That trade would be so short sighted unless we are getting a pick(s) back.

Holy crap I am not liking any of these Tim Connelly moves outside of Kyle Andersono and MAYBE Josh Minott(we'll see in the future).

UTA draft compensation could be adding protections to a pick we already owe them, or nulling a swap?

I somewhat wonder if the Lakers are trading both firsts, but there is some level of protection added to both of them. Utah then kicks back a couple seconds to Minnesota. EDIT: To be clear, just speculation.

If LAL protects the first 1st, there is too good a chance the second doesn’t convey, because of the seven year rule.

Part of me thinks this is trying to justify the horrible Rudy trade. Rudy put us in absolute win-now mode because of lack of picks and Rudy’s age. I don’t like this. I think DLo is better now. And with Conley’s age, will obviously be better in the future. Money may be part of the issue, as DLo isn’t a max player and Connelly isn’t giving him an extension. I just don’t see how this moves the needle and just further shortens our window.

If Utah actually thought this made us better, would they be doing it? Since they own our future picks.

UTA draft compensation doesn’t have to be a late pick - it could be adding protections to a pick we already owe them, or nulling a swap?

Maybe THT or Clarkson comes our way.

Clarkson would be interesting. He's also an expiring though isn't he? One of our picks back, or one of the Lakers picks would be nice also.

Jazz fan in peace. In the above trade proposal the Jazz are only getting 1 pick from LAL and giving up 3 rotational players? In addition you want draft compensation from Utah? I don't see that happening. I don't think Westbrook even catches a plane to Salt Lake. He is a buy out candidate.

I was going to respond with "could be one year extinguishing picks", but I forgot that Los Angeles traded all their later year picks to the Washington Wizards for Rui Hachimura. Maybe a 2026 Pick Swap (1-4) and 2027-2029 FRP (1-4).

I agree that Westbrook could be bought out. But the biggest value in this deal, by a wide margin, is an unprotected pick from the Lakers. I don’t think those rotational players are especially valuable, and I would even peg Conley as negative with his extra year.

I just posted this quick to get it straight in my head, each team’s GIVES and GETS, to see if it was close. You have Danny Ainge - I’m sure you’ll get a good deal.

I think Conley would be a great vet presence, along with Slomo, Rudy, Prince. He can help mentor ant as we've seen other guys like Rubio and Bev do.

Russell is better than Conley, seems to have accepted his role, and he’s 26. I think the rumors point to MIN getting additional compensation, which seems fair.

But Conley isn’t a horrible fit. He’s a good guy, comes to MIN already knowing how to feed Gobert, which helps win now. And even though Conley’s $22 mil next year is dangerous, it saves MIN a salary slot if they don’t think they can bring back DLo this summer. It makes me curious how far apart DLo and Connelly were in extension talks, and if that is forcing a trade?

I really need to know what additional compensation MIN receives.

D'lo Russell, Vando, Beverley, Beasley, Bolmaro, Kessler, 4 picks

For

Gobert and Conley.

Even though I think D´Lo is a better player individually than Conley, we have to factor that we might have lost him for nothing this summer, and that he isn´t the best fit to this Wolves team. We are really struggling with turnovers, and having a floor general like Conley (even though he is not in his prime) fits better a team that after the All-Star will have KAT and Ant as the scoring duo. Right away we will miss DLo´s 3 pt shooting, but I´m not sure this will be the last move the Wolves do. If we can also get some Draft compensation and gain financial flexibility, I´m happy with this trade.

*Accepted his current role, without Towns in the picture. When Towns returns, everyone but Ant slides down the pecking order...

Junk, ok player, junk, junk, excellent rookie defender, 4 middling picks

For

HOF defender and stable vet PG.

I have read many times that our problem with this roster is leadership / veteran presence => pecking order => roles

If Conley can organically fit here, providing stability it would be a big step.

we could had save a pick or player if we packaged DLo and Conley in the Gobert trade but considered it picks/players to keep Towns happy now that we prove DLo at point doesn't work.

We need some three point shooting coming back in the DLo/Ried/Nowell trade
