Re: The Rob Dillingham Thread
He's currently the exact same size and weight that Allen Iverson was when he won the League MVP award in 2000.
Anyways, his trainer has plans to get him up to 185, according to Rob.

185 would pretty much be the max he could be. I doubt he ever gets there without getting fat or too muscle bound to move. Yep he's the same size as an MVP who was a massive outlier for size and weight. I hope he can be the next Allen Iverson or better. It's very unlikely he is.

Ham: The speed and quickness to execute those hesitation moves … then that floater he has shown … priceless.

Re: The Rob Dillingham Thread
I haven't read the past posts so I hope I don't duplicate things here but.....
I'm watching Dillingham highlights and I can't help but think he'll play and have a huge impact this year.
This kids offensive skills are amazing. Talk about get to the basket?! When is the last time we had a PG do that? His skills translate big time. I remember thinking that about Steph Curry years ago, he just couldn't be guarded.
Defensive issues? OK, but he'll get you a lot more than he'll hurt you. He is super quick so he should be able to move his feet on defense. Get him some help. Scheme in ways to help him.
This kid will be a fan favorite in no time.
Check this out. This is impressive stuff!! I'm a fan.

Re: The Rob Dillingham Thread
I know these are highlights but he’s a crisp passer.
Ant could actually learn a bit about that.
Also, I expect to see a learning curve with Rudy. Rudy would eff up half of these passes.

Hopefully they give him the time to work through the inevitable bad passes, dribbling into trouble and bad shots early in the season. I'm guessing he plays a majority of the PG minutes in preseason. I would probably rest Conley on every back to back.

That kid has no ball skills and weighs 110, he'll never make it in the NBA.

I am so conditioned over 35 years to expect the worst incompetence that I'm asking myself is this really happening?
It is happening! And I'm over the moon about it.

Seriously, what's there not to work out?
In 3 or 4 years his body will naturally fill out on it's own. You know the Wolves will expedite that by having him in the weight room right away. This guy has skills that will translate.

He has a ton of interesting skills that make him intriguing, but there is a reason why he went eighth overall in a pretty bad draft.
By the end of next year nobody will remember this criticism.

There are plenty of people including Ant and Jaden who gained inches at 20 or 21. I also want to refer you guys back to a Dane Moore pod where new ownership did a guest appearance talking about the emphasis that they, TC, and Finch put on conditioning. The team has everything from professionals, to equipment, to a culture of strength and wellness. I believe the conditioning will take care of itself. For me the question is his play making. When Mike is gone and RD/Ant is your backcourt, can they create enough for everyone else? Ant has been better at it, but has said he doesn’t like doing it all the time. He likes being off ball and letting Mike create things for him, rather than having to create for Jaden, Karl, Rudy, ect… RD being an efficient scorer is excellent. But being a true PG who can distribute and get his own (Like Mike,) is gonna be vital for the Ant window. Otherwise RD is more of a backup to Ant instead of a running mate. That is why I think we need Mike to mentor the kid.
this is all so true. Nobody will question his size 3 years from now.

Re: The Rob Dillingham Thread
One thing i really noticed when watching highlights is how Kentucky runs a system very similar to ours with cutting and corner shooters and that I saw Dillingham making a lot of similar passes to what he will be expected to make here to corner shooters.
He's so lightning quick with the ball, he should be able to collapse defenses easily, but I think at least at the start it will be more beneficial to get him on the floor with a stretch 5 more of the time rather than force him to calculate the difficult spacing calculus necessary with Rudy on the floor. He does have the floater/mid range game necessary to play with Rudy though.
The most difficult thing for him is the huge expectations FInch has on the defensive end, in particular navigating the punishing physicality of the NBA screen game.

Re: The Rob Dillingham Thread
Finch has been playing bad defenders such as Nowell, DLo, Beasley and Milton. It was not the biggest issue. The problem was that Nowell and Milton could not shoot threes at all. DLo could not involve others players, Beasley and Nowell were black holes in offense. If Rob learns how to be a team offense engine - he will have time how to be positive in defense.

Well Finch didn't really have any better options to those guys either.
The minute he got a semi-competent defender in NAW, who was just a salary throw in to the Conley trade at the time, he played him a lot. NAW has the same offensive issues as Nowell and Milton, possibly even worse.
If TSJ can be a solid defender he has a real shot at stealing a lot of NAW's minutes.
Rob is gonna have to give a helluva better effort on that end in the pros though, he was one of the worst defenders in the country in college.
