Re: The Positivity Thread
I get dejected when I go read the Gen board.
But you know what? I'm not sure if I'll care any more what other fans think about our team. If they want to disrespect our team while we keep improving, that's fine with me.
I'll keep echoing what I wrote a month ago: No, this team isn't perfect. Far from it, actually. But if we're playing as horrible as everyone thinks right now and are still a playoff team, where will this team be when it starts to gel.
Midway through the season and on a 50-win pace. Before the year, most thought we would be better in the second half of the year but still wouldn't put us at a 50-win projection.

We are making good progress in defense...we have conceded less than 100 points in last 5 games...the last time this happened was at the start of 2012-13 season.

Tom Ziller:
The Minnesota Timberwolves, a big 10 games over .500 and two games out of the No. 3 seed in the West, smacked the Cleveland Cavaliers by 28 on Monday. The Target Center was loud, Andrew Wiggins had a helluva game — it’s all smiles for Minnesota right now. Over their last 15 games, per NBA.com, they have the No. 1 offense, a top-10 defense, and the No. 1 net rating.

Lots of it comes from the narrative that was shaped when both Thibs and Jimmy were here.
The Chicago media (with obvious influence from the FO) ran Thibs through the ringer and it got messy at the end. Jimmy publicly clashed with Fred and had issues with how our young players were preparing but it seems that him and Thibs are 100% aligned here and the young guys are buying into it.
But yeah, you guys could win 75 games and you'll have people from Chicago talking about how Thibs ruins careers and is just a regular season coach. The 2012-13 Bulls win over the Nets in the playoffs was by far my favorite moment in sports in the past ten years or so. He willed that team to a series victory when half of the team was hurt and Derrick was out.
I really believe in what you guys are building. Looking at what y'all are doing now with Teague out is astounding and we're seeing Tyus bloom right in front of our eyes just like we saw Jimmy bloom from nothing into a top 10 if not top 5 player in the world. The mentality that Thibs brings really is special and I look forward to watching it play out for you guys.

We're now around 20th in defensive rating after being among the leagues very worst for quite some time.

NBA stats has then up to 16th now (its really bunched up between 16 and 20)
Lakers are 15th but have been free falling, been nice to get into top half of league

yeah we're moving up almost every game. at the end of the season, we'll be top 10 defensive team, which would be insane given the fact that we were the worst defensive team in the league for months!

Re: The Positivity Thread
I feel that the current state of the Wolves can beat any team in the West except Golden State in a 7 game series. With Towns defensive progress I'm not worried about matchups anymore. We don't have the talent to beat Golden State but I think this team could legitimately be the 2nd best team in the West come playoff time if healthy. In the East, I believe Boston and Toronto are better teams as well.

I hesitated a lot when I had to decide about LP subscription before the season. Now I actually think that is a smart investment

Re: The Positivity Thread
However, one team that was stuck in that mix all season has finally broken out. The Timberwolves are starting to prove that they belong in the elite tier. It remains to be seen if that holds true, but what we do know is that they're clearly better than the middle-dwellers below them.
#3 - Timberwolves
Karl-Anthony Towns defense has risen to another level and it's a big part of why the Wolves are playing their best basketball of the season. The Knicks were the first team to break 100 against them since Dec. 27.

This is perfectly stated.

Re: The Positivity Thread
We legitimately have a chance to jump into 2nd place this week.
We are 3 games back of Houston
Houston losing right now to the clippers in the 4th
Their next 2 games are us and the Warriors
As long as harden does not play I like our chances
