Re: 2017 Draft Thread
I really think this draft stinks after the top 4 and Thomas Bryant (who is my main draft crush).
I can't get excited about Tatum, Isaac, or Markannen. I could see all of those guys being busts.

What about Josh Jackson?

It still seems better than last year. How would you compare Fox and Monk to Dunn and Hield? I think Fox and Monk are better prospects who are going to go later.
Not to mention last year we probably would have considered Rabb if he came out and now is maybe a borderline lottery pick.

Unquestionably in the top 4, but even with him I can't get too excited. Is he that much of a better prospect than Winslow and/or Johnson? He's a year older than his peers and isn't the most skilled player for someone being drafted in the top 5. He has nice length, but he's going to be out muscled until he can fill out. I think he's likely a solid starter-role player at the NBA level. Maybe it's the hair but I can't help but see Josh Childress when he was at Stanford.

Monk seems pretty destined to be an effective scorer off the bench. I wish he was more of a play maker. If he's a lights out scorer at the SG position, but that's all he is, then his best case scenario is something akin to Lou Williams. I'd much rather have Hield who at least has the size to guard his position which to me at least gives him plus-starter potential. I was more leery of Dunn last year because of his age and the fact that I didn't think he did anything great (I compared him to Delon Wright a few times), nor did he even seem like the best player on his team during the few times I watched Providence. I think Fox is about on-par as a prospect with Dunn, but since he's so much younger he probably has more upside.
Rabb just has sophmoritis. He was being overrated last year because he was a freshman. Now other freshman are just being overrated ahead of him. That said, I wasn't a fan last year and I'm still not.

This draft clearly has top end talent that last year didn't have, but after that I think it's a lot of role players.
And unfortunately, I don't feel like most of the prospects are good fits here. I like Isaac, Adebayo and Anunoby the most.

Re: 2017 Draft Thread
Lonzo's shot is really weird. A little low release point? And its like he stops momentarily in the air before releasing a shot like a gun cock or wind up robot. Really weird
Trust the PRosas!

Re: 2017 Draft Thread
Terence Ferguson would be very intriguing if we didn't already have so many players whose best position is SG.

Anyone like Robert Williams? Kind of an athletic PF/C who block shots.

I like him a lot because he has tremendous physical skills. That should translate. Of course, I though Adriene Paynes physical skills would translate too!
If Williams can improve his basketball skills, which might take some time, he could be a really good player.

Re: 2017 Draft Thread
It'll be really interesting to see how Thibodeau approaches this draft if we keep the pick. Physical tools or on-court production? Offense or defense? Need or BPA? Immediate contribution or potential?

Re: 2017 Draft Thread
As I'm looking through the DX mock, a name that intrigues me is John Collins at WFU. Sounds like he's got a nice blend of what we need at PF, though he's another who doesn't have great D fundamentals. But can that be coached up?

John Collins sounds like the name of a nice blended cocktail...

Jackson is basically Wiggins with better defense and playmaking

Jackson isn't quite as athletic as Wiggins and he has FT shooting issues, but otherwise I like him a lot.

Wiggins with better defense and playmaking is basically a top 5 NBA player who should be the unquestionable #1 pick. That Jackson isn't. Not close IMO. He's had a good stretch, but remember he's a year older than his peers. Compare him to other Sophomores.

Warming up to him. I go back and forth on him and Bridges. I don't see his ISO game being effective in the NBA and then what else does he bring?

Can hit open three's, has physical tools and desire to become very good defender at 3, good rebounder, good passer and doesn't need to be ball dominant to be effective.
I think he fits well and is one of the best talents in this draft.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
