Foye is 6'3.25" in shoes. McCants is 6'4". So, not too much of a difference in height. But when talking about size, you need to include a lot more than just height.

For, example McCant's wingspan is 4.5 inches longer than Foye's, and his standing reach is 6.5 inches higher.

Note: All measurements from Draftexpress.com's measurement database.

I think if the scenario goes down and the Wolves have 3 or lower they should take Mayo with the first pick and then draft a big with the other pick.

Agree whole-heartedly. IMO, if both Lopez and Mayo are on the board, you take mayo ten times out of ten.

Boo. No trading McCants unless we're upgrading with like a Richard Jefferson type.

Jefferson's talent would be good for the team. His contract would not. It would have made more sense to go after him when KG was still on the team. If we were to go after a big contract player I would rather have AK47 on the Wolves than Richard Jefferson.

I dont see any team taking on shad. He could be of use on many teams, but several of those teams are sitting with lotto picks or Have very late 1sts.

CLE and PHX are the only real options imo.

PHX well they dont really have suitable contracts to make it work easily, but maybe a 3 way would work.

I.E.
McCants + Walker for Wally + CLE pick
saves CLE ~5.5m next year with lux tax. McCants fills a similar shooter roll, and can do more to get his own shot, probably works better with lbj too. Walker also provides "some" value. Maybe some cash back from CLE.

CLE pick + x for PHX/ATL pick

Not sure what x for PHX would be at this point probably just cash? 2m? Sarver would love to get 2m for a pick swap, then another 3m for the CLE pick I'm sure. Maybe an agreement not to match an offer for Smith or Gomes as they both would work well in PHX and would provide more immediate value to PHX than a draft pick. Im sure that violates some rules though. haha.

I guess best case scenario.
McCants + Walker for Wally + pick + 1m
ATL pick for CLE pick +1m
CLE pick from PHX for +3m

MN ends up spending ~3m + McCants for the #16 + #19. Or Maybe PHX will take some credit back and take our early 2nds for 1m each? ~1m + McCants for 16 & 19? From that point I don't see anything in terms of trade up possibilities though.

I'm just getting excited by how deep the draft is this year. Everyone seems to be putting their name in the draft. For perspective, I think if Brewer would have stayed in school he'd easily be out of the lottery this year. It makes me wonder if the draft won't be so deep next year.

McCant's has talent. His talent is just limited by his maturity and perhaps smallish size for a two guard that doesn't have that much speed. I think if we can get a prospect the likes of Speights/Jordan/Randolph/Galliari for him, we have to do it. All those player might have been in the top 7 next year, if they enter the draft this year.

More so, there's a difference between not wanting a 2nd rounder and not wanting a first rounder.

shrink wrote:After they had their numbers retired at UNC, I always thought it would be fun to reunite McCants with Felton and May in North Carolina, on Charlotte. According to their fans, the Bobcats may be willing to trade their pick as well, as long as it isn't Top 3. It will most likely be in the 8-10 range.

I don't think McCants is worth that straight up, but don't forget, Rashad can score. He's shooting like 45% FG, 40% 3's, and averaging 15 a game. He makes a lot of mistakes, but he's still learning. The mistakes may be unforgivable on some teams (maybe even with Wittman), but I thought maybe Charlotte would still be high on him and could market him.

The Bobcats already have JRich, and I could see McCants being a sixth man over there. Unfortunately, they locked Matt Carroll into that role in a LONG deal that declines, but averages about $4.3 mil a year through 2013. Carroll stunk this year, and I could see if we'd take on his contract, using the #9 might be somewhat appealing for the Bobcats on a financial side as well as upgrading talent. It might even put a spark into Felton.

