No minutes for Shannon or Miller?
Not going to happen.

Might get some from time to time, if they earn it. Look at the minutes per game for the guys listed above. Who needs their minutes cut? Who do you take away from to give crumbs to? Point guard is pretty balanced. Edwards and McDaniels aren't losing minutes, why put them out of position? The three big men are fairly equal with the youngest getting the most.

I'll take minutes from FA and a few from Jaden and give them to Shannon and Miller. I'll also take some minutes from Naz and give to Miller.

Do you think Jaden or Naz would be happy bout it? None of it matters until we get through camp anyways. Just conversation

I don't think they'd have any problem with 30 MPG. That's what I see Jaden getting. Naz maybe 26-28.

I wonder if this is indeed our effective rotation at PG for the next season

Personally, I'd guess that one of Conley or Dillingham is on the court at all times (sans foul trouble, injury or garbage time)

But they may pair Dillingham with another guard (such as NAW or Ant) who can bring up the ball on some possessions as the pseudo-PG.

Conley (25), RD (20) NAW (3)
Ant (33), TSJ (10), NAW (5)
McDaniels (30), NAW (13), TSJ (5)
KAT (20), Naz (28)
Rudy (30), KAT (10), Miller (8)

Some variability, but this is a rough guess.

This is not exact positionally, but more about role substitution where Dillingham replaces Ant's scoring when he sits and NAW replaces Jaden as primary on ball defender. So it will look a little goofy:

PG: Conley (26), Dillingham (12), NAW (10)
SG: Edwards (36), Dillingham (12)
SF: McDaniels (30), NAW (8), Ingles (6), TSJ (4)
PF: KAT (16), Naz (28), Ingles (4)
C: Gobert (30), KAT (18)

DNP-CD
Miller
Minott
Garza
Dozier

Bench unit 1: (Rudy sits)
Dillingham, Ant, NAW, Naz, KAT

Bench unit 2: (KAT sits)
Dillingham, NAW, Ingles, Naz, Rudy

Bench unit 2B: (small)
Dillingham, NAW/Ant, TSJ, Ingles, Rudy

It’s funny watching people assume significant minutes for Shifty and Shannon - or even Miller and Minott. Two rookies and two guys that looked like WNBA players last season getting big minutes for a playoff team? Seems unlikely. The rooks look like they can infuse much needed offense, but that’s a big ask.

Wish we had another 3/4 that can guard when Jaden is overmatched or in quick foul trouble. Are we going to have to have Ingles guard guys like Luka, Lebron, Tatum, Giannis, PG, Paolo??

Towns and Reid can be put in front of some. ANT was decent against Luka (Better than McDaniels in that regard).

But how are all those teams going to matchup against us?

The Lakers have 1 big man.
The Mavericks are relying on old Klay and Marshall.
Celtics need a healthy Porzingis against us.
Milwaukee is trash.
Healthy Philadelphia is a good joke
The Orlando Magic?

Agree. Partially it will be bigs asked to play as wings such as Towns and Reid, partially it will be guards that will be asked to play as wings such as Edwards, NAW. Hopefully, McDaniels and Shannon will develop into two-way wings. But again, I agree that ideally we need one more dynamic two-way wing. The problem is that MIN cant guarantee playing time for anyone who is available for minimus contract. So our last signing might be someone like Lamar Stevens, who reminds me once called offseason MIN saviour Rondae Jaquan Hollis-Jefferson

I really think this is where Shannon has a chance to make his earliest impact.

Everyone knows him as a scorer, but he's got some defensive chops and a lot of DAWG in his game. I know when people think of recent Timberwolves first rounders who were billed as defenders, they think of guys like Culver, Okogie, Dunn and Brewer, and how they each flamed out here. But their defense was never the reason that they flamed out. It was their offense. But Shannon's coming in with a much higher offensive floor than all of them.

Can Jaylen Clark defend some PFs like PJ Washington, Jaylen Williams, Doncic? If he can it will be a massive advantage for MIN.

I personally see no reason why he couldn't. Same with Shannon.

My goodness people. MN made a statement by being big last year. Why are people wanting them to downsize?

Every team has sub-lineups.

I see Shannon at the SF far more than at the SG.

Shannon is the 3 and Miller is the 4 you are looking for.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
