I'm starting to lean towards Bender ahead of Ingram as well. Still feel like it wouldn't be smart to pass on him though for fit. Considering the perceived gap between the first two picks and the rest, what would most teams at #3 give up to move up to #2?

Yep, we have $26.63 million available to spend on Free agents, after paying the #5 draft pick, and Pek...
The Wolves have to spend 90% of the cap in any case, which means spending at least 17.4 million on FA's or extensions to hit the minimum salary, almost $25 million if Pek retires and his contract stretched.

In other words the Wolves must spend at least $82.8 million next season if the Cap is $92m. They only have $61,494,226 on the books at the moment, that includes the $12.1 million Pek is making. His contract doesn't really matter at all.

It means we can offer for everyone FA we want?
"...I want to compliment him, we all expected that he would take up the game, we have prepared the plan race on him, we have doubled. And, as usual, he did what he wanted..."

Yes, but about 20 other teams have lots of money as well.

In July, the Wolves will have $30,505,774 to spend below the new Cap. (before signing their draft pick, and assuming they waive their rights to a few guys).

The rookie's cap hold will still be on the cap from the time he's drafted until the time he signs his deal.

Yep, unless they trade the pick. I think I've made that clear in every other post I've ever made about the cap.

If we do end up with the 2nd overall pick we can put Ingram at the 3 and Wiggins at the 2 with Lavine coming off the bench. That would be a long team, great for Thib's defensive schemes.

Thibs said he want a 3pt shooter that have tools on D, that means Ingram, Hield or Bender

He specifically said that's what he wants out of the draft? Can you provide a link?

Yeah I haven't heard that yet, unless it was in one of the 1-on-1s...but I doubt it.

I re-watched it and he didn't say anything about getting that from the draft. He mentioned our high pick being one of the positives this team has along with huge cap space. He did address that the team needs to be better at 3s and defense, but it wasn't related to him saying it needed to being from the draft, but it could be a thing him and Layton look for with our pick.

It was one of the interviews for nba tv. He did mention that either three point shooting or defence are two skillsets what we are looking from our pick (he mentioned those two elements in that order as points of improvement for our team to Rick Kamla before as well), but didn't mention that 2-1 is a must in one player.

What to get from that, is that he didn't emphasize rebounding or playmaking, that's all.

Doesn't thibs count rebounding as defense? Ending the other teams offense

That's not stating 3 point shooting and defense. 3 point shooting can be addressed in the off-season or the draft. Power Forward defense not so much as the free agency market isn't as attractive this year.

It's good we have cap space, but we can't give free agents big long-term deals b/c we're going to need to save some to extend Wiggins, LaVine and KAT down the road. I know that's a few years away, but still have to keep that in mind partially, right?

Depends on how willing Taylor is to pay the luxury tax.

Hasn't he said in the past that he's more than willing to pony up big bucks for a top team, he just won't waste money on a middling one?

Yep, I mentioned that in the cap space thread last week, I believe. To me, 2-year deals are the way to go.
