Replaying through the Witcher 3 (having gotten about halfway through the first time and drifting away for some reason).
Probably the closest thing to being a 'perfect game' that I've ever played. Absolute masterpiece.

Re: The Newest Video Game Thread
I think my 360 is on its last leg....
In order to stay connected to XBox Live, I have to go into the console settings and test the XBox Live connection after every startup. If I do that, it's fine until I shut the console off but if I don't I can't even finish a single game in 2k without it disconnecting me.

Sounds like its time for a PS4

I never played Witcher 3(isn't really my type of game) but have you played Horizon Zero Dawn? That game was excellent, probably my favorite game of the year so far. Game play was fantastic, story on point and I don't think ive seen better graphics. IDK I'm a pretty big fan.

Can't say I have, will give it a go at some stage though as it does look quite good.
Story/immersion in the world are probably the two biggest factors in my enjoyment of a video game which is why I love Witcher so much, also why most of my favourites are from that RPG genre (Mass Effect, Dragon Age etc).

Have heard good things. As far as JRPG's go I haven't really dabbled too far past the SNES Final Fantasy games/Chrono Trigger which I absolutely adored; Chrono Trigger is up there as one of the best games I've ever played.

I'll check it out. I remember reading about it but my plate is already really full with games, just finally got around to beating Just Cause 3, now I'm working on The Narco Road DLC for Ghost Recon Wildlands. I also still have to finish Final Fantasy 15, Fall Out 4, The Division, Titan Fall 2 & Lego Jurassic World. Right now I told myself I'm not buying anymore games until I finish the ones I already have, seeing as at the time I had 8 games that I never even touched and until I knock out atleast 3 of those games I listed I'm not buying anymore new ones except the usual suspects, 2K, Madden, WWe2k and The new Tekken.

Started the second playthrough as soon as I finished the first. Still have dlc to finish, but have no time these days. Objectively speaking, probably the best game i have ever played. Looking forward what project red cooks up next.

Re: The Newest Video Game Thread
Klomp do you use wifi on your xbox? If possible I'd try a wired connection and see if that still goes out. I kind of doubt your xbox having internet issues would have anything to do with your consoles over all health. Could just be having wifi issues which happens form time to time with consoles. Might need to try refreshing your isp address or half a dozen other things if there is a wifi issue.
I played and beat Mass Effect Andromeda. Seemed like it took forever. I think its definitely the weakest of the Mass Effect games. I did however still enjoy it for the most part, it just seems like one of those games that doesn't respect your time very much and throws in a lot of mundane tasks. The story is also not as good as past games.
I really want to check out Persona 5. JRPG's are not really my bag but I have heard too many good things and it just seems like one of those games I will wind up trying that's different and totally enjoy thoroughly. That has happened to me a few times over the years, Yakuza 1 on PS2, Deadly Premonition on 360, and Hand of Fate on Xbox 1. For someone like me who typically can tell almost exactly how much I will like a game just by looking at it, its a pretty cool feeling when something surprises me like that.
I rented and played MLB the Show for a few days couple weeks back. Not really a baseball fan but playing their career mode was really fun. I was breaking records all over the place, great graphics and pretty satisfying commentary/presentation.

I completely agree on Mass Effect Andromeda. I am yet to beat the game but I hardly even load it nowadays. It suffers from poor pacing, you can get stuck on one planet for hours just boringly going back and forth doing sidequests you dont care about, or better yet looking for minerals to scan.... Game is unneceserally big, those sanbox planets that offer nothing but waste time driving from spot a to spot b. For an rpg, loot is boring and dialoque options are a joke.

Re: The Newest Video Game Thread
Another cool feature I discovered, you can change the uniforms and logo throughout the franchise mode when you want. You can even change other teams by going in and selecting control of them to make the changes. I searched online for some new designs. Updated the Grizzlies with a new look and I found a wolves design that was kind of cool. They use the new logo and a new court and uniform. Really gives it that future feel when you can make changes like this.

