I’d think he’d want more money than we can offer and with what happened with his dad I’m not sure he’d wanna play here.

I’ve come back around to targeting Turner in trades, but if he is too expensive or if the injury causes concern then I’d be looking at Jalen Smith.

And that dream is officially deader than dead.

all I know about Brunson is from Fantasy basketball. When given minutes he scores very well. Is he also a pesky/irritant defender? :o

If so absolutely bring him in.

Minnesota has absolutely zero pathway financially to getting Jalen Brunson, outside of a sign-and-trade that the team would regret.

Its possible.
It would have to be a 3 team sign and trade situation involving Prince.

But if we do it right we could offer up to 16 mill per year.

Tough because of base year compensation issues (sign and extend?), teams receiving a S&T player hard cap themselves (issue for some teams) plus finding matching salary since we won’t give Naz a contract like Turner’s.

You mean the Pacer's wouldn't right?

If we even sign Naz to 14 a year can't we then trade for turner at 18 assuming we can extend him?

Would we not be able to use an MLE after that?

Portis or Boucher for PF spot via FA
S&T Prince for an eventual Bev decline/ replacement
Reid for Turner S&T

Go for a Dlo upgrade at next trade deadline

Sorry for the brief reply. I was on my way out of town when I noticed the post.

Yes, you are correct - the Pacer’s probably wouldn’t want to hard cap themselves. We would also hard cap ourselves if we used the full, non-taxpayer MLE, but that wouldn’t be an issue for us.

I mentioned the BYC because I’m thinking if we are going to pay Naz a big salary, it better be in a sign-and-extend so we (or whoever we trade him to), at least gets one discount year up front. BYC makes trades hard because Naz has two values for salary matching, his contract cost for one team, and the average of all the years of the contract for the other. But yes, we could waive that year and sign him to $14.

Yes to using the MLE after that.

I too would love to upgrade on DLo but what are the realistic options we have?

I think many of us Wolves fans have an IMO irrational dislike for a few of our players. Russell probably gets the most criticism followed by KAT and Naz Reid. I don't think any of these three needs to be replaced.

I like DLo but I do not want DLo at a max contract...that will end up crippling team's future imo..especially with KAT likely getting a super max and Ant getting a rookie max extension, almost 90% of cap would be tied to just these 3 players and I am not confident that this is a title winning core.

Murray on the Spurs.

We would have to give up picks but it could be done.

If it was less than a match for Turners salary how would it be a hard cap? I'm not following.

Acquiring any player in a sign-and-trade, regardless of the contract, triggers the hard cap.

Dlo needs to take a discount or gtfo.

Definitely need to sign one of Portis, Boucher or Jalen Smith?

Draft Jeremy Sochan when he falls to 19 , move up from second to draft Hardy in late first if he is there(he will be a steal and replace Nowell and Beasley in a few seasons) and then move up in early second to draft Tschiebwe and wolves are done.

I like Smith, but I'd rather have a more polished name. I wouldn't mind it if we can't Portis, between Boucher and Smith, its a toss up.

I think at this point we need more vets. Role players like Pat Bev.

i also want to upgrade DLO.
