I wouldn't want to take him. Already two teams have given up.

I would take him for some kind of protected 2nd, but wouldn't be outraged if we passed either.

NYK had to give a protected first just to get him. I doubt we give anything like that. They would sooner move Toppin to make room for Reddish than move Reddish to clear roster space.

Bingo.
I somewhat understand the fascination with him, however, what has he exactly shown? Reminds me of players like Anthony Randolph and Kevin Knox -- potential that never materializes.

How many teams gave up on Chauncey Billups?

I liked Chauncey a lot and was bummed we moved him. I was right.

There are always exceptions, however, are you planning to chase each and every one?

How are you so certain that Billups is the exception and not Randolph and Knox? JaVale McGee, Ish Smith, Trevor Ariza, PJ Tucker...all examples of guys who bounced around early in their careers. All still have had very successful careers.

Reddish was selected 10th.
I compared him to selections close in lottery range. You jumped the shark throwing in a top-3 pick. And then further muddied the waters with any old player who carved out a career.

We have the BAE and if I understand correctly we can use it and still not go into the lux.

We are required to have at least 13 players. Even then we must go up to 14 within a time period (drawing a blank on the specifics of that period.) We also need to sign our two way players. We could also try and trade Naz. The problem with that is he doesn’t make much. With salary matching we can only take back around 2.5 million. I figure a backup PG, backup PF, Minott and Knight. Or Minott and backup PF and then Wright and Knight on two way deals.

We are just under $7 million under the lux right? If we use the BAE which is $4 something million would adding the required additional players push us into the lux or not? I'm confused about this.

I don’t know the exact numbers. Assuming the full 4 in BAE and around 2 for another vet minimum, we should still be under the tax. Two ways don’t count against the cap or tax. However, we wouldn’t have enough left over to sign a 15th until things become prorated towards the end of the year. So no buy out market. Better to try and shave off around 1.5 from the BAE and use it on number 15 at the trade deadline on a bought out or waived player.

Re: Next move
If we use BAE this year, that means we can't use next year, correct? If so, may be more valuable to keep in pocket for next year & not force it if that right fit isn't out there?winforlose wrote:KGdaBom wrote:winforlose wrote:

Pretty confident we could get another backup C on minimum, so if you can get G/wing that you like for Naz...gotta do that don't you? Thinking say...Naz to Orl for RJ Hampton (Connelly pick)...hasn't done a ton yet...but was always going to be a development guy & he's really positionally blocked since being moved in AG deal?
Another Connelly guy that's out there...that maybe could get on minimum that I'd be interested in: PJ Dozier....coming off ACL....very Jalen Williams-like (which sounded like Wolves really liked)...still like only 25...think he only got moved this year was more for the short term push & maybe already knew it was going to be difficult to resign?

I am still not convinced Naz cannot play the 4 next to Gobert. He was developing into a rim protector towards the end of the season. If guys get past him they run into Rudy. Naz spaces the floor (especially from the corner.) Can work well in the paint and can back people down off the dribble. The same things that work well in KAT’s fit with Rudy could work in Naz’s fit. Plus if one of our centers goes down we will need a solid backup, and I don’t see a Knight or Aldridge or whoever we get having the same impact. McKinley Wright on a two way would solve the 4th PG issue. We can always move Nowell to PG and play Forbes at SG, or Moore if he develops well. Minott will backup the 3 as well as Anderson. I would spend the roster spot backing up the PF.

I'm curious to know who they view as their long term starting PG.
