Last night's game finally convinced me that this team is an utter dumpster fire and needs to be blown up, and we need a new coach and management.

We have no plan or identity and no clue how to play together. Alot of that is on the coach, but alot is also on the players.
Joeger is a great coach. Sacramento has pretty mediocre talent, but they have a plan and an identity.

PG who can push the ball and 2 wings who can shoot and know how to spot up. A big who can defend the pnr and cut to the basket.
Throw in a stretch 4 and that has largely become the blueprint for most successful teams nowdays.

I really like buddy hield and still would have taken him over murray and dunn. Good 2-way player and I think he's only going to get better.

We have a once in a generation big who doesnt know where to be on the floor most of the time, and that's sad. That he scores the way he does is a testament to talent alone. While other bigs are getting constant easy dunks KAT is twisting himself into knots for his points. He's got to figure out the way to stop a lob is putting your body into the guy, not flailing after the pass.

We arent going to compete for the next 2-3 years. We should be looking for capspace and draft picks, because honeslty, its going to take a winning lottery ticket to put us into contention in the west, and we need as many as we can get.

We need to get something for all of our expiring assets if we can, not just jimmy. Teague, Taj, Tyus, Tolly, even Rose, even if it means picking up draft picks by trading an expiring for a 2 year deal.

If we can turn Gorgui into a 2 year deal, great. If not, it will be less expensive to do it next summer.

Play Okogie and KBD and see what we have in them.

As for Jimmy.
I like Josh Richardson, but he can be an unrestricted free agent in 2021.
So in 2 years, we're in same boat as we are now with Jimmy.
I don't like any of their cap filler outside of a gorgui/whiteside swap.

Houston
4 1sts, if last 2 are unprotected is appealing.
But eating Brandon Knight's contract, which you would have use 2 of those to move for an expiring, is not.
If they swapped out Knight for Gordon, and we could move gordon for an expiring and a 1st round pick, I might be interested.
I don't like shrink's idea of adding a gordon/taj swap to the existing offer, those 2 have similiar value.

Philly has the best assets of interested teams, but they also have the cap space to sign him next summer.
And they also understandably should be worried about how he affects their chemistry. Althought if Jimmy tried to pull the same crap with Embiid he does with KAT, I have a feeling he'd get a much different reaction.

That unprotected Miami pick they own is worth 2-3 of those Houston 1sts. And they own a lot of 2nds from really bad teams that are almost as good as a late 1st. They have good contracts to salary match with chandler and bayless. Saric is a young talent who we could potentially hold onto for 5-7 more years. I think throwing in Taj also would make a lot of sense for them.
I would make them a strong offer of Butler and Taj for chandler, bayless, muscala, saric, miami 1st, 2019 bulls 2nd rounder, 2020 nets 2nd rounder.

I wouldn't mind taking Knight's deal. This season and next season could just be spent carrying bad contracts to their completion: maybe Taj, then Teague and Knight, then Gorgui. Could even take more bad contracts for picks.

Hard to believe just 29 months ago we had a set core and were looking at almost $70M in upcoming cap space. C'est la Thibs

I’m fine with the Houston deal as long as the picks are unprotected or very lightly protected. In a perfect world it’s be something along the lines Gordon/Knight/picks for Dieng/Butler but I don’t see Houston taking on that much long term money.

Jimmy now calling out Thibs. This is a disaster season for the coach. Management cant look any worse right now. (well it could but its already damn bad)

Can add in Taj/Teague and Butler last year asking for less minutes

Has there literally been any other player in the last two seasons on any team that has asked for less minutes

I realize this isn't 2k19 here...but honestly

Take as many lowly protected picks as we can get from HOU for Butler.
Fire Thibs. Hire a new GM and coach.
Deal KAT to the highest bidder.
Deal anything of value for bad contracts + first round picks.
Tank the remainder of the season with Wiggins as the tank commander.
Develop Okogie, Tyus and KBD.

Get top 5 picks in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Consolidate the combination of 1st round picks we got for our squad to move up in the draft.

I am sick of this mess of a team.

Why should the team develop Tyus? He’s not that good and if he weren’t from Minnesota the fans would have wanted him gone a long time ago

Showcase him. Resign him to low $ contract. Maybe someone will bite and offer some asset then.

I don't think Taj makes any sense for Philly, especially when they are sending out a stretch big like Muscala. Need all the space they can get with Simmons, and Butler incoming.

Bayless/Chandler to match Butler's salary.
Bolden (big fan of his potential, like players who have been exposed to Euroball) plus those picks you listed would be clearly better than Houston's Knight/Chriss/picks offer, which I'm assuming is the best offer Wolves can get at this point.

Can try to move Bayless/Chandler/Taj expirings to teams looking to clear cap space next summer. I think close to half the league is projected to have $20 mil plus in space so it won't be particularly valuable. Wolves can take in $20 mil + next season even assuming Teague opts-in

No reason to trade KAT
https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/9/27/17910312/karl-anthony-towns-tom-thibodeau-wolves

Just follow this blueprint and get a roster around him to do it (spread pick/roll offense, switching defense)

For the record, I have said that including the Taj for Gordon swap should include HOU reducing, or unprotecting, the 2023 and 2025 picks. I don’t think we get unprotected picks in the original deal. Woj called them “limited protected.”

I agree that the two have similar value for us (both decent contracts, though Gordon fits a bit better after the trade and helps Thibs with Taylor), but it is highly advantageous for the Rockets, and we should be able to get additional value from including this.

Good post.

Philadelphia package to Minnesota includes Robert Covington, Dario Saric, and likely a draft pick, league sources said. Sides exchanged medicals to complete deal.
