I don't know when this happened, but RealGM updated their article with:

"Update: It is now believed that the Raptors are out of the running for Turkoglu."

if by both teams you mean Portland and the Blazers, then yes, win/win

Seriously. I don't think that Flynn straight for Rudy is totally equal, although I think I'd pull the trigger if Rubio was here, but Rubio for Rudy is just bending over and taking it from portland.

shrink, that is what I was thinking today when I heard the Rudy news...POR delusional fans aside, the best thing we could offer POR is cap room to sign Hedo...trying to come up with something, but nothing jumped out at me...no way we deal Flynn or Rubio IMO, so it would have to be absorbing a contract, but they don't really have any bad ones...do you see a way?

Perhaps the "addition" we could offer .. if its truly needed .. is to clear a little more 2009 cap space?

Certainly Paul Allen won't mind spending the money, if his team could find it under the salary cap.

I think Turkoglu would prefer 50M from Blazers than 60M from Raptors

If he goes to Portland he has a chance to win and get overpaid!

I really hope Portland gets him. He'll be a terrible fit and very overpaid. I like the thought of portland having no flexibility to add anything going forward.

According to Portland fans Toronto has bowed out of the Turk sweepstakes. I'd be shocked if he doesn't end up there; however, I'm not sure if Rudy really wants out of Portland or not even if Turk signs there. I also worry that a Rubio/Fernandez backcourt would be pretty skinny and not very defensive minded (I know Rubio's awards in Europe).

I'm not sure what the best course of action is but I don't believe having and Flynn and Rubio play together is it and I fear doing nothing is going to alienate Rubio to the point he never plays for us (especially if his buddy Rudy is already have second thoughts about leaving Spain).

rudy can be had for less than flynn now, hopefully.
peckovic and/or one of our owed 1sts.

guy shot .399 from 3 last year, and is much better than he showed
because of how portland used him.

he was simply phenomenal in the gold medal game vs. kobe and the US.

Totally agree, after the Rudy news was put out there today. Which side leaked the story?

I think Rudy would be a perfect fit and POR will likely take something far less than POR fans believe...

In the hopes of throwing a little fuel on this Flynn/Fernandez fire I cooked up a trade that expanded on the basics. For all I know people will probably hate it, but here goes. Currently it doesn't work in the checker but assuming that Flynn signs a contract like Danilo Gallinari did in the same pick spot last year it should be a go.

The reason I think this works for all teams involved is that Portland gets a reasonably talented veteran mentor in Duhon, a rookie potential phenom in Flynn and it frees up a logjam at SG/SF with Hedo Turkoglu likely incoming and Outlaw and Fernandez out of his way. The Wolves do it for obvious reasons, namely Rudy teaming up with Rubio and sealing the deal by clearing Ricky's issues with Flynn. Blake is a serviceable backup who won't get in the way of Ricky's minutes. New York does it for their local boy Telfair and his small contract; who should do well in the D'Antoni style offense, which Outlaw already excels at. Outlaw's contract also expires next year so NY is still able to clear cap space for their Lebron run.

Thanks for the time.

Minnesota Out:
Johnny Flynn to Portland
Sebastian Telfair to New York

Minnesota In:
Rudy Fernandez from Portland
Steve Blake from Portland

Portland Out:
Travis Outlaw to New York
Rudy Fernandez to Minnesota
Steve Blake to Minnesota

Portland In:
Chris Duhon from New York
Johnny Flynn from Minnesota

New York Out:
Chris Duhon to Portland

New York In:
Travis Outlaw from Portland
Sebastain Telfair from Minnesota

I am against a Flynn-Gordon backcourt. Too small. Don't give me arm length and standing reach, IMHO that's just a way to talk yourself into a guy who is too short. McCants had long arms...where is he now? No question that Gordon can score but a Flynn-Gordon combo backs us into a corner with guys that are both undersized for their positions.

EDIT: lol "arm length"?...."wingspan" was the term I was searching for...couldnt come up with it when I needed it.

Blazers wont give up Rudy for nothing. He has 3 years left of contract (a very cheap one). And they have no need for Nikola Pekovic. They already have like 5+ players overseas.

I don't see how something other than Flynn for Fernandez could work.

Plus, i am sure that there will be lots of interested teams if Portland decides to trade him.

As how i see it, TWolves would be lucky to have Rubio and Fernandez in the starting 5 by season opening.

I think Flynn for Fernandez would be a nice trade for both sides.

Portland gets the PG they need, and Minnesota gets a few things:

- A great SG who can score at will.
- A 3pt specialist that will open the post game as he needs a guy over him all the time.
- Clears the situation for Ricky Rubio, he would love to come to Min with his ex-team mate Rudy, and they play in different positions, so they won't have problems of PT. Also if Flynn is moved, it would probably make Rubio's happy about his future playing time in Min.

As Spanish myself, i would love that trade and would become a huge Wolves fan with that Rubio/Rudy back court :)

You guys should have seen the amount of fans the Grizzlies earned in Spain when they had Navarro and Gasol. It means more exposure in the news and more international exposure, that is always welcome by "small" market franchises.

check out Eric Gordon's game logs with the big SGs, he goes toe to toe with all of them. It hasn't shown to be an issue at all for him.

If Portland indeed overpays for Turkey Glue, they will want to cut some salary. We could offer them Gomes (who would be cut) and a future #1 for Rudy. Or Gomes + pick + expiring for Rudy + bad contract. I would rather keep Flynn for a year at least, so he can show everyone why Kahn made him a lottery pick. If Flynn had a rookie year as good as Rudy's, his trade value would be a lot higher than it is now.

There is no way to cut salaries by trading Fernandez because he is way underpaid.

Hence the Rudy + bad contract

Still, Rudy + bad contract = not so bad contracts.

Think about it. Blazers dont have a real **** up contract.

Throw and easily cut expiring deal (Bobby brown)+utah's pick. Or maybe Craig smith?

What does this do to Portland's cap?

I know Portland fans will LOL over this, or worse maybe even RFLAO, but I think it's fair and makes sense for both teams ---

Gomes + Pekovic + Utah 1st + Houston 2nd (replace Charlotte first with Utah's if we must)c

for

Outlaw* + Fernandez

*This is based on the premise that Gomes has more value than Outlaw because of his unguaranteed contract next year, which will be a valuable trading asset a year from now.
