But his handles, passing, and physical ability to guard 2s are what will make him a 2, imo.

That kind of thinking means we don't have a SF on the team right now. Layman is a PF Edwards OKogie and Culver are all SGs. I see zero reason not to make SF Edwards primary position.

See, now you get it. We have no Sf, you can make Edwards play the three, but he should be a 2.

Nope everything about his game screams SF to me. I was being sarcastic.

So was Shabazz Muhammad a 2 in your opinion?

Kind of, he didn't have a handle for it. Got away with it in high school and UCLA. Fact is, if Bazz was 6'8 or 9 he would have probably been an all star....except the total lack of defense.

Look, I am not saying Edwards can't play the 3, I am saying it isn't his best position.

This is where you have your right to be wrong. The 3 is his best position.

You can't choose what defender the opposing team will assign to him so as always his position is related to what he can defend.

He has the physical tools to defend the 3. Has he the motor to box out bigs and rotate to the paint to take charges? If that's the case he will be good.

The discussion of whether he is a two or a three is really archaic, given the context of how the current NBA works. Positional flexibility is a key aspect of the modern NBA.

Agree. Although, I hope that Culver has added 10-15lbs, and can hit FT >65% and 3pt>35%. It would make him an All-Defensive team candidate.

Yeah, this is true. We are actually running a system where we don't have a traditional 1-5 position style. If we start Beasley and Edwards with Russell, Juancho and Kat we are basically playing a 3 guard offense. I would personally take the traditional style any day, of course I think zone defenses should be fully legal and games should be officiated like they were in 70's and 80's. So, much like the NFL, with the game going soft, styles will adjust. I can love competition without liking the style right?

This.
Posters on this forum are still in the mindset of 12345.... It just simply is NOT the case.

Current NBA just does not work this basically.. maybe in nba2k? I can't say I don't play video games anymore..

Also. Just on a side note. This thread has been awfully quiet.. not a lot of hype.. I guess we haven't seen any mix tapes coming from Minnesota to pump us up before the season.

I follow Ant on Instagram and he has been pretty quiet as well...

I actually prefer this. We often get too hyped and get let down by these draft picks. Want this to be more like KAT or Lavine, where we were hopeful but also kind of caught by surprise. I thought Towns would be solid but he was great right away. I didn't have expectations for Zach but as soon as I saw him play, I knew he had a killer mentality. It's great to be pleasently surprised.

The guy looks thick. He will be PJ Tucker size in no time. Hope he's able to retain his quickness.

He's gonna be a star.

I think initially people will downplay how good he is based on their preconceptions of how "good" the overall draft is/was. But I don't see any reason skillwise or from his physical gifts why he won't be one of the truly elite SGs in the league. I think he's gonna be one of those players people come around on and claim they were in on him before lol

I certainly believe he can be a star. And if it happens anywhere, this might be the best place to do it.

Just looking at the top of the draft, I don't believe Golden State would've been a good fit for him. In Charlotte, I think he'd have to carry too big an offensive load out of the gate. Here, he can develop and mature at his own pace.

People are finally starting to understand how young he is. With youth comes a lack of maturity or focus sometimes. But he's not a bad kid. He was on a roster and in a system that wasn't great for him. I see him more like a Ben Simmons level of a No. 1 pick than Anthony Bennett. Simmons had similar questions around him. He needed time to develop. He wasn't an all-star overnight. Would you take anyone from the top of his draft over him today? I'm guessing not. If you do, it's not a sure thing.
