Re: Trade Talk (Part Five)
This kind of goes against my former posts and my better judgement on paying players but would you flip Edwards for a sign/trade of Julius Randle?
They have Toppin and now Gibson signed for the year. They don't need any point guards. Not sure they would do this or not. But Randle is 6-8 250 and might help this team and be closer to what Rosas would accept. Still would rather just add Patton.

Randle would be a perfect fit offensively...wide body to set good picks..excellent off rebder and reb in general. attacks the rim like a bully..can now consistenly hit the midrange and 3. defense is ok. better than huancho and layman. scoring would come natural for him as the 3rd option here. he can also drive and kick and has a knack for finding shooters. And can be used as a small ball center. i think culver+hernangomez+2nd rder can get it done. Maybe Randle+Knox for a package around Culver.

Re: Trade Talk (Part Five)
Am I missing something or hasn't Culver been the most disappointing player from his draft class?
At least of guys that have gotten playing time, Hayes and Doumbouya would be the others but both were considered more to be projects than JC
Wouldn't his value be in the same ballpark as like Frank Ntilikina, Josh Jackson, Malik Monk, Mo Bamba, etc from previous draft classes?

Re: Trade Talk (Part Five)
I think Ben Simmons would work out well here. I don't think he'll be in Philly long.
Ricky, Ant, Culver for Ben + filler?
It ain't **** for an offer, but we don't have our pick and DLO is one of our only legitimate outside threats besides Beas/KAT

Rubio and Culver for Randle and Knox works. I would hold off on Edwards for bigger game.

I think that the pathway to Ben Simmons, while very unlikely, is this.
1. Simmons is frustrated with Morey that he was offered in trade. Word out there is he expected to be dealt.
2. PHI offers Simmons for Bradley Beal.
3. WAS (3-8) prefers a full rebuild with Andrews plus, rather than a re-tool around Simmons.
I think the first two steps could happen, but the third is unlikely. WAS swapped Wall for Westbrook (32), paid Bertans (28), and still have Robin Lopez (32) and Ish Smith (32). I don’t know what their path is if they trade Beal, but I expect in most cases they’d prefer Simmons.

We have zero assets to acquire Simmons.
There’s always a better team with more assets than us.

Re: Trade Talk (Part Five)
Even before this game...
KAT for Hunter, Capela and John Collins
Give me three quality guys that would fit this roster so well. They bring defense, size, quality... Ride with Edwards and see if he can be the guy moving forward. I even would be in favor to keep Dlo as PG with a lineup of...
Dlo
Edwards
Hunter
Collins
Capela
Well balanced starting five, way better than anything we have right now.

I think a simple trade such as getting Larry Nance Jr and taurean prince from cavs would make us a better team

Re: Trade Talk (Part Five)
would you guys trade for Andre Drummond? he's a PF/Center. guy avg 17 boards a game. we won't have to worry about getting out rebounded anymore. and he provides almost 2 blocks a game. excellent pick and roll big and finisher around the rim. his a UFA earning 28 mil this yr. Worst case scenario we lose in a FA and use the cap space to someone else? If the pieces to give up for him are the likes of Rubio, Culver and filler i would do it. And hope he'll resign for 20-23 mil/yr.

Drummond is not a PF/C.
Drummond is a center.

I entertained this thought once Jarret Allen was traded to Cavs. Drummond incoming FINALLY kill the small ball dream and slide KAT to the 4. I have a few reasons why I would do the trade:
-Drummond helps our interior D/ Rebounding issue
-Expiring deal so no long term commitment (Send Rubio, Juancho, Culver or SRP)
-Gives us better chance at Playoffs (Not owning our pick is more reason to make a push)
DLo
Beasley
Okogie/Ant
KAT
Drummond

Drafting Wiseman would have covered everything. We’re looking for a big right now and could have covered it with Wiseman. He’s a defensive big that can also stretch the floor...still not sure why Rosas went with Edwards.
I give up with this organization. Absolutely ridiculous.
Probably because Wiseman said he doesn't want to play here
That's also true. But is not like he had a choice.
He could have pulled a Steve Francis. Not drafting Wiseman was the same reason we didn't draft Curry they didnt want to play here.

