Porter is not a 3&D player. Fans from Washington boards came here and explained it. He is a good player, but I would rather have Miles on that TOR contract than Porter on WAS contract with all kickers and other stuff included. Let alone trade Wiggins for him.

Yeah the skill set of LaVine is a better fit but two things... First the injury, you never know how this will impact a player long term especially one who relies heavily on his athleticism. Second, the bulls likely preferred LaVine to Wiggins due to fit in Hoiberg's "System".

I like Wiggins, I am still willing to see what the next few years brings out in him. Hell no to Porter on that deal.

He has the most to prove on this team by far.

This upcoming max contract is 99% based on potential.

Love when he posterizes nurkic and snaps back with some trash talk. The game slowed down and he showed significant improvement. Offensively he's already elite, he can get whatever shot he wants. he's just gotta focus more on defense now that he and KAT doesn't have to do everything on offense

Wiggins isn't elite on offense yet. he's still inconsistent and needs to become more efficient. His defense needs to improve tremendously, especially someone with all the tools.

Thibs called him already an elite offensive player in a SL interview, which is why I echoed him :D Yeah he needs to keep improving, but I think the fact that he can get whatever shot he wants to is the key. He got so much better at finishing with contact every single year and he's got that very unique speedy euro step. He can pull up, he can score with his back to the basket, he can fade away, he can take you off the dribble, he's got it all. Went from 30 to 35% from 3 point range, and he said last summer he was working on that shot so I don't see why fans have to doubt his future growth.

Best poster dunker in the NBA.

A passive guy does not dunk on people with that type of ferocity.

The challenge with Wiggins is keeping him engaged. The moments when he doesn't have the ball or he's not guarding the ball are when he loses focus.

Does anyone think he will sign for Butlers price? Like another reason butler was brought in is to show a star at his best and a fair market value for the team? Like Wiggins signs for 5/100 or 105?

I mean Teague also... 18 is the magic number, right???

I don't think any same person gives up 50 million out of the goodness of their heart.

However, I really do hope he gives a couple of million discount per year.

He's had stretches where he was pretty decent on defense last season ... its really hard to know how these young guys will evolve defensively. His jumper overall has been gradually improving to broaden his offensive production. If he can start showing some increase in assist #'s and better rebounding, he's dam solid NBA caliber player and potential perennial all-star.

Aside from the obvious hope in Wiggins' defensive game taking a big step forward, I'm most excited to see how his 3-point shot works this year. I can't find the tweet, but someone broke down his shooting percentages and his catch-and-shoot 3 was VERY efficient. If he can get a few more catch-and-shoot looks playing off Butler, Towns & Teague, he could really address a lot of overall concerns, both from his own "efficiency" issues as well as the team's lack of 3 point shooting.

I was rooting through Wiggins' basketball reference page and a couple interesting things stood out to me when we talk about how much he has or hasn't improved.

1. He played way more SF last year. Positional estimate is 68% of his minutes came at SF as a rookie, 64% SF year 2 and last year he played 93% of his minutes at SF. I wonder how that affected a player most of us see as a SG.

2. He's been clearly extending his range each year even if last year was the first bump in 3 point shooting we saw. His FG% on long 2s (16 feet out to toes-on-the-line 2s) has increased significantly every year:
30.5% in 2014-15
34.7% in 2015-16
38.3% in 2016-17

Of course this doesn't excuse his lack of improvement in other areas (defense, rebounding) and the advanced stats still don't like him. But just a couple interesting things that stood out to me. Based on the trend I think at the very least we can expect to see more improvement of his jumper next year and likely another tick up in 3pt shooting.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

Yeah Wiggy at the 2 is going to be a very difficult matchup for teams especially when they still have to guard teague, butler and KAT. God dam that Wiggins +Butler combination on the Wings is dynamic.

Some tidbits from wiggins while on his tour in korea ( suprisingly, a pretty big following) during some interviews with the media

Rubio trade

Talked about how the nba is a busines etc...etc..

KG +first couple of years

He talked slot about kg and how much of role model he was for him during their time together and they still talk now. Brewer was the other guy that he talked to alot in his early years.

GSW

He was asked if he agreed with the early prediction that GSW will again. (Really surprised by his answer)

He said, "I am going to make sure we're going to win," he said. "We have a great team, a great coaching staff, great fans. We're going to work hard toward (the championship)."

Butler, taj, teague, and crawford

We are all unselfish and we will build our chemistry in practice. He hasnt talked to them yet, but he will fly back to minnesota to meet with them as soon as he can. Coach stresses defense, and with so many new members, he wants to get on the court and start working with them.

Defense
Every year he had a new coach in this league and Thibs has alot of different strategies to get used to last year. This year his focus is trying to limit easy shots, especially around the basket.

Contract extension

Wiggins said he'd love to remain with the Timberwolves for the long run.

"Minnesota is where home is, and they gave me a chance," he said. "I've grown with them."

Best friend in nba

KAT.

Goals

Gold medal for canada in the olympics, minnesota playoffs, and an all star selection.

He has been a high-volume scorer during his first three years in the league, but has yet to register a true shooting percentage at or above the league average in his career. He's done precious little creating for others and has considerably below-average rebounding numbers for a player his size. There were 63 players 6-foot-8 or shorter that used at least 20 percent of the team's possessions last season—Wiggins ranked 50th in assist rate. And out of the 111 players that stood between 6-foot-6 and 6-foot-9 and qualified for the minutes per game leaderboard, Wiggins ranked 83rd in rebound rate.

With his long arms, elite athleticism, and rangy quickness, it's no surprise that Wiggins also carries a reputation as an impact defender, but nearly every statistical measure paints him as a negative defensive player. He's been rated negatively by Basketball-Reference's Defensive BPM, FiveThirtyEight's Defensive Plus-Minus, and ESPN's Defensive RPM during each of his three NBA seasons, and ranked 92nd out of 94 shooting guards in ESPN's stat last season. (Wiggins played mostly small forward last year but the wing positions are largely interchangeable in today's NBA and his -3.16 Defensive RPM still would have ranked 70th out of 72 at the three.)

I think with all the trade speculation Wiggins might be holding out for a no trade clause.
