He has played non-stop since last fall. I say give Bolmaro a couple months off before training camp.

Thanks. They got buyout information and 3 year contract determined. It seems like a done deal.

Really wish he made it over for summer league. I know it was tough with the Olympics, but Garuba played for Spain and made it over for the Rockets summer league.

Between the Euro league finals and the Olympics he has played against plenty of tough opponents. If anything the rest might do him some good. Also, unless you count the two way guys the only Wolves he missed out on playing with are Nowell and MCD, and he will get plenty of practice time with both.

Honestly, I am just glad all of this was done early enough that Bolmaro won’t miss any camp time and there won’t be uncertainty or drama about the roster spot.

I don't know if the Euros just don't understand the CBA or what, but I'm not confident in that report.

As a 1st round pick, Bolmaro has to sign a rookie-scale contract. All rookie scale contracts are 2+2s, which means you would either hear it reported as a 2-year or 4-year deal.

I'm not worried about him not signing, but just want the most accurate information here.

I agree. By the ACB playoffs, he was back down to only a few minutes per game and he definitely wasn’t a main cog on the Olympic team. But he hasn’t had a basketball break in awhile. I don’t expect a lot out of him next year, but I just want to see what he can do. Also, get him in an NBA strength and conditioning program. If defensive is going to be his calling card, he’ll need to bulk up a bit.

I was wondering about that myself. I thought they were all 4 year deals, but I didn't know it was required.

Bjelly was a 3 so I don’t think it is universal.

First round picks. Bjeli was a second rounder.

Does cuarto mean 4? I'd like a translation.

Cuatro is four. But the translation is more like:

TO THE NBA.

Leandro Bolmaro will play in Minnesota Timberwolves. He is going to be the fourth Argentinian confirmed for the 2021-2022 NBA season.

He will sign a two year contract.

Your translation is correct, but there is no way we only sign him for 2 years. He is a first round draft pick. The value would be extremely low if it was only two years. Whether it is 3 or 4, I am not sure, but I simply don’t believe 2.

It is a standard 2+2 rookie scale contract. Only the first two years are guaranteed, so sometimes they are reported as two-year deals.

Klomp posted it as 2x2. Last two years must be team option.

I agree, the first source that I posted just got the contract info years wrong. Either way I am now convinced Bolmaro is coming.

Interesting decision....obviously, I'm excited to get a closer look @ him, but he's most likely not a rotation guy yet this year...so burning a year of his rookie contract to play G-league?

But I wonder how much of that is Wolves just more confident with their development program now over here & some significant roster decisions need to be made after this season...so better to have worked with him directly for a year to be more confident about his fit w/in the roster?
