There is a reason why he is unsigned, but ignoring that, Minnesota cannot sign anyone with ending up in the Luxury-Tax.

Too early to give Beverly a lifetime contract? He seems like the guy this franchise has been missing for a long long time.

I think its a big disservice to your team when you don't have vets like this around your young guys. The wolves have failed hard to put quality vets around Towns, Lavine and Wiggins IMO. Thibs did it for one year but it didn't last. Other than that I think tossing a bunch of young out there for years without some vets who can guide them is not a good way to build them up. So many times you hear about NBA legends like KG and they give a ton of credit to their vets for preparing them. I'm happy to have a guy live Beverly here and hopefully, Ant learns a lot from quality vets like Bev and Rubio.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Training Camp thread

Our problems with vets like taj Gibson, Kevin Martin, tayshaun prince etc are just that..vets. They’re not gonna get you in trouble off the court and hopefully they show the young stars what nba life is like…but I didn’t think they exactly motivated the young stars to get better. Beverely to me, has been the exact opposite of that. He’s awesome. He’s gonna hound you in practice, be your biggest cheerleader during games and pest the other teams beat guard. This was a really good get.

Exactly. I'd honestly equate it to how Garnett was Towns' "vet" as a rookie. Or how Garnett had Sam Mitchell as his vet.

I think a lot of previous vets were pretty prideful because they felt they still had a bunch of game left in them. So they weren't ready to just be here in the mentor role.

I'd say Rubio did a pretty good job with Ant

Finch rules. Coaching 101: always have one of your best 3 players on the court.

I think it was GS when they had Durant that they’d sub klay out with 6 min left in the 1st so he’d be ready at the start of the second so Steph and KD could get a breather.

I have no problems with Russell sitting out. He looks ready to go, but they could have just went with "Rest" lol. I wonder if Beverly plays or if they go with Nowell and Wright.

Saw someone joke that we're giving tips to Ben Simmons on how to get out of games

Look, I know this has been beat to death, but after four preseason games, this time is in dire need of size at the 4/5.

Yeah, but not just any 4/5. We need a guy with size who has nba qualities outside of having size. You get a vet min/2-way guy with size, but can you give him more than 15 minutes on the court if he can only rebound and not get bullied? Guys like McD/Prince can switch and defend multiple positions, stretch the floor, cut, maybe create a bit if the shot clock is ticking etc. A vet min big guy playing 25-30 minutes would improve our rebounding, but he would take away switching/shooting etc. and most probably would have worse total impact than our undersized PF's.

We would have to give up real assets for a guy who has higher impact at PF than McD/Prince for 25-35 minutes, and when I say real assets, I don't mean Layman or Nowell and a 2nd rounder like a lot of delusional people on this board, because that doesn't land you such a guy, I mean Bolmaro or McDaniels plus a protected 1st rounder, or Beasley/Prince/Beverley plus a 1st if we're talking higher salary vets. But people here think Wolves can have their cake and eat it too.

For those not familiar with this time of year, these are moes being made so we can hold the G League rights off all these players.

This, and expect Vince Edwards to get waived ASAP for the same reason. He is not likely on an NBA contract.
