I don't get it.

Am I the only one who thinks just sitting at #1 and taking Towns is the best option? Draft Towns, try to trade back into the first to get a backup PG. Re-sign KG to a team friendly deal and try to get a solid outside shooter. Hire a new medical staff. Call it a successful offseason.

If Philly would offer Embiid + #3 for #1 that would indicate something with Embiids foot is really wrong.
Sac wouldn't offer the #6 for Rubio either.

You ran into homers discussing. Thats it.

The worst I saw was a homer claiming that we should trade Pek and Martin for the #4.

1. As if that were an allowable trade.
2. As if the Knicks would even consider it.

Homers are funny sometimes.

A fair offer would have to include Bennett.

everybody should make a point of spending some time on the realgm trade board before proposing fake trades so they can see that one man's trash isn't another man's treasure, it's another man's trash

Is possible that Flip thinks Mudiay could be the "new" John Wall (he work with him) ?

I don't want to draft John Wall number 1 when we already have Rubio... Mudiay better be Magic or some complete superstar PG if Flip is going to pass on a big man and lose immense value by trading Rubio.

More of him wanting Wiggins/Mudiay/LaVine to be some sort of a Durant /Westbrook/Harden for us.

Do you think Flip goes big in this draft, meaning get his guy at 1 then trying to trade back up to get Mudiay? I just don't see us having the bullets to do that, unless Rubio has more value in a trade than I think. I wonder if Flip is moving on from Rubio? A lot of smoke.

He could think Mudiay is Wall-lite, but he's not taking him #1. Would he trade Rubio for him? I think probably although as others have said, it's going to be difficult to win for a few years with all that youth.

So realistically, what would we have to add to Rubio to get #6 if Mudiay slides? I think we have no chance at #4 since Rubio is a terrible fit in the triangle? Rubio, Dieng, Bjelica, 31, and 36? Too much? Too little? Does the fact Karl is a known Rubio fan or Vlade probability has some familiarity with Euro prospects help us?

Any possible trade up would be dependent on how much the Kings like Rubio. He would have to be the centerpiece and the other guys would be just moving parts. If they like him, then it's a real possibility. If they don't, then it's a moot point.

I would feel much more comfortable if it were a three team deal with us getting to 4. Mudiay doesn't fit the Knicks style. Getting Porzingis or Winslow would be more in their best interest. As far as compensation I have no clue. I would like to hold on to Wiggins, LaVine, and Muhammed. Everybody is open for discussion.

Mudiay? The guy plays 12 not impressive games in China, putting up similar numbers to 38 year old Marbury (who played 51 games), and some of you guys want to make him our starting PG???

JZ talked to Coach Cal.

http://www.startribune.com/calipari-on-karl-towns-and-wolves-wow-it-s-a-debate/306292951/
By Jerry Zgoda JUNE 5, 2015 — 3:19PM

I talked with Kentucky coach John Calipari this morning about Karl-Anthony Towns and understandably, he sounds like most of Wolves Nation when it comes to the question of who's the No. 1 pick in this draft: Towns or Duke's Jahlil Okafor.

Flip Saunders and his scouting staff are debating that question, and perhaps will do so right up until near draft night.

"Wow, it's a debate?" Calipari said. "It seems lilke that would be the only city there would be a debate in."

Saunders loves Okafor's footwork and fundamentals -- so advanced at such a young age, 19 -- and at the moment appears to still favor him.

Calipari, though, backs his own guy because of what he defines as Town's versatility: A big man with a guard's shooting range, who can defend the pick-and-roll prevalent in today's NBA block shots and score both inside and outside.

And the topper, it seems, to Calipari is this:

"The greatest thing for Minnesota if they choose to pick him is, he wants to be there," he said. "You can take either guy and maybe Jahlil feels the same way, I don't know. I just know Karl Towns, if they choose to take him, wants to be there."

Calipari was referring to national speculation that Okafor -- part of it judging from a glum expression when the Wolves won the draft lottery last month -- wants to play in Los Angeles for the Lakers, who own the draft's second pick.

"Karl's the one guy who's like, `I'm fine with Minnesota, I'd like to be in Minnesota,' " Calipari said. "There's no, like, "Well, I could go to the Lakers.' That isn't who he is.That isn't his family, either. As soon as the lottery balls hit, he called me and said, `Coach, I'm good in Minnesota, I'm fine there.' "

I'll save most of the rest of what Calipari said for our draft coverage as we get closer to June 25, but he did he thinks Towns is more power forward than center in the NBA and that, just like his former big men Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins, if you put the right roster of players around them, all three have the talent and drive to potential league MVPs.

"Karl's body will catch up to him and in time all three of them will have a chance," he said. "They're all that good."

In talking to execs, I've heard Jahlil Okafor compared to Tim Duncan and Karl Towns compared to David Robinson. How lucky were the Spurs?

On Basketball Twitter, there's this perception that there's a huge gap between Towns and Okafor. Executives literally laugh at that.

Well if they think they are getting the next Duncan when drafting Okafor, I am laughing right back at them.

Interesting he sees him as a PF. I wonder if Flip feels the same? If Flip - who's already called out lack of strength in the paint as a weakness - is valuing the size/strength to body up in the paint, that could make a difference. We already know he likes to post up, work mismatches, and create open jumpers.
