Why wouldn't Houston cut us out and just take Simmons?

And why would Philly want Wall?

Why would HOU want Simmons? I mean other than getting out of Wall. And why would MN give up all that value for a player that was effectively worth Wall (picks?). His ideas are so eclectic it is hard to follow how he rationalizes them.

Sheridan and ScoopB are well-known frauds, for what it is worth. There is zero to glean from their tweets.

This would NEVER happen, but it works in the trade checker and looks fair for everyone:

Hou trades: Wall, Wood
Hou receives: Naz, Prince, Harris, PHI 1st

Phi trades: Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, PHI 1st
Phi receives: John Wall, Malik Beasley, C Wood

Min trades: Malik Beasley, Naz Reid, Taurean Prince
Min receives: Ben Simmons

Houston gets an expiring, a young big man + a 1st round pick for taking on Tobias and his extra year.

Philly trades 2 players that they thought would work with Embiid and receives Wall, a sniper in Beasley & a productive big in Wood.

Min gets their guy they've been targeting all summer.

Wall, his horrendous contract and injury issues are not worth anything on the open market

Beasley is one more indiscretion away from being out of the league and therefore in much the same boat

Wood is the only thing of value

It doesn't look fair at all. Minnesota gets Simmons for just Beasley, Reid and Prince. I'm packing their bags.

It's a horrible trade for you. You would need a couple Minnesota lightly protected FRPs. However, Wall actually played well for Houston last year and I personally wouldn't be concerned about Beasley screwing up.

I love it for Minnesota. They get Simmons without giving up McDaniels or any picks?? Too good to be true.

Unfortunately it’s a dreadful deal for Philly and a bad one for Houston.

Seems like the Sixers are going to wait & see how the first part of the season pans out

They will be worse without Ben but unlikely to fall off a cliff unless Embiid gets hurt in which case the circumstances change again

If Wall was bought out & signed for a reasonable amount then sure

But his contract is absurd and should cost Houston plenty to move

The saga doesn't bother me. We likely aren't going to get him, if we do, cool, hopefully, we go to the next level. If we don't cool, I think we have a lot of good pieces to make a playoff push. It's not a make-or-break deal for me either way.

It is not the worst trade foundation I have seen, but it needs to drop the PHI pick. Then MN sends out a pick or two. And maybe find a team to take Harris if a team would send something HOU wanted.

Do you consider Simmons four years of being an nba player who refuses to learn how to shoot a basketball, “one indiscretion?”

Ben Simmons on his four year max deal is on the verge of being a bad contract. In fact, some respected national reporters like Nate Duncan already see him as one, and we have seen him on ten worst lists elsewhere (Liberty Ballers even wrote a story on one). I’m not there yet, but the ridiculous ignoring of the national stance on Simmons issues, generally caused by wishful PHI fans propping up each others’ narratives, makes you guys look completely biased. Calling Beasley, a 20 PPG, 40% three point shooter for MIN the last two seasons, “worthless,” on the MIN board, demonstrates this perfectly.

Do “stars” get back full value in trade?
Do “stars that demand a trade” do better?

You kids should tell us more about all the great presents Santa is going to put in your stocking for Ben “I hate Philadelphia!” Simmons. Or maybe, just keep telling those stories to eager listeners who want to believe it, on the PHI board. Or at least, don’t come to other teams’ boards to call their players “worthless,” for something that hasn’t even happened yet.

How do GMs interact with each other regarding trades? Does one GM offer something and have to wait a couple of days or will they bug the hell out of the other GM until they cave?

Wojo Bomb!!

Simmons will not be going to 76ers training camp and will not play another game for the franchise.

So again, as I said a few days ago, Morey will be trading Simmons right before camp or during camp.

This will conclude pretty soon, one way or the other.

I think it varies. In general you want a good relationship with the other GMs in the league.
