I sorry but we need to get Randle off this team. Rudy isn't going anywhere with that new contract and just like the DLo situation these two just aren't going to get along and Randle has never been a winner anywhere. We have to serve another month until Dec.15th but this would be the best trade I could find with the restriction we have.

Julius Randle OUT (might include the DET 1st)
Malcolm Brogdon and Jonas Valanciunas IN

Washington is going no where and could pay Randle the contract he will want in the offseason plus they should be trying to tank and the extra 1st could be the icing on the cake. Randle can also opt out so the expiring contact might be worth it too. They might be able to flip him to a 3rd team too. Maybe send him to Portland for DeAndre Ayton and a pick.

We get to balance out the roster more on defense. We would have the best 1/2 punch at Center in the outside of Dallas Maybe? Fixes our issues with Rudy off the court. Jaden would have to start playing the 4. Naz would never have to play the 5 again. Brogdon another 3/D player who can also help us with a ball handler that we need. Only issue is Dilly's minutes would take another hit.

Conley
Ant
Brogdon
Jaden
Rudy

Dilly
Donte
NAW
NAZ
Valaciunas

Very balanced rostered an a bunch of guy who can shoot the 3. I would try and sign Brogdon to a 3 year extension who might be willing to take a team friendly deal at his age vs NAW who will more then liking want to get paid for the 1st time.

BRO IN: Zach Lavine, DET FRP
BRO OUT: Cam Johnson, Bogdanovic
Why for BRO: get pick, get LaVine as salary filler during rebuild

CHI IN: Julius Randle, Bogdanovic
CHI OUT: LaVine, J.Smith
Why for CHI: split LaVine contract into expiring Bogdanovic and Randle

MIN IN: Cam Johnson, J.Smith
MIN OUT: Julius Randle, DET FRP

Gobert/Smith/Garza
Reid/Johnson/Minott/Miller
MCD/MInott/TJ/Ingles
Edwards/NAW/DDV + Clark
DDV/Conley/Dillingham + Nix

I thought I would bring over another Cam Johnson trade someone made on the Trade Board

Randle + Pistons FRP x C.Johnson + Sharpe/Clowney

why for Nets
they have the full roster on the block
C.Johnson is a good player, but not an all star
they acquire the Pistons's FRP that is becaming interesting beacause of the low level of the Easterne Conference make the Pistons a potential playoff team (so the pick can be a lottery pick in 2025)
I don't think any other team can put on the table block a potential lottery pick

why for Timberwolves
C.Johnson is a tweener SF/PF that can be interchangeable with McDaniels, is a player who has a low number of turnovers, and a good 3-point shot, he is a better defender than Randle
in addition Johnson has a good contract for more two years, while Randle in an expiring
Minnesota put Garza in rotation or sell Reid in another trade (for example in exchange of an expiring contract and a protected FRP)

Minnesota rotation after the trade (I suppose, for example, a Reid's trade for FRP and S.Adams)
Conley-Dillingham-DDV/NAW
Edwards-DDV-NAW
McDaniels-NAW-Minott
[d]C.Johnson[/b]-McDaniels-Minott
Gobert-Clowney/Sharpe-Garza-Adams

what do you think about this trade?

I just wanted to mention to anyone making Cam Johnson trades, his unlikely incentives make him considered $27 mil to apron teams.

Just a heads up, I get that they hoped DDV could play backup PG, but he clearly cannot. I get that they thought they had KAT to play backup C, but if the FO is even thinking of trading KAT we need a real C2, not Luka Garza. We were terrible in free agency. The ghost of Joe Ingles is unplayable. PJ Dozier is unplayable. Garza is a career 3rd string C who will never be a true C2. We wasted 3 roster spots and then downgraded from KAT to have an unbalanced mess. Trading Randle won’t fix it, because it is deeper than just getting off a toxic player. Our roster is not built for contention if DDV cannot play PG and Rudy cannot play 48 minutes. We have young guys who might show us something, but until they get that chance, our roster has too many holes for a single trade to fix anything.

I would agree with you, unless you can get multiple players that could fill those roles in the Randle trade.

What can we realistically expect for Randle if Kat only got us him and DDV? Nobody is going to give us the farm for him. Players' value immediately plummets when they touch a wolves' jersey.

Randle, Jaden, DDV, Rudy, Naw, and even Naz need to be considered as potential trade options if you ask me. Honestly, a complete overhaul might need to be considered as well. Too many non-shooters on this team still to be taking the kind of volume they take.

Also, Minott isn't saving this team either cause he's definitely not it. I want to get a look at Rob, Ant, and TSJ. We need to get out in transition for some easy buckets and they all seem willing to run and push pace in that area. Everyone else is slow and plotting (aside from Naz and Naw).

Read on Twitter

Can someone explain me whether following scenario is realistic:

- we let Randle go
- we sign Tyus Jones as FA for MLE type of deal
- we re-sign Reid

It gets tricky when you are in the 2nd apron, have 15 on the roster already, and are making the trade mid season with less time to figure out the chemistry and locker room stuff. I agree it is not impossible, but it is far from optimal.

They can be traded immediately, as long as their contracts aren’t aggregated, and they can’t be traded back to NY this season.

Since the Wolves can't aggregate contracts anyway, there has never really been a trade restriction (at least not more of one than there will be at the trade deadline).

I thought there was a window where they could not be traded because they were traded for.

You’re probably thinking of the two month window to aggregate them with other contracts in trade. The trade date of October 3rd was about two months ago. We could have traded Randle individually the day he was traded to us.

The rest of those trade delays are usually for newly signed free agents, like Dec. 15th unlocks most of the Summer Free Agents.

How about DD to Spurs for Tre Jones and Bassey?

Will go for it! DDV ( a bit too early to jump into conclusion) but seems to be a Beasley style , can have hot series but non consistent...

My thoughts are that he would start for the Spurs and provide more floor spacing for Wemby. We get a starting quality point guard to pair with Rob and Mike. And a legit backup center.

I would still trade Randle after this

We don't have any assets to relieve pressure here. IMO our biggest bad contract is Jaden. We need to move him, but the problem is that he's playing like dogwater. If I was Connelly I'd ask him to stop thinking about wins at this point and focusing on getting maximum value out of two guys, Jaden and Randle. See if we can run the offense off of those two guys.

If we can get Jaden up to 15-17 pts per game at 35% from 3, I think we could move him for some assets. He's honestly not a huge catch. At this point we're so starved for a facilitator I'd take an expiring Ben Simmons, Sharpe, and a few picks for him. If next year he can play the Kyle Anderson role for us that would be great. See if we can move Randle at the same time, for a 4 that can do 3&D. Id honestly try to use some of those picks to go after Lauri Markannen. (I know it's a huge **** long shot). If not Markannen I think we should see if the Blazers could bail us out. Jerami Grant, Scoot H, Avidja for Randle, Conley, and whatever picks we net from the trade from McDaniels.

Roll out
Dillignham/Henderson
Ant/NAW
Avidja/Simmons
Grant/Reid
Gobert/Sharpe

Not sure how it would play out but atleast our contract situation would be better, we'd have some potential we could craft, and we wouldn't be so totally miserably ****.
