This is fairly significant on both counts. Rosas has talked repeatedly about sign and trades. This creates an avenue for it. If not, the luxury tax difference matters too.

Wish it was a 2021 2nd, but that could still be coming.

Ugh. This wasn't exactly surprising after a season with a lot of ups and downs, where there were more dows than ups, but still it kinda feels like four years ago when Ricky was traded for the first time. It just hurts.

And I feel terrible for him that he ends up in Cleveland.

Initial thoughts...I like the trade...especially since we are getting SRP back and also helps in bringing down salary(Prince salary is $4.5M less than Rubio)...Rubio was bad last season (especially the first half of ssn)...isn't Prince a PF? Fills the need perfectly and also seems like an average 3 pt shooter. I don't know much about his defense but this seems like a pretty decent trade from Rosas

Prince is pretty good as a small ball 4. Should form a nice rotation there with McDaniels. Maybe Juancho is on the move.

He's in a similar mold as Covington.

He's always rated poorly on the on/off stats since he doesn't get many Reb/Stl/Blks

But it seems like hes always matched up with the better opposing wing/combo forward type when I've seen him

Ok now after knee jerk… if he can shoot 3s/play D and body some 4s…I’m down. We don’t need scorers, we need the other glue guys that don’t need to create shots to be effective.

I always thought he profiled very similarly to DeMarre Carroll who had a couple of good bounceback years as a smallball 4 w/ DLO in BKN

I love Ricky and I'm always going to support him through his career but this is actually a good trade.
Prince gives us another good option in a position of need. Also, Ricky is still too good to be a backup PG in this league.

I'm good with this.

I hope he can become Wolves version of Jae Crowder....then again I don't know much about his defense

I'm curious how we view backup PG now. Bolmaro isn't a pure PG by any means, maybe JMac on a long-term, Hinkie special type deal? Weren't we interested in some European player last year (not Campazzo, someone else). In terms of filling the veteran leadership void, I'd love to bring back James Johnson on a minimum

I still find it hard to believe WE got the 2nd/cash.

But if so, I like the deal. It saves us about 5mil and according to Fanspo puts us at just over 10mil below the tax. That gives us options, namely the full MLE, that we didn't have before.

Prince isn't anything special but he's fine. If he can hit some 3s and play some defence that's enough. Here's an end of season review of him from a Cavs blog if anyone's interested.

He's in a similar mold as Covington.

I agree that Covington is the best comparison that we are the most familiar with
