This, along with signing Tyus, would be my dream scenario.

I'm not against the idea of trading for Durant. But I don't know if it's the right fit at the right time. One thing it would likely do though is help take defensive attention away from Ant. That would make a huge difference.

Who are we going to play at center? Naz? No thanks. Any Rudy trade needs a legit rim protector coming back.

In my prior offseason post, I mentioned Kornet and Richards...not sexy by any means.

What are some teams we think would consider taking a chance on Rudy?

If we trade Rudy, we need a starting center back. We need to trade Randle and target an upgrade at PG and draft a center to develop behind Gobert. We would get killed with a front court of Reid and Randle.

A few scenarios I can see:

1) conservative "run-it-back". both Reid and Randle pick-up their PO, NAW is traded for 2nd round pick to ORL. TC drafts BPA bigman and PG. Minot/Garza are gone

Gobert/Reid/rookie
Rande/McDaniels/Miller
McDaniels/TJ/Clark
Edwards/DDV/Clark
DDV/Rob/rookie + Conley

2) "all-in". both Reid and Randle pick-up their PO, NAW is traded for 2nd round pick to ORL. TC trades Randle, Reid for KD + late 1st round pick in three-team trade.

Gobert/rookie
KD/McDaniels/Miller
McDaniels/Clark
Edwards/DDV/Clark
DDV/Rob/rookie + Conley

3) "soft rebuild". both Reid and Randle pick-up their PO, NAW is re-signed. TC trades Gobert for expiring and late 1st round pick. On draft night we draft one of Sorber/Fleming/CMB + Raynaud/Kalkbrenner/Yang/Beringer.

Reid/rookie/rookie
Randle/McDaniels/Miller
McDaniels/TJ/Clark
Edwards/DDV/Clark
Rob/NAW/DDV + Conley

One of absolutely fantastic scenarios would be a combination of this scenarios which would give us absolutely different from roster construction team:

Sorber/Reid
KD/McDaniels/Miller
McDaniels/Clark
Edwards/DDV/Clark
Rob/NAW + Conley

to put smallball to extreme I can imagine CMB playing С next to KD/McDaniels: CMB-KD-McDaniels-Ant-Rob

P.S. From recent And and Conley interviews I feel like Conley is not going to retire.

Also KD don't keep to ball for 15 seconds as do Randle and ANT. We can't have 2 guys like this in a starting 5, it make the game messy, they make 6 to 8 Turn over per game... others players cold and not involved. Put KD instead of Randle, a good C who is able to shoot and a PG to play as a starter with Mike on the bench and we are really good. Tuys will be a great choice as he is a good playmaker and as Mike almost never turn the ball over. And give min to ROB during regular season to see if he can translate into a good player.

I guess a good question to ask is. Who on our current roster has scope for significant improvement?

IMO: TSJ, Clark and Rob. In particular, TSJ and Clark have already shown that they can crack the rotations and could be solid two way players. This means that one of NAW and DDV is expendable.

I'd give up on Minott, Miller, Garza. I'd try to trade Gobert and to replace his minutes with a stretch 5 such as Brook Lopez.
Randle and Naz can be kept but at the right price otherwise they can go.

I have said this before...
Gone: Conley, NAW, Randle, Gobert...

I'd keep Mike on a veteran minimum deal.

NAW is just a casualty of numbers

Randle I have seen enough.

Gobert is time to ride off into sunset.

Honestly, I'd be fine with Naz going away as well.

Ideally trades or sign and trades for NAW, Randle, Reid and Gobert.

Aside from draft picks, players I would target in trades/free agency are Davion Mitchell, Jabari Smith Jr., Nic Claxton, Isaiah Stewart

PG - Mitchell, Conley(on cheaper deal)/Dillingham
SG - Edwards, DD, Clark
SF - McDaniels, Shannon Jr
PF - Smith Jr, Newell
C. - Claxton, Stewart, Kalkbrenner

I understand that scoring could be an issue in the first five, but I don't see a clear answer to finding scoring in general. I also think that an offense could be designed around Edwards with that starting five to effectively score. It would be an insane defensive starting five with firepower coming off the bench

I would keep Conley to be a vet presence and let go of Julius Randle. He is a ticking time bomb.

I would lean into the Ant timeline, get younger, even if it means taking a step back next year. Rudy is paid more than 100m over the next 3 years. He turns 33 in a month. He is a great regular season player that will never be a huge component of a championship team. He just takes too much off the table offensively. We were afraid to even throw it to he open near the basket half these playoffs. I hated Randle prior to the trade, last half of the year he was really good, but seeing his body language these last two games plus his fit with McDaniels is questionable (neither is a reliable shooter), if he opts in, I’d looks at a trade.

If we could get a young rim protector and a power forward that can shoot, that would be my targets. Lauri the best fit at PF and with his down season and large contract that may be doable if we can get a third team to send assets to Utah for Gobert.

I’d also see what’s out there for DDV and Dilly. I prioritize NAW over DDV because I think he does more; and if trading DDV for value frees up money for NAW, I do it. I’d love to get a late lotto pick to get a bigger PG like Jakucionis. Dilly, I just don’t see a starter. Small. Shifty but not elite quickness/athleticism. Can’t defend. Not a true PG/instincts. If he stays, he’s a backup for several years, maybe eventually elevating with bulk/experience, but I’m not even sure about that.

You circle the wagons around Ant, McDaniels, resign Naz to a reasonable deal (4/75ish?), NAW, TSJ, and hopefully get assets/picks for Randle, Gobert, DDV that are or can be used to get a young shot blocker (Lively/Kessel type), young/bigger PG (Jakucionis type), and a PF that can shoot (Lauri just turned 28).

OKC taught us we need more two-way players, with length, that can shoot. Cedric Coward is my target at 17, although I wouldn’t be shocked if OKC took him at 15.

The one thing about NAW is that he's more replaceable with the guys we have on our bench. Both Shannon and Clark are closer to NAW than Divencenzo. I guess you could double down on the NAW type, but there would be more concern with offensive consistency.

Kind of tough to predict moves until we see what Randle and Reid do with their options. Theoretically, if Randle, Reid, and Alexander-Walker all leave, we are definitely a less deep team, but it does get us under the cap and we still have Ant, McDaniels, Gobert, Conley, Divincenzo, Shannon, Clark, Dillingham, and Miller under contract plus two picks in the top 31. Add a couple of value free agents and that is probably at least a play-in team with a chance to develop. This probably isn't our best use of assets though, and not advisable to just let the three of them walk without any talent coming back.

Reading an article this morning about what Cleveland was going to do and they brought up the possibility that Garland is traded and they pointed to Minnesota as a great place for him to land. They said a third team would probably have to get involved, but any ideas on what that trade would look like and would Garland fit with the rest of the team?

1. Now is probably the time to move Rudy and Randle. Randle has revived a lot of value. This is probably the last year you can get some decent value for Rudy’s defense.

2. Utah owns a pick swap with us next draft, but they are going to be a bottom dweller again next season.

3. I would probably start Donte at PG next year and see what he can do, that or he boosts his number for a team next trade deadline.

4. Only star I could see that the Wolves could or should get in on is Zion. Trae young doesn’t interest me. We aren’t getting Giannis.

Rudy is fairly effective if we are ahead or it's a close game. I really think the trio of Rudy, KD, Ant could work well. KD is old and can't take the beating on D anymore. The value of Naz and Randle fall off the cliff on this last round. I feel like Randle will opt in. I can't see any team will paid him 35M+ with his inconsistency.