You know where else Curry didn't want to play?
Golden State.
For Walsh, the most painful part of the episode is that leading into the draft, Curry wanted no part of the Warriors and, assuming he was not going to be drafted higher, pointed to the Knicks as his preferred landing site. Curry refused to so much as visit or work out for the Warriors.
In a telephone interview, Curry’s father, Dell, who played 16 N.B.A. seasons as a sweet-shooting guard, said: "The Warriors had some questionable characters on their team, the Knicks really needed a point guard, and we felt that Stephen would fit perfectly with a coach like Mike D’Antoni, playing that fast, up-and-down style. He loved the idea of playing at Madison Square Garden."/
http://nba.nbcsports.com/2014/12/14/knicks-and-stephen-curry-wanted-each-other-before-2009-draft
But they called his bluff. No player is going to go through not playing ball at any level for a year just to get drafted by another unknown the following year.
And once you draft them, if you can't convince them to stay after 4 years, you don't deserve to keep them.

Do you really think that we will make a PO run only with the addition of Drummond? I mean also the Pelicans that have a mch talented and experienced team are struggling in the West.
Maybe we (Rosas included) have to lower expectations on this team. We lack talent, size, defense, 3Pt shooting (we are 29th in 3pt %), good coaching, basketball IQ.
Considering that we do not even own our 2021 1st the only player that could bring us positive assets in return is Towns. However, before a Towns trade I want Rosas to be fired, I do not want him to further damage this franchise.
Rosas- Saunders small system is way worse compared to Kahn - Rambis triangle...

Towns is finally playing good defense at center - the one improvement that can make him a superstar.
Now is not the time to make a trade that moves him to PF.

There's logic behind that, but at the same time I think it misses the big picture: the ultimate goal is for the team to win, not for your superstar to be as good as he can in all facets of the game (that would be excellent, but it's secondary). Sometimes your best player needs to sacrifice an aspect of his game (or you need to sacrifice it for him) so the team can reach its goals.
Now, I don't think it's a must, but it's worth considering if the right trade can be made. Moving KAT to PF could be a good way to find that stretch-4 that's so difficult to get via trade or free agency. It's much easier to get a rebounding C that can add some interior D, and see if you can work it out collectivelly to defend the pick and roll or stop bigger guys on the perimeter (and it's not like they're doing a great job at that currently, so they wouldn't be missing much -if anything- defensively).
PS: That's not to say that Drummond is a great defender (cause he isn't) or that the Cavs would take Rubio for him when they're invested in developing their Garland - Sexton backcourt (cause they wouldn't). I'm not talking about that specific trade here.

I’m open to just about any kind of move to shake things up but this is a very rational post.

Tank and rebuild plus a little history of repeating itself with Boston — who could be very motivated to join the arms race in East...
Jazz: Conley
FOR
Walker
Warriors: Oubre Jr. + Wiseman + 2021 Wolves 1st
FOR
Brown + Williams + 2021 Celtics 1st
Celtics: Brown + Walker + Williams + 3 or 4 1sts and Swaps

Towns + Russell + Layman
Wolves: Towns + Russell + Layman
FOR
Wiseman + Conley (expiring) + Oubre (expiring) + 2021 Wolves 1st (returned) + 2-3 Celtics 1sts and Swaps
Jazz get PG upgrade. Maybe they add assets.
Warriors get a huge SG/SF upgrade who fits perfect with Wiggins, keep youth big, and a 1st.
Celtics get Towns and play Russell next to Smart in starting lineup.
Wolves get Wiseman and their 1st back plus the usual bunch of 1sts for their superstar to Boston yet again.
