We are one shot creator/ slasher away from being a really good team. If we could put JMcl and Nowell together into a single person...

Gut feeling...Clippers may want to move on in offseason, unless entire plan was to save him for next year.

They are 30 healthy games from being a really good team. The pieces are there.

Super long 3's look cool in a highlight reel, but those plus TERRIBLE defense are not a good pick up for the Wolves.

Denver traded him for two 2nd round picks and by all accounts he was a bad locker room guy (which is pretty weird for a 25th pick).

I was looking at the stats for the best individual Timberwolves seasons, and I happened to notice Effective FG%

It should come as no surprise that Rudy Gobert has the best season in Wolves history but, check this out!

1. .658. Rudy Gobert • 2022-23
2. .602. Naz Reid • 2022-23
3. .600. Karl-Anthony Towns • 2019-20
4. .596. Karl-Anthony Towns • 2017-18
5. .591. Karl-Anthony Towns • 2021-22
6. .588. Jaden McDaniels • 2022-23

I realize that Naz gets a lot of minutes against second stringers, but I would never have suspected this season was better than any of Towns! Also shocked to see Jaden this high as well! Finally, we have three of the top six eFG% in Wolves history this year. That means we’re making shots, but also getting to the rim. Those three guys are talented, but Chris Finch deserves credit here as well.

Hope they can find a way to keep Naz. They look so much worse without him adding that scoring punch off the bench.

That is the most frustrating and bipolar fact about this team and season. This team has potential and I am not talking about Pinocchio motivational speech here. But we keep messing up against bad teams. Everytime it looks like we got it together, we fall apart again (sounds like some country songs lyrics). :banghead:

Fortunately for us, no bad teams in the playoffs for us to collapse against!

Nice find, but how many of those shots did Gobert create for himself? any?
That's a little low for where he should be if he had a little better shot selection.
DeAndre Jordan (pretty good comp) for example had multiple seasons he shot 70%+ from the field.

Naz and KAT create most of their own offense, and if anything that tells me that Naz was really underutilized this year and trading KAT and replacing him with Naz wouldn't be as big of a downgrade, if any.
Re-signing Naz needs to be #1 priority this offseason.
I'm really glad we gave him run next to Rudy and KAT before he got hurt, maybe it will be enough to sell him on an increased role.

And great to see Jaden on this list. Would love to see a bridges-like jump from him.
He has a better shooting stroke and is taller/longer, does not have that kind of all-around game yet.

Why do you care how much Rudy of all people is generating his own shots?

Because a guy who creates his own offense and offense for others is 10X more valuable than a guy who can only finish lobs and has to be spoonfed. Or the league would be full of DeAndre Jordans instead of everyone looking for Donovan Mitchells.
Volume matters and range matters. KAT and NAZ being able to touch 60% and shoot 3's is much more impressive.

That .658 number looks nice on paper but any 7 foot stiff can get close to that if he's only finishing off passes inside of 5 feet.
How much is that really worth compared to how much you are hamstringing your teammates by being no threat to shoot dribble or pass?

Yes, I often wonder why I am still following this team. I love Greek tragedy but that is no excuse.
