If he slips to 13 because of that, we better take him. I'd rather wait for Saric than have Lavine or Hood.

Let's say we take the Boston deal... What do you guys think of Marcus Smart ? I personally think he is a horrible fit with Rubio, but is his talent high enough (compared to Wade) to take him anyways?

I'd rather have one of the PF prospects, Gordon especially, but if we can get two top 8 picks, I'd very happily take him.

Flip on Saric:
This morning I got something from somebody that (top 3 prospect Joel) Embiid broke his foot and (European prospect Dario) Saric is going back to Europe for two more years. If Saric goes back, he maybe falls and keeps on falling. You never know what will happen."

I agree with that. If we end up with the GSW trade the timing could work out nicely as Lee's replacement, too. Depending on the Love trade, it might be tough to pass on Stauskas/Harris/McDermott (if available) for someone who won't contribute for two years, though.

WTF? Flip only learned about Embiid's injury this morning? Or was that from a couple of days ago (I really hope so).

That was from a couple days ago. That's what I was referencing with my other post.

Yeah I think that is where I am at as well. Draft PF first and get someone who can play with both dieng and pek. Then go wing at 13 (young perhaps).

Pretty much my thought. I like the wing prospects at 13 much more than the PF prospect (pretty much just Payne, who is a reach).

He can create his own shot and get off a jumper at any time. In the NBA this is an important skill. And I don't think there is anyone on our team than can do this off the dribble.

He really isn't that great at creating a shot. He has poor handles, too vertical and high dribble and really struggles in the half-court. With LaVine I have no major issues taking him around #16 or #17, but at #13 I am not even thinking his name.

It was from Thursday. (if people would post links, this type of confusion wouldn't happen)

Saric is very likely at 13 if we take the Boston deal. So its nice to see that Flip is taking a look at him. With how he talked about him sliding down he made it sound as if we would be lucky for that to happen.

Maybe I'm reaching though

Keep in mind we can afford to stash him and bring in two rookies next year (#6, #17).

I also liked how he talked about Gorqui playing a bit PF. He def has quick enough feet and the IQ to play there. He just needs to add range to his jumper for spacing.

BTW in today's update, DraftExpress moved Payton up from 20 to 16.

He's now mocked at 12.

Another thing from that Zgoda post is Flip saying they have a bigger box of players they feel good about....more contingency plans, if you will.

There over 10 players that I like after the 7th pick. As someone who didn't pay much attention to this draft, and didn't buy the hype, I will say it is a very deep draft.

I like him but I'm always wary of the guys who jump up the rankings before the draft.

draft Saric and trade him. I personally dont rate him much, but apparently I think we can sell him somewhere.

I feel like Saric is basically a less athletic and less skilled ball handling version of AK47, but still shows more potential on his jumper than Andre ever did. Fairly tepid on him as far as a prospect.

Not a fan of that comparison. AK47, above all else, was always a great defender. Defense is going to be a major weakness for Saric.

Would you guys trade Shump for 13?
