Mayo is 6'5, can play the SG

Bayless is a 6'3 combo guard. We have one of those already. The only reason he is less turnover prone is he tries less to do things. Wade is pretty turnover prone to, it is a style of play.

Some nice updates from Draft express.

Oj Mayo

A guy that everyone seemed to want to see fail because of the way he was built up by the media early on in his high school career, seems to be having his revenge on his critics, living up to the hype and then some, while doing everything on floor for USC. Is clearly adjusting more and more to college basketball as the year goes on, and is now blossoming into one of the top players in the terrific Pac-10. Mayo is finishing better around the rim, and has consistently been distributing great passes, even if he

How does Hibbert do against athletic frontlines? I am trying to get a better feel on who would be better for the Wolves, Hibbert or Lopez.

Rev what are your thought on Thabeet? Would you also rank him above Jordan?

I'm sure Lopez will eventually adjust to bigger/stronger front lines. It is still a concern, but he will adjust.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

Hibbert is a true 5, Lopez is a tweener. I am confident with Hibbert going against Kaman/Dally/Haywood he has good lower body strength and under rated speed. He isnt the quickest guy, but most 7'3 guys are not. Lopez is more athletic, but Hibbert plays against bigger players better.

Thabeet plays goalie, in the NBA where you cannot wait under the basket every time on defense Thabeet will get in trouble. Also his frame is smaller and his hands are bad. He will be draftd on potential, but I doubt he does much more than Steven Hunter.

What are the recent thoughts on Donte Greene? Is he going to stay in school another year?

Draftexpress says he hasn't been playing very good of late. Has been shooting too many 3s and not making many of them.

If he enters the draft where do you guys see him getting picked? If we miss out on Beasley/Rose/Mayo would Greene be worth trading down to pick up? With his size a Foye/Brewer/Greene trio would be tough to defend.

Thabeet has like 4 inches on Hunter. I have no doubt he will be an impact defender in the NBA. You just have to hope he isn't such a terrible offensive player that you can't keep him on the court.

I imagine once draft measurements come out he will be back in the top 10. There's just not many 6'10" guys with his shooting/athletic talent.

I doubt he will stay in school. Seems like he just doesn't want to have him leaving be a distraction.

A while back all donte did was shoot 3's. As of the last couple games i've seen a WAY more complete offensive game. He's pretty much unguardable one on one in college because he is tall, can shoot 3's, and has excellent quickness and athleticism. I'd sure take a long look at him if we don't end up with one of beasley/rose/mayo.

I will say this about Lopez and his struggles against bigger front lines: look at the situation he is in. He plays with another 7-footer that does nothing on offense, and a 6'8 SF that really ought to be a PF. Their gaurd play is far from spectacular.

What do people expect is going to happen when he goes up against a team with legitimate post players? This isn't an offense that leads to good spacing or a lot of easy buckets. Put any other big man in the country in the same situation, and they will run into the same kinds of struggles.

Somebody has to shoot the ball on that team, and more often than not it turn out to be Lopez. His usage rate is off the charts, and his efficiency is still pretty darn good.

And he destroyed, absolutely destroyed UCLA in that game. Both ends of the floor. He hit multiple big shots, drew constant double teams and fouls, and really made it tough on Kevin Love. Anybody who could watch that game and come away with a less positive impression of Brook Lopez...well, I'll just leave it at that.

I think for the Wolves Donte should be considered in the 3-5 range depending on how the nonrose guards are viewed. Theres plenty of runable 7 footers that MN can look to with their early seconds(or maybe turn those 2nd's into a late first). There's also the high probability MN gives a flier on POB or some other young C that didn't get much burn. POB has as much potential as any center in this draft imo. I think nellie just hates him.

Mayo, Bayless, and Gordon have put up some impressive games, but I see those 3 guys as types of players the wolves already have. Mayo is probably the better of the 3 for the wolves imo.

Donte offers MN something it currently doesn't have. An athletic big with a good stroke to spread the floor more. He also has a decent post up game from what little I've seen, can rebound, and block shots. He could very easily play the 3 or 4, and MN could fill the 5 spot with POB and/or some other big in the 2nd round. With Al taking some minutes at the 5 too.

Because he is the only center prospect in this draft that has star potential, imo. He is a high risk-high reward type pick, no question (maybe too high risk for a #3 pick, idk). He is still very raw and really needs another year or two (or 3) in college but he has a nice combination of size and athelticism that is hard to pass up. If he lives up to potential, a frontcourt of Jordan and Al would be just sick. I can't say that about any other center in the draft.

Hibbert and Thabeet (a raw center who is lower risk-lower reward than Jordan) are safer picks and either could become the best center in franchise history but I don't see either one being a star in the NBA.

That's just my take on him.

I was high on Donte earlier this year, and my opinion of him has been love-hate. Couple reasons.

-Seems slow sometimes. Like he bulked up and lost speed. That is concerning for me.
-the cuse zone does not allow anyone a decent understanding of his defensive ability
-Is he a 3 or a 4? Beasley is asked the same question, but I have more concern about Greene's wing defensive ability right now then Beasley. I was more secure about his defensive ability earlier this year.
-He takes dumb shots and then disappears from the game sometimes. Scores in bursts and then you do not hear anything about him

-of course, he is just a kid and had good tools to work with. If the worst case scenario happens and we end up with the 7th pick or if we trade down for a package then I grab Greene, but only if Beasley/mayo/Hibbert/lopez are off the board.

At the beginning of the season I saw Greene as a 6'10 Sean Elliot that can board a lil and block a lil. His ballhandling and ability to get into the paint has pretty much disappeared which is a concern for me. Honestly I am struggling to get a read on the kid right now. Lately the effort and passion seems to be lacking. With his skill set and those concerns he is looking a little like Tim Thomas. With a rebuilding team we need players who are smart, driven, want to win and have passion. (even if they have slight attitude concerns Mr. Kansas st.)

IMO Brook Lopez is no near the athlete and doesn't have the physical presence that DeAndre Jordan could bring if he reaches his potential.

"if he reaches his potential"

famous last words...

I do not see Jordan as near the athletic prospect of Tyson Chandler even. Kid does not seem to have the drive or the strength to use his frame. "If" the kid puts it all together he could be good, but I just do not see that he wants to yet.

To be honest, I haven't seen enough of Lopez to form an educated opinion. Reading comments like "he has a poor shot selection" and "he struggles against NBA-quality big men" make me question how good he will be at the next level, though. He does have good size and sounds like he has some good offensive ability...idk.

How does his offensive game compare to Al's? It sounds like they may be redundant.