Anyway, they added Nazr, but found they have trouble playing him and Okafor at the same time, so maybe something like:

McCants + Craig Smith (S&T) for #9 + Ryan Hollins + Matt Carroll

I think we'd have to take on Carroll to make a deal even plausible. They have JRich and Wallace signed to big contracts. Wallace plays both SG/SF, but they also have Morrison at SF so they're in a bit of a crunch their too with no real size outside of Okafor. Charlotte does sound like a possible team, but not sure if it works with their roster.

toronto (#18) might also be a good trading partner.

I could see McCant's flourishing in Toronto. At 18 though most of the exciting prospects would be gone. We could look at CDR/Hibbert/McGee.

the only way McCants should be dealt is if it is for a known veteran quantity. right now, he can be trusted to play slightly under 30 min a night and put up 15 points with a decent shooting percentage. I'm not saying he's the best player on the team or anything, but he is - at times - a solid contributor. we would be lucky if a draft pick in the teens ends up at the same level as rashad - even after several years of playing experience.

McCants + Craig Smith (S&T) for #9 + Ryan Hollins + Matt Carroll

I agree that its odd sending a SG to CHA, but in this trade, they add a better, local SG, and remove that extremely long contract they got in Carroll, so it might actually help their SG clutter. The other player they give up is Ryan Hollins, who's a third string center on their team. Depending on how much they want to avoid playing Nazr and Okafor together, Craig Smith could get a lot of minutes with big centers behind him. He's better and certainly more experienced than Dudley.

The Bobcats are anxious to win now, trading away last year's pick, and some Bobcat posters on the trade board said they'll probably trade this one away too. I don't know if they put extra value in reuniting McCants-Felton-May in North Carolina, but if they do, this seems to me like a good deal for both -- if we're willing to take on Carroll's long deal.

its not that deep most the college teams have been avg and most the players have huge flaws in there game

outside of the top 2 theres nothing but ok players who most of them wont even be as good as mccants

I think you have an inflated opinion of McCants.

McCants makes mistakes, but he can certainly score.

He's like 15 PPG and 3 PT% above 40%.

I say no to trading mccants for a late lotto pick. I'm just not ready to give up on him. He's shown some of the amazing things he can do he just needs to cut down on the TO's, STUPID fouls, BHS(ballhog syndrome), and settling for the 3. At times the kid is a bigtime game changer. I don't want to trade him for a late lotto pick when this kid could be a 23ish ppg scorer. You guys all try to say that mccants and wittman are at war. What I think is that Wittman has told mccants that he has to get better at certain things(TO's, fouls, ball hog) before he can start. And when he comes off the bench and does bad at these things wittman cuts his PT. If he's playing good that night he increases his PT. It's all really up to mccants. I really don't think that he is a cancer its just that wittman is making him learn how to play the game the hard way. I really hope that he realizes that its for his own good..

Gomes doesn't make the bonehead mistakes Shad does. Gomes has improved throughout the season, I haven't noticed much improvement in Shad at all. Same damn weaknesses.

He's not a cancer, yet he has problems with TO's, STUPID fouls and ball hogging? Not to mention his pouting and attitude problems?

Explain how Wittman is making him learn how to play the hard way. You play poorly, you play erratically, and you get benched. Nothing hard about that. I think the same goes for every coach in the NBA.

OK, i misunderstood everyone i thought they meant more of a locker room cancer than an on the floor cancer. Yes, he is a cancer when he is playing poorly but you have to admit that when he's on the whole team is much better off. Also, yes he has a pouting problem and we all hate it but I just don't see where the proof is that Mccants has attitude problems.

Wittman IS making him learn the hard way. Here's the easy way. Wittman tells Mccants not to do all the dumb things he does. Well, since we've all noticed that Mccants hasn't really improved much in these areas I think Wittman is taking a different approach. Mccants first appearance in the game determines everything. If he plays like he's not supposed to he'll spend a lot of time on the bench but if he does the right things he's rewarded with more PT. It's not like Mccants is some scrub 12th man bench player he obviosly has some mad skills he just has to harness them.

P.S.:the whole wittman thing with the hard way is just a theory. Sorry if it offended you Dr. K.
