But probably less likely than the Wolves making the playoffs. :D

I never said that we should count ALL of those teams out, just that they all have the potential to miss the playoffs next year.

Which the likelyhood of that happening and us improving enough to pass them would be minuscule.

Why shouldn't we expect Rubio to be healthy? He played all 82 games a year ago, and pretty much all of his missed time has been the result of two freak injuries that are unlikely to reoccur.

We shouldn't expect him to be healthy, because in 4 seasons he has only played close to 1 full season. That is a trend that shouldn't be just brushed off because his injuries were freak in nature.

I think we will be near .500, that's not good enough for the playoffs. I feel like Towns will be the pick and he will have struggles on the defensive end of all places. He will develop into a good defender, but I don't see him coming out of the box as a plus defender. He is only 19 and will need to build up strength. He also can be over aggressive in college, so he will need to learn to play a little smarter. Again he is young so it's to be expected.

Russell has a ridiculously quick release.

Russell with a near 40" vert according to Ford. His athleticism is underrated. I think all three of the top picks are going to be stars; however, if we don't end up with Towns, I'm going to be pretty crushed and I think this board will explode.

At least, will give a bad sign if he drafs Okafor.

Same sign he gave when he made the trade for T.Young to put next to Pekovic.

Sign = I really dont care about defense.

I fail to see how ending up with Okafor is that bad. The guy is the best post player to come out since Duncan. That is almost 20 years ago. He is only 19. To me this shows great work ethic and great study habits. He has the physical profile to be a solid defender. David Robinson says he reminds him of Duncan. It's not like Okafor is a bum or even a guy who is reached his ceiling.

LOL at anyone who thinks one playoff team falling off is our shot to get in. Do the Suns, Kings, Thunder, Jazz, Lakers, and Nuggets all fall off too? Thunder will be a force, Pelicans will be better. Kings can finally make the jump, Lakers will be fighting their asses off in Kobe's last season and the Jazz are further ahead if us. Maybe, maybe we can catch the Nuggets, Kings, and or Suns if things continue to go badly for them.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Will it be a bad result? Of course not. Okafor is a great prospect. But it's hard to see reporters, whether it be Ford, Givony, etc, say that almost universally around the league Towns is considered the #1 guy, only to then say that Flip appears to be one of the Okafor holdouts. Doesn't mean Flip's wrong, just means that he's on a very small island with that thought process.

Is not ony 1 team, could be 3 falling off.
And yes, do you look at New Orleans, Suns, Kings, Jazz, Denver and they are not better than us on paper.

Health, coaching, draft the right guy are the difference between being only good on paper vs being good on the court. IMO.

Remember the Phoenix Suns 2 years ago ? Projected to be the worst team in the NBA ?

I guess I'm less worried about group think and more worried about getting the right guy. I fail to see where Towns has so much separation between himself, Okafor, and Russell that would warrant getting upset that we picked the other two over him. For most of the year Okafor was the consensus number one guy. What did he do wrong to universally lose that spot? What has Towns done to universally gain it? I just don't see Towns being so vastly superior to Okafor and Russell and I'm definitely in the minority.

You might need to check your vision then. What makes us better than the Pelicans?

Well, looking at rosters on paper.

I'll say we have a better C.
(*Towns vs Asik - if he comes back to NO)

They have A.Davis (that is huge)

But they dont have Wiggins at SF.

Gordon vs Martin is equal.

Rubio vs Holiday , well i'll take Rubio.

Benchs, i think we have a huge advantage here.

On paper i think we are better for sure.

Davis might be the best player in the entire league next year. That's absolutely huge.

Wiggins can be huge too.
