Its better if it is Marc Gasol instead of Crittenton, but the Lakers are getting pretty beastly.

I'm heairng the rights to Marc Gasol were also in the trade. He's got a lot of upside and gives something for Grizzlies fans to hope for. A brother for brother deal. Mighty crazy.

Imagine trading KG and not getting a player like Al jefferson back and getting a late #1 instead of a top 5 #1, and that's essentially what Memphis did for Gasol. Terrible. I can't get over this.

I'm just thinking out loud here but would you guys do a McCants-Conley swap?

ESPN says Marc Gasol and Aaron McKie's contract are also heading to Memphis, and that Memphis has also finalized the Stro for Collins straight up.

The Wolves didn't get a top 5 #1?

well didn't we get our own pick back this year? That's essentially a top 5 #1.

Much better than getting the pick of a playoff team.

No. The Celtics pick was due after the Clippers pick.

Wow. I'm already tired of hearing the legion of Laker fans every damn night they get a W now it will be magnified by ten. Great great trade for LA.

The Memphis Grizzlies will send Pau Gasol and a future second-round pick to the Lakers for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, the unofficially retired Aaron McKie , the draft rights to Pau Gasol's brother Marc and future first-round picks in 2008 and 2010, NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

It is believed that the Lakers would need to arrange a sign-and-trade for McKie to make the salary cap math work for the deal. McKie is not currently playing in the NBA but his rights are owned by the Lakers.

According to The Commercial Appeal of Memphis, which also reported the trade, the Grizzlies decided to move ahead with trading Gasol because the team felt it could no longer move ahead with him off or on the court -- and that the acquisition of Brown, who is earning $9,075,000 in the last year of his contract, would provide the franchise salary cap relief.

The Commercial Appeal also reported that the Grizzlies are trading Stromile Swift to the New Jersey Nets for center Jason Collins. The Grizzlies and Nets have been discussing that deal for the past week and expect to finalize it on Monday, according to the report.

great trade for them but they are way off to think it makes them favorites for the title.

Last time I checked there is still at least 3 maybe 4 teams with more talent and depth than them. And thats in the west alone

The Grizzlies threw in a 2nd round pick?...ok...I don't see why...that 2nd should be going the other way...

Not sure why that was included at all. That's kind of funny.

LAKERS: "Alright we'll give you cap space, a retired player, the rights to Mark Gasol so all the fans can save their Gasol jerseys, Crittendon, and a late first rounder this year."
MEMPHIS: "We need more than that! You need to give us another late round 1st!"
LAKERS: "Fine, but it'll cost you a conditional 2nd rounder."