No volume cause 2K blocks it which is really stupid, but this is what it looks like in motion
The wolves let Towns go to OKC, that rookie they got did quickly get better than Towns and he has pretty much took his place as the corner stone big. He's really, really good and won MVP. Somehow the Lakers have managed to win two champion ships between 2016-2026. Their team was never even that good but they beat way better teams. Also 2K continues to overate Deangelo Russell. In 2K always become great, always winds up better than any wolf. In 2K17 he's scaled back a bit but he still puts up big numbers.
Dunn got moved after a couple of seasons and Rubio still starts for the Wolves but Tyus is about to take his spot. Dunn is finally coming into his own a bit on the Mavericks. Wolves are the best regular season team for a couple years straight now but they keep getting knocked out of the playoffs early. Last season they lost in the first round to the 8th seed. Got swept lol. McHale is coaching the wolves not and Carmelo went back to Denver for three seasons after the Knicks. Lebron one MVP like a year before he retired at 38.He had't won one between the time I started until then.

Yea, I think they really misfired. Also for adult gamers, a lot of them do not have a ton of free time to put into these games these days. I have more than most people my age and even I get bogged down by a game like this. They got to know that a lot of Mass Effect fans who were maybe in their early 20's or late teens when the first came out in 07 are older now and they still want to play but they don't want to be doing all the boring crap they are throwing in there. I spent several hours on these planets that were really not that interesting. Lots of fetch quests, little story development. Someone said it like doing a massively multiplayer online games missions in a single player game and its kind of true. They have you running around doing the lamest things. Compare that to the other ME games where you had big story arcs and huge choices that changed the game.
Not saying you cant make games like this open world but we need that interesting, story driven dynamic too. Look at Wither 3,, that game had very interesting and engaging side quests. Don't make a massive just for the sake of making it massive, there needs to be substance too.

I think you select an arena type when you re-brand like that. You might even be able to make a new arena. The one down side that bothers me is they don't say the team name anymore when you do this. They just refer to the tam by their state. I get that when you have a new name or move them to a new area but I think if its just a physical overhaul they should still say the name.

W3 side quests are better than most games' main quests. Every conversation in that game has cinematic camera angles and all that stuff as well. You invested all the time. Can't praise that game enough.
MEA I appreciate that the game is huge, you get your money's worth at least, but I would appreciate more condensed experience without all backtracking and tedious tasks. But its not the only issue with the game, writing is really not that great. It really shows in loyalty missions. Loyalty missions are good because its a straight story stuff without fillers, but the stories themselves are very underwhelming. I have only done Cora's and Vetra's missions so far, but its more like oh I am kinda into that thing stuff so maybe check it out, hey, than a true loyalty mission. In mass effect 2 all the loyalty missions where very emotionally important to these characters, extremely important. And you understood why they were there. Vetra's mission in Andromeda is a joke, I meant it turns out to be important when you start stirring the pot, but without benefit of hindsight, why is Vetra even interested, its completely unimportant to her. What a joke.

Yea the loyalty missions are weak. My favorite is Liams, its fun and funny. Drack's is decent too. Nothing touches them in ME2. On top of that, in ME2 they had a major impact on the end game. Nothing in Andromeda is consequential, they give you the illusion of agency in regard to how the story will develop but its very shallow. A lot of the quality from the story telling side is scaled back on all fronts. The meat of the game are the non consequential side quests and driving around. I do appreciate the combat, loot, and leveling but its not enough to make up for the story and pacing issues.

Re: The Newest Video Game Thread
Discovered a new change in 2K17.
So they brought back the Jr players again, this time though the commentary refers to them by their last name instead of just number and the PA announcer actually says their whole name without the Jr. Pretty cool, just helps add to immersion. My guess is they added the Jr. feature in late to 2K16 and ddin't have time to program in the announcers saying those names. Hopefully they take it a step further in the future and say the Jr part too. Another cool caveat, the Jr's have their fathers signature styles. Monta has his dad's jumper and layups. They may take after some skills too as this Monta is a good 3pt shooter.

Greatest draft class ever? These are the mid season rookie stats!

Seriosly I have no idea what the hell is going on. Never seen anything this deep in any 2K game. 6 rookies in the 80's already, 5th pick was an 84. Guy picked at the end of the first round was a 72. Insane! Probably 5 hall of famers in this class.
