I've liked him for a long time but he really has been a disappointment as a player. Something is off there with him. I hate to say it but I'd pass on him.

It sounds like he took a leave of absence to deal with some personal stuff and Dallas eventually waived him for Chriss. If everything is alright and he’s ready to return to basketball he’d be a huge get for Minny and fit with what they want/need at the 5. Has history with KAT at college too.
If WCS is able to play again he would be a great addition. The question is whether he has resolved whatever issue he was dealing with. I'm guessing Dallas only waived him because they didn't see him being available in the foreseeable future.

We need to wait till March to stay under the tax. Literally not possible this week.

We do not need to wait if the player is signing a minimum contract for the remainder of the year. We will not go into the luxury tax. The rate that a minimum player counts against the cap is not that high, and it is pro-rated for the portion of the year remaining.

Somewhere on this thread or the trade thread Gupta specifically said we would add someone in March when they wouldn’t put us over the tax. You could be right, but my understanding is it has to wait.

If they are saving the $334,375 x 2 and they only have $825K under the cap, that means they want to wait until March 24th to sign someone. Not exactly early March. Maybe by early April, they will have decided that at least one of the bonuses is completely safe from not being paid out?
