Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread**
He handled his final FTs against Warriors in OT like we've always hoped a Wolves player would. Like a pro for once. No crazy hand the game away hi-jinks. He handled KD's pressure well. He didn't get overly angry and lose himself at refs or start playing wild. I think we may have witnessed him from January to now becoming the player everyone had hopes for on draft day.

Yeah, KAT's a true star for sure..we have to really find a way to make some noise this summer and making the playoffs next year or we'll be living the KG days all over again

I'd love to live the KG days all over again.

Love Karl but the crying about refs and fouls is way overkill. It affects his game greatly.

Can t believe we are not able to build a playoff team around him.......

And despite that it is still very iffy on whether he will make an All NBA team for his $32 million. Jokic is a lock and most people consider Brow and Embiid to be better. Will KAT get the nod over one of them for his durability?

Health was a big problem, but even the Butler fiasco to start the season took like 12 awful games instead of be done over the offseason. That alone could have changed the course in a bloody western conference.KGdaBom wrote:TwolvesFanRome wrote:Can t believe we are not able to build a playoff team around him.......

Yes, I think that overall negative impact of locker room issue was bigger than I can imagine. We missed a leader during offseason, preseason. I hope that this summer will be different. More transparency, more loyalty, more consistency and internal development. I think it can make us wonder.

I think the last spot for All NBA is between KAT and Gobert. AD won’t be in this year imo

That's the $32 million question.

No exceptions. It's treated like any normal contract.
Here's the breakdowns (based on a $109 million salary cap)
25% - $27,250,000 / $29,430,000 / $31,610,000 / $33,790,000 / $35,970,000 = $158,050,000
30% - $32,700,000 / $35,316,000 / $37,932,000 / $40,548,000 / $43,164,000 = $189,660,000
Really stupid how they didn't make that a non-cap bonus, I don't know what the NBA was thinking.
This defeats half the purpose of the rule.
Sure, the extra money is to give home teams some additional incentive they can offer to a star to stay put. However, the reason we even have cap holds and a salary cap is to create parity in the league. It’s not a perfect system, but we want good players to be paid more, and to go to other teams that can pay them, rather than all congregate on one or two winner cities.
The idea here is that if a player makes All NBA twice, he truly is a superstar. His on-court contribution is worth more than the traditional max deal player, and he’s probably still underpaid with the extra 5% of the cap on his salary. The league wants that money to have a cap hold, because it SHOULD be harder for a team with a superstar to throw money at other stars.

Boooooo. That seems like it penalizes the team for a guy making the all NBA team. Not only does that hamstring us by making it harder to sign Mid level players with that extra 5-6 mil, it make FA's not want to come because we cant pay them. (That 5-6 mil might help persuade them.)

You’re right - it does penalize us. But it’s supposed to penalize us, because we are lucky enough to have a guy like KAT on our team.
Whether he gets the regular max or the Designated Player max, he will still be worth more than his paycheck.
So I’m conflicted. I know that it’s better for the team if he doesn’t get paid that extra money over so many years, but he certainly deserves it, and it would be nice to see a Timberwolf get some accolades.

So what did Minnesota win this year 36 games? Seriously is karl-anthony towns really that good? I would think a really good player could get his team to at least 45 wins even if he doesn't have any help. Don't get me wrong he's an above-average player but he certainly nothing you can build your team around. Sorry that's just a fact the numbers back me up.

Same philly kid, trying to troll.
Must be really young, to go to someone else’s board to talk about winning, and not remember Philly’s years of shameful tanking.

Just don't think he's as good as what you people in Minnesota think he is. You won 47 games last year but as we found out that was mainly due to Jimmy Butler. I recall when everyone from Minnesota thought Kevin Love was so good , it turns out he really wasn't. I'm always very apprehensive of guys putting out good numbers on bad teams, really doesn't mean a lot.
