The glove is already taken. The mitten sounds too Minnesota nice. How about the gauntlet? :-)

I asked Chat GPT for some ideas to give defensive dynamo Jaden a nickname; here’s what it said-
1. Jaden "The Wall" McDaniels
2. The McDaniels Menace
3. J-Mac Lockdown
4. The Seattle Stopper
5. Jaden "The Eraser" McDaniels
6. The Emerald City Enforcer
7. Jaden "The Sentinel" McDaniels
8. The Defensive Dynamo
9. Jaden "The Shield" McDaniels
10. The Emerald City Sentinel

None of its suggested names are particularly inventive, but “The Seattle Stopper” could have a dual meaning: Of course, stopper on the floor, but also a guy who - through his outstanding play and resulting team success - helped stop the Wolves from relocating to Seattle haha.

It certainly allows us to reset the natural pecking order on offense, which to me was the biggest goal and outcome of the trade.

Jaden needs to continue to be aggressive offensively. We need his scoring even when KAT comes back, having him be a consistent ~15 PPG scorer with his defense would be so huge.

Ha! I didn’t see that at all - that’s great!

The truth is, many nba nicknames don’t seem to have a lot to do with anything to do with the player. Anybody could be “The Big Ticket” for example. However, if we’re looking for an identifier, one of the things people always say about Jaden is that he’s so long, so maybe there’s something there?

The Long Arm of the Law is clunky and archaic. Long Shadow? A shadow is stuck right to you, and you can’t escape it?

I still think something will grow organically that we never saw coming, but maybe someone here will come up with it.

He has a “cool time” out there.

I enjoy guarding those guys," McDaniels said. "I've always watched them so just being able to guard them and try to make their night bad is fun for me."

Did he feel like he accomplished that?

"I think I did it a little bit for a cool amount of time during the game," McDaniels said. "At the end, started slipping, but I held my own."

It kind of fits his personality too. He’s never hot-tempered, and he never seems to get emotional even when he makes a great play.

I've been thinking for a while that his youth and frame and growing into his body remind me of a cross between a young Garnett and a young Giannis.
