Also, Millsap is older than Crawford I think. I would much rather have a guy like Brown who has a future to give a try.

Yes I know. It was exaggerated for sarcasm. Still, 30 is kind of maxed out without much room for growth.

6-2 guard who averaged less than 1 apg in 29mpg his senior year doesn't have an NBA future.

Playing almost exclusively power forward, at 6'2.

NBA 10-day contracts can be signed starting Friday. I wonder if the Wolves use their second two way contract/open roster spot on Amile Jefferson or Melo Trimble. If not, does either get signed to 10-day by another NBA team?

You're a #2 overall draft pick and somewhere in your career this happens.

Wolves lose to Brooklyn because they can't hit a 3. Anthony Brown is in Iowa doing this https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/basketball/news/timberwolves-anthony-brown-drills-10-treys-in-g-league-game/

Regarded mostly as a defensive specialist for his first two seasons in the pro ranks, Brown has shown some unexpected aptitude as an outside shooter across 19 games with Iowa. He's knocked down 41.7 percent of his 3-point tries for the season

My biggest question is about his defensive potential. If he can be at least average in NBA then I don't understand why he is not already in Wolves rotation.

Bjelica who is our best shooter took 0 shots in the Nets game. Crawford just threw 1 from beyond the arc and Towns missed his 3-points shots and at least 2 of them was a good shots. Perhaps it's not a problem of players rather than type of play.

MGH must have been head and shoulders better than Brown in camp for Brown not to get a look. I know MGH has dominated G League too, so it would make sense, but I'm also surprised that Brown hasn't gotten a look yet.

Either Brown is a bad defender or Thibs is blind. Considering our upcoming schedule it makes a lot of sense to call Brown as insurance 3pt shooter

I don’t know if Brown can actually defend, but he was drafted as a defensive future three and D guy and defense was his suppose strong suit in his year with the Lakers. His biggest problem at the NBA level is he hasn’t hit shots.

It could also be that his defense wasn’t what it was suppose to be in college.

3 point shot consistentcy is something that you can significantly improve in time. From what I have seen he has a solid foundation here. Defense is another story. Consistent effort and IQ should be above average if he wants to crack Thibs rotation. I wonder if he brings same weaknesses as Wiggins and KAT. Because MGH got his chance by giving 100% every time he checks in.

How has Patton been playing?
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

Mostly efficient in limited minutes.

Haven't watched the last few games though

I’ve watched over half the Iowa Wolves games this year so I will give a bit of a report here.

People have asked about Brown’s D and it has has been better the last couple games but it’s been...let’s just say less than impressive the games previously. His all around game has improved in general though recently. His passing the last couple games has been impressive.

Patton has looked more raw the last few games. This should be expected. He was supposed to be raw before getting injured. He has some intruiging passing aptitude for a guy that size.

Amile...obviously the guy just keeps putting up crazy numbers. Bigs aren’t really in right now and there are some other good ones that are available but the guy just keeps producing. His defensive value is his switchability more than rim protection.

Michael Bryson. Really good athlete with a sweet looking jumper but more is a 3 and D guy. Really quick laterally and really gets up. One of my favorite players to watch.

Wes Waspun hustles, very athletic, plays hard and his shot has improved. He is actually a threat to score now on something other than a steal and dunk. He also moves the ball. Another favorite.

Shawne Williams shot has come around dude is just letting it fly. Playing like a solid vet otherwise.

Trimble is more of a guy that scores than one that plays PG. He isn’t clueless on how to run a team but that’s not his strength. If he hits 3’s at a decent consistent rate he could be a worthwhile bench PG in the NBA. One of the best FT shooter in the league.

Millsap likes to ISO too much but he is pretty good at this level and plays hard all the time. Good defender.

Perry Jones was looking kinda intruiging and playing fairly well before hurting his ankle. He is a lengthy human.

Marquis Moore is like a 6’2” guy that looks and plays more like a football player. Rebounds well for a guard and plays hard. Has a bad looking shot. He comes in and does enough in his minutes though off the bench to keep things afloat at worst. Has only been playing because of injuries.

I think that’s it.

Maybe as encouraging as anything this team is actually winning basketball games. It’s also worth mentioning that rookie guys like Amile and Trimble have been pretty impressive. Maybe this new Thibs Layden combo and their staff has some clue about talent. At least 4 of their players from SL last summer have 2 way contracts this year with other NBA teams. CJ Williams hit a game winner for the Clippers last night. The deadline to sign 2 way contracts is January 11th. It would be kinda weird if they didn’t sign someone. Props to Roth and his staff for turning this team around.
