The point is to shut down speculation when there is not hard evidence. Now the evidence is clearer, so it is more acceptable to comment (though I would encourage people to focus more on the implications than Rosas cratering his career and marriage).
For what it is worth, I kind of thought the rumour was possible, just wanted to be careful to not drag someone innocent on the forum.
