I keep thinking about how all his teammates just love Naz, especially Jaden and Ant.
He seems to be a real glue guy and the team plays so much harder when he is out there.
With how far he has come from being an undrafted free agent, on a continued upward trajectory, and the love and chemistry he has with his teammates, it will be an absolute crying shame if we are not able to bring Naz back in the offseason.

Re-sign Naz and expand his role and get the best package you can for KAT before that supermax kicks in.

Jon K last night that he'd expect Naz to get $10-14 million/year on the open market at this point. He likes it here and we want to keep him, but it comes down to dollars and role.

Had he put out a strong playoff performance, he could've seen that jump to $15-18 million/year.

Trade Rudy for 2-3 players that can contribute at lower salaries that are easier to move if necessary and a draft pick or two. And sign Naz to an extension.

It’s amazes me how Naz has changed my position from the first part of the season, when he’d pick up occasional DNP-CD’s.

I originally said that with Towns and Gobert, Naz is simply more valuable elsewhere, and we can’t afford to pay him what he would earn on other teams, in possibly a starting role.

Naz has been great this season, and Finch has found ways to get Naz minutes, even when KAT came back. At this point, I’d like the Wolves to pay Naz $10-14, and trust that Finch will just continue to find ways to make it work.

I changed my stance on Naz as well. I don't think he was a winning player early in the year, despite his flashiness and offensive prowess. Now I think he's great!
You seem to think Finch sticking around is a certainty. I'd lean towards firing him personally. The team doesn't execute for ****. He doesn't have control of the situation either. He doesn't seem to be able to effectively pivot his gameplan. I wouldn't be upset if he stays but... not ecstatic.

Firing Finch would be the stupidest mistake of a coaching transaction that this franchise has ever made in its entire history.

Is this becoming the catch all thread? Gobert trade for down, fire Finch, Should we do a Harry Potter remake? Is Superman stronger than Thor?

Despite everything Connelly said about Naz Reid extension, why FO is still waiting? If I remember correctly we can resign Reid at any point giving him an amount of money regardless our cap situation, correct? The only reason why MIN have not done it yet, because Reid wants to test FA market? But then if he gets an offer from let's say OKC he will decide whether communicate with MIN in order to get a better deal or he can just straightforward sign OKC deal?

Extend those three… move KAT … acquire PG and picks. Gotta keep ANT and focus the build (not rebuild) around him

You’re right on all counts. MIN has been able to negotiate with Naz all year, and it sounds like they have been making offers. We have his Bird rights, so we can offer any amount. However, until July 6 when free agency opens, other teams can’t legally make an offer to Naz. This is probably very important to Naz, since he’s played for four years for so little, each year at the minimum on unguaranteed contracts. He wouldn’t want to agree to a number with MIN that might turn out to be lower than some other team was about to offer. And from what I’ve read, players in his position often like to hear flattering offers from other teams and feel the control of being able to choose where they will work. Finally, Naz is an unrestricted free agent, not an RFA, so he has no obligation to bring offers from other teams to MIN, to give them a chance to meet or exceed it.

I really hope we bring back Naz, and both Connolly and Finch are saying positive things about how important he is here for next season. I was impressed how Finch found minutes for Naz, even after KAT returned. However, keep in mind that different players prioritize different things when they get to choose their next team. It’s very likely that since Naz has made so little, he’ll go to the team that makes the highest offer, and maybe that could even be us. It’s also possible as a young player, he wants to go to a team that provides a greater opportunity, maybe even a starting role. We can’t offer that.

I hope Naz stays in MIN, but if he chooses a different team, I’ll be happy for him and wish him future success. To me, he earned that with his hard work here in Minnesota the last four years.

I believe the most the Wolves can offer him before the first day of free agency starts is 4 year 58 million. If Naz is looking for more, there isn't a discussion to be had until July.

Yes, I have heard about 55-58 mil / 4 yrs deal as maximum extension. Or any contract with birds rights after FA market. I just don't get whole logic, especially after injury

It very easily could be Naz who is waiting.

100%.

The longer they wait the more potential customers to get an offer from (in hopes of starting a bidding war).

I agree with this approach, i just don't think we need to force a trade for a PG out of the deal. I think Conley has another year or two left in the tank and the more Ant grows a facilitator the less important the PG position becomes for this team.

Whenever someone posts to the Naz Reid thread, I’m always hoping it’s about an extension has gone through!

I was happy to hear Connolly say that Ant, Jaden AND NAZ were important parts of our future!
