For all those that thought. I'm just glad we could explain weeks ago that Bennett wasn't being traded for Thad...

If he can get us to be a .500 team this year and scare a few fans into believing we are a winning team.
Flip gets a statue. And it will be all our signatures as we take pics with it.

Yea but I understand one or the other but not both. Either we are rebuilding and keep Bennett and play him big minutes and see what you got, or get Young, whose better now, and try to win now. So now do you either have Bennett coming off the bench not getting big minutes and wondering what you have, or you have a guy making almost 10 million coming off the bench.
Why not just keep one or the other and just bring back Dante for the min?

I don't think it's beneficial to play young players big minutes if they're overmatched like Bennett was last year. Ideally, you want to put young players in a position to succeed and build confidence.

That's not how it works. Most of the young guys can't be effective vs vet starters. It can easily cause a negative effect. You put them vs opponent's bench and let them watch the starting vets on both teams from the bench.

We shouldn't even be able to get Wiggins for Love, and we're getting Wiggins, Bennett, and Thad Young, and people are griping about losing a mid first for Thad Young, when if fact fans should be ecstatic that we didn't trade for Thompson and Lee.

Well, that's just bull. Nobody's arguing about the Love trade, it's only the Philly trade that's in question.
He failed to mention that Thad is a possible one year rental, that he is undersized and lacks shooting etc.
I mean, I agree that the Philly trade is also a good trade, but it definitely is arguable and I don't mind that people are questioning it, so all that "Don't question us, look at what we've done!" crap is just that, crap.

Look, YOU CAN ARGUE EVERYTHING if you need something to gripe about. You can argue Wiggins is going to be a bust if you want. You can argue Wiggins can't dribble and is too passive. You can argue Bennett is going to be a bust. You can argue Wiggins won't agree to resign here in four years. At some point it becomes asinine.
Some wolves fans are the equivalent of a kid who got a new playstation for x-mas and they cry that it came with the black controller, when Mom could have gone to Target instead of Best Buy and got one that comes with a red controller.

I don't like us keeping Bennett but we're now on a rebuild footing. Flip's thinking it should be a short one because he's hoping Wiggins is bang to right out the gate star player and with the other pieces we may be able to scrap for a playoff spot next year.

Some wolves fans just don't want to look at career numbers and stats and immerse themselves in highlights. Some want to look ahead of the dangling carrot. Not everybody has to agree with you, that's why this is discussion forum. Logically this Thad Young trade is going to end up poor for the wolves by next year. Only great scenarios are minny makes the playoffs (very unlikely) or Thad Young becomes a good shooter and resigns at friendly team deal (unlikely). Chances are he plays decent, opts out, and wolves have to overpay or let him go.
I'm a wolves fan. I want more value. Don't compare me to a kid on christmas, that's just some passive aggressive punk move.

Re: Love Thread v9.0: The Final Countdown!
I'll be honest, T. Young is just ok at PF. He's a classic tweener that should play SF but instead is at PF. He gets mauled by larger PFs (which is practically the entire NBA) and his defense numbers are just horrible. The only defensive trade off is he gets some steals but that doesn't come close to making up for the bad.

Why do we have to overpay him or let him go? What if he likes it here? SHOCKING?????????????????????????

Calm down. I already said the only positive scenarios are that minny makes the playoffs which is very unlikely and/or he becomes a good shooter and resigns at a team friendly deal which is unlikely when you look at his 7 year numbers and the FA market today.
I got a lot of huge hopes for this team too. I love LaVine&Wiggins and think they can both be top 10 players in the league. I love Brewer and am very high on Dieng. I even think Anthony Bennett is going to show why he was drafted first overall last year. I just don't like this philly deal that's all.

Re: Love Thread v9.0: The Final Countdown!
I'm neutral on the Young part of the deal. I understand why Flip did it and don't think the Miami pick is that valuable of an asset, but I also don't think Young is a starting PF on an upper echelon team and, with the overpayments this offseason in FA, believe there is a good chance he bolts after this season.
For stat heads, ESPN's WARP projections list him as the 7th best PF going into next season, ahead of both Faried and Ibaka. Clearly not an accurate list, but interesting.

Re: Love Thread v9.0: The Final Countdown!
I think it's a pretty good trade for us. Sure, we lose a pick that will likely be in the 20-25 range next year, but we have enough young guys that are part of our future already. Young might not be a top PF in this league, but by all accounts he's a true professional who can teach our young guys a thing or two about being an NBA player.
We need some balance in the roster, and we have that now with some good vets next to a lot of young players with star potential. Hopefully we can be as competitive as we can and build a winning culture from the start with Wiggins and LaVine as a big part of our future.

How does Philly have any effect on Cavs/Wolves trade?
The whole question is whether Thad > Shved/Luc/Mia 1st or not, right?

Because, like I just said, there's a good chance that this is actually a three-team trade. One trade, not two.

It doesn't matter. It's the Wolves choice whether it's a 3 team trade. Cleveland doesn't give a ****. You can criticize the Philadelphia portion separate from the rest of the trade if you disagree with it.

Yup. I thought that was obvious enough so I didn't bother pointing it out.
