Wittman's philosophy is to draft Sam Bowie

Name one player who was Hibbert's size (ht +wt) or bigger and was not plagued by injuries his entire career.

Just wondering b/c most seem to have injuries from the waist down, i.e. Smits, Z, Yao, others...

I know in college he's been fine, but (1) they've kept his minutes down, and (2) college d/n compare to an 82 game season.

An important thing to remember is he has been healthy without any risk of injury, but here you go. Also this is a short sample stat and those are hard to trust, but here you go.

-Kareem_Abdul-Jabbar
-Benoit_Benjamin
-Shawn_Bradley (knee problems, but not due to height, but rather lack of strength against physical play)
-Wilt_Chamberlain
-Tyson_Chandler
-Vlade_Divac
-Kevin_Duckworth
-Mark Eaton
-Patrick Ewing
-Dikembe Mutombo
-Rasho Nesterovič
-Hakeem Olajuwon
-Shaquille O'Neal
-David Robinson
-Michael Olowokandi
-Robert Parish
-Joel Przybilla
-Felton Spencer
-Jake Tsakalidis
-Bryant Reeves(injuries were weight related)
heck, rumor is KG is 7'1 or so, add him to the list

I think the hard thing right now is a decent sample size of centers over 7'2

Also, with Yao it is important to note that some consider the stress fracture a reaction to not getting summers off. Remember he goes to China and plays. His Osteomyelitis is an infection and could happen to a midget.

Why is Hakeem Olajuwon on your list? He was like 6'10
In fact almost all those guys are shorter than Hibbert.

7'2 and over would a short list. 7'1 is a bit easier...7'2" 270+ would be a reeeally short list.

I was trying to gauge anyone in a similar range, just because the number is so small if we only do 7'3

An inch or 2 does not make that big of difference for risk on injury unless we are talking marital issues.

Thabeet is nasty.

This is a long shot but if we could somehow get a late lottery pick... man Rose could turn him into the next Dean Garrett only with monstrous shot blocking ability.

Eh. I think your pulling at strings here. I don't think the guys that were more athletic and more cut and weighed less are fair comparison. IMO acceptable out of your list:

Spencer (1 bad achilles injury + relegated to bench player early in career);

Reeves (weighed the same as Hibbert + career ending back injury);

Tsakalidis (good size comparison, but hasn't played much and still young enough to get injured);

Pryz (a tad smaller, bad injury history, still young enough to get injured more)

Kandi (leg problems; hasn't played much)

Duckworth (close in size; only six season over 70 games)

Divac (30lbs lighter; rare medical exception as he was also able to smoke a couple packs a day)

Eaton (Kudos for this one, I'll give you Eaton)

Nesterovic, Olajuwon, Motumbo (too small/light to warrant comparison)

Ewing, Shaw, Robinson, Wilt (Too athletic/muscular (= can support body weight) to warrant comparison)

Just my opinion, but I think Hibbert is a bad ankle/leg/back injury waiting to happen.

Anybody see the latest eition of the Realgm mockdraft?

Some interesting projections:

Mareese Speights at 5 (someone who has rarely been metoned here; reminds me of Big Al)

Hibbert at 17 (this is where I've had him all year)

Thabeet at 19 (^^^ditto; yet some wolves posters insist that we should take him in the top 5?)

I don't get the Thabeet love on these boards either.

Halfway there. Now just drop Love from your top 8 and we're set.

Speights is another guy I really like. If he enters the draft and we get screwed in the lottery, I'm sure this is a guy we'll bring in for a workout. Having 2 Big Al's is better than 1 right?
