In the end, not knowing the internal aspects of the team, I'd probably do that trade if it were possible. Too intriguing of a skillset in an area we lack.

LOL, It's not just Smitch. Last season it was the same clown show plus Flip who was part of the problem. We have guys who had been without the job for a while till Flip called them and we have guys who got jobs through nepotism. We have no recognized defense specialist and no offense guru. We just have a bunch of clowns. When I hear them speak Adelman Jr seems like the most intelligent among them to me.

I would have thought that the majority of fans would have gone for a combination of Rozier and draft choices.

Would Rozier, dallas #1 and pick #31 and your two seconds '16 & '17 do it?

I would reject it now. Maybe if on draft night there's someone at Dallas pick.
As for Crowder, not even for top5-10 pick before the draft ???

Not for me. I want players to mix in with our youth, not more youth and picks, particularly late picks in a relatively weak draft.

I like Olynyk's shooting. Methinks his defensive stats are propped by Steven's system though.

Smitch has assisted for George Karl and Lowe has assisted for the Czar and both have head coaching experience too. It's not like they never had any coaching experience other than when Flip gave them jobs. Flip gave them jobs because he knows them of course, but all head coaches have certain guys they prefer as assistants and travel in those packs whenever possible.

I said they had been out of NBA job for a while before Flip called them up, nobody wanted them. Lowe's last NBA gig ended in 2006 (Flip was his boss). And when they get fired again it will be the end of them because Flip...

We finally start building chenistry with Dieng and Towns and you guys want to pull this BS? F**** that. Crowder was a nobody before Boston, hes like Demarre Carroll, a complete system player.

Keep the chem we have and keep building it thats how you get great teams. Look at all these 'super' teams of the past and you have an analogy.

I thought with Olynyk only having one year on his deal he was not that attractive to a team trying to build.

Teams would have to overpay to get Dieng from us. I think he's making a case to be part of our "core" group with how well he's played with KAT sine being put into the starting 5.

A Dieng - Olynyk swap would probably give both teams the same results. As bad as Olynyk is defensively, Dieng is right up there with him. The upside is when Dieng is actually in position (which is rare), he DOES block shots. Olynyk offers more shooting though. It's a meh kind of deal. Would I do it? Probably, just because this team lacks shooting.

dang, didn't realize I had such an uncommon opinion in thinking Dieng is better than Olynyk lol. At best I see a lateral move where I guess we get some shooting out of it but it's kind of like replacing rubio to get better shooting, at what cost?

Plus I'm never really a fan of going after a mediocre player in a good system with good coaching and hope they perform the same in our crappy system, just look at Bjelica.

Nope, I wouldn't move Gorgui for any of those guys. Chemistry is important.

I would not take that deal for Gorgui. At all of those picks you're hoping to land on a player like him. We got him in the low 20s and he was a surprise. Chances are if you are all seemingly so ready to move off of Rozier its because people see he was a marginal prospect coming out, and while he could still become a player, he probably has a relatively low ceiling. As for the first, that is somewhat tempting, but our bigs are humming right now. I'd rather see if Dieng/Towns could be a legitimate starting front court than take that package with a lot of low picks.

I agree with this post. We know that Wolves fans are probably overvaluing him, but I think this is a case for chemistry. He has played well as a starter and we've beaten some good teams. I'd like to chase that feeling!

But really, he is a mobile big on a decent contract that contributes on both sides of the ball. He is not a star, but I think part of the appeal to other team's fans is that he appears to be attainable. Well we like him for all the same reasons you all do. I hope we don't move anyone from this core: KAT, Wiggins, Lavine, Rubio, Gorgui, and Shabazz. If we do, let it be over the summer. For now, treat that as a core and a near core (3 then 3) with Bjelica and Tyus being players we are still looking at. Add another top 5 pick and a lot of cap room, then readdress where we are.

The idea right now is to consolidate assets into players that fit with KAT and Wiggins.

Trading Dieng for Rozier, Dallas #1 and fivethousand 2nd round picks is exactly the direction we shouldn't go.

We should be consolidating, but people tend to fall in love eith certain players and get blinded.

I agree that we should be looking to fit pieces around kat, wiggins and probably rubio.

Some believe that lavine is a core piece.
Some have dieng included.
Some have bazzy included.
Some want to continue just adding talent and wait to see what sticks.

The hard part is done; wolves have 2 clear core pieces that any team would love to build with. These 2 arent marbury/kg nor tmac/vc.
Kat and wiggins fit on and off the court.

However, all this is moot if the front office is inept.

I understand the feelings of the fans, I just look at it as in soon when he is a rfa he is not going to be happy backing up Towns, and will look to move on anyway to get a payday in line with his skill set. Now if the team want to pay him as a starter and play him back up min, then he would more likely stay.

I think consolidating assets should happen when a team is positioned more like the Celts are now, already in the playoffs with a 3rd or forth seed and your looking for the final pieces for a 9 deep roster. The Wolves want to be there in two years, but will Dieng be there for the team? The Wolves are now what a projected 25-28 win team, Even if you win 25% more games next year you are still not in the playoffs. And that #31 is great for stashing European players.

All the more reason not to do anything big until the GM/POBO and coach positions are finalized in the offseason. I think it's pretty clear that the current decision makers view the core as KAT, Wiggins, LaVine, and Dieng with Rubio (and maybe Shabazz) on the bubble. The decision makers could change this summer, though.

I don't see any reasonable definition of core piece that includes Wiggins but not LaVine unless the definition is we got him for Love and he was the 1st pick in the draft
