I can't believe what I saw go down on Philidelphia today. That was legendary, I would be in shambles as a fan. That could ruin your whole week lol. Ben Simmons is starting to look like a Wiggins situation, he's far better but man, I am happy we gout out of that, so bad to have a player who has become an anchor like that. I feel bad for the player too as they take all the heat (not they haven't earned it).

If you have a Max player on your payroll and the team can’t afford to have you on the court in crunch time, that’s a real problem. His trade value has dropped dramatically during the playoffs.

This clippers shooting display is insane. Shows why it’s hard to keep a center on the court during the playoffs that is uncomfortable defending to the three point line.

If the Jazz are knocked out by a Leonard-less Clips team, how do they think this group will ever be a legit championship contender?

This was some Villanova vs Georgetown(84) ****. I don’t know if it should be used in long term evaluations. Sometimes teams just shoot out of their mind.

Rudy Gobert is supposed to be the defensive player of the year, yet he has no effect on the defense during the 2nd half…nice.

Shooters gonna stay paid in the NBA. Shooting at an absolute premium.

Biggest lesson from this year's playoffs is that having defensive versatility and flexibility is really important...defense needs to be flexible enough to play either drop coverage or switch defense etc depending on the opposition. Have to adapt based on situation and opponent....this is where Clippers have excelled in this playoffs (made so many adjustments defensively) whereas Jazz's defense was kinda exposed against Clippers small ball lineup due to lack of adjustments. Ty Lue gets lot of flak but he usually is good in making adjustments

What we are seeing in the playoffs may be something that can benefit us.

KAT gets crucified for his defense but I think the mobility he showed this season could actually be a big strength when compared to some of these bigger centers. We are seeing all defensive big men like Gobert and Embiid getting cooked in some actions, Gobert could not get out and defend against the Clippers.

KAT could actually provide resistance there. He isn't some massive anchor in inside but he can get out and cause problems. This may prove really useful if we make the post-season. I think Finch can unlock this, particularly if the wolves find some more frontcourt help. Towns isn't shutting down PG's or SG's but I could see him giving some 3, and 4, issues. Also if he is funneling them into a rim protector, that is trouble, would be pretty hard to scorer over KAT and that guy.

From an article talking about the wolves becoming a respectable defense.

https://www.canishoopus.com/2021/6/7/22522503/the-path-to-a-respectable-defense-timberwolves-offseason-2021

What we have seen from Towns as a defender for most of his career has been a player that is active, much to his demise, in the paint. This has caused him to over commit to the ball handler, chase blocks, and foul out of games for years. Chris Finch, and the great basketball mind that he is, decided that instead of trying to harness that activity from Towns in the drop scheme, he would instead use that activity to his advantage.

It is clear that Towns likes chasing wings and guards around on the perimeter. Allowing him to do this gets the most effort out of him, which is important in the context of building a competent defense.

The area where KAT needs to improve the most on defensive end is basically PnR defense...I think he usually does an ok job while defending perimeter

The thing about playing small ball against Gobert is that Gobert doesn't have offensive skills to punish that small ball lineup...he doesn't even have any basic post moves and does struggle at times to even catch the ball properly when any Utah guard passes him on post. You try that kinda small ball lineup vs say Jokic or KAT etc.they will punish you offensively.

Good pint, they can't get an advantage on the offensive side where that wouldn't be a problem with some other star bigs.
