Hypothetically.....
Playing Utah, with their Favors/Gobert frontcourt. Put Edwards at 4 and watch him fly by Favors.

At least we can agree he won't be limited physically or athletically, so he should be able to provide some flexibility as long as he learns discipline around shot selection and defense.

And let the undersized Culver and Okogie continue to get beat up at SF. Not my preference. Move Edwards up.

Or make appropriate trades to bring in a SF.

To me Edwards is a SF. The position he was born to play in the NBA.

To me Edwards is a SF. The position he was born to play in the NBA.
If he's a 3 he's a 4.
But his handles, passing, and physical ability to guard 2s are what will make him a 2, imo.

That kind of thinking means we don't have a SF on the team right now. Layman is a PF Edwards OKogie and Culver are all SGs. I see zero reason not to make SF Edwards primary position.

That’s short term thinking and that’s fine for the short term.
That’s different than “Edwards is born for SF”.

Only? How so? If anything he is a SF first, but can be used as a PF when youve got nothing better.

Difference of opinion. I consider him a PF who can play some SF in a pinch. We don't have a true SF on the team except for Edwards IMO.

I believe Edwards is a natural born SF. That will be the position IMO that he will best dominate at.

See, now you get it. We have no Sf, you can make Edwards play the three, but he should be a 2.

So was Shabazz Muhammad a 2 in your opinion?

Pure size is not the only thing that determines position.
Edwards best position is probably the 2, where he definitely has the quickness to play. Combined with the strength to overwhelm smaller 2s.
He’ll have less size/strength advantage over 3s, including having a reach disadvantage in many of his matchups. Doesn’t mean he can’t play 3, just that it might be more advantageous to play the 2.
Shabazz had no ability to guard smaller/quicker players, shoot, or dribble, thus play the 2 all that effectively on either end.

Kind of, he didn't have a handle for it. Got away with it in high school and UCLA. Fact is, if Bazz was 6'8 or 9 he would have probably been an all star....except the total lack of defense.
Look, I am not saying Edwards can't play the 3, I am saying it isn't his best position.

Big and strong, nope
Can bang in the interior, nope
Stretch 4? 30% 3pt shot, not quite
6-8 athletic string bean 208 lbs who likes to run the court, fast breaks 1st or 2nd guy down the court, drives lanes fast for dunks, cutting and finishes with nimble, compact and acrobatic layups. Occasional game IQ defensive stops. Step on his toe and the season is over. = KGdaBom Power Forward first type of player. yes difference of opinion. For me, it's always about putting your players in their best position to succeed. It's like putting Gibson at PF. You can, but you could get better payoff.
