Since 2008, there have only been 11 seniors selected with an assist rate (AST/TO) of 1.2 or worse, per Bart Torvik’s database: Buddy Hield, Jimmer Fredette, Chris Duarte, Ochai Agbaji, Matisse Thybulle, Marshon Brooks, Quincy Pondexter, Lazar Hayward, Davon Reed, Carrick Felix and Orlando Johnson. Hield and Thybulle are the only two hits in that group.

Terrence Shannon Jr AST/TO: 1.14

This definitely isn't a Vecenie draft for us

Dillingham 15
Shannon 39

I don't give a rat's ass about where Vecenie ranked them.

When is SL? I usually attend but I'm going to Minnesota July 11th to 18th.

We have traded away 4 future FRPs and two swaps, so we have mortgaged our future to try and win now. So go big or flame out.

Isn't Dillingham all about our future.

yeah, Sam's my guy, he puts in a ton of work

but for what the Wolves need at this point, for next few seasons, can't really argue with the picks, I doubt even Sam will

I like Sam too but here really are no experts. You never read about how often these guys are wrong. I'll take my chances with Tim Connelly.

I love both our picks tonight. Both of these guys are NBA ready. I love Shannon's ability to will the ball into the net. He's a powerhouse driver. Super athletic with size!

This is a home run draft. We got our PG of the future. Who could have imagined that going in tonight.

If there was a draft of best draft day posts this would be my first overall selection.

" PLUSES

Thrives pushing the pace in transition. He uses bursts of speed to get by defenses for lefty layups at the basket.

He’s a good at-rim scorer with slick footwork, and he finishes with craft at the basket.

In the half court, he's an aware cutter and loves to catch and go with straight-line drives to the rim. He needs little space to rise over defenders for dunks.

An improved handle helps him get into pick-and-rolls and pull-up 3s. Though he’s not a lead creator, he can reliably make kick-out passes or find a cutter.

He's made 79 percent of his free throws in college and has good touch near the rim, though he needs to prove he can hit from the field.

Defends with an explosive athleticism that allows him to make highlight plays like chase-down blocks or fly-in rebounds from the perimeter. He displays solid defensive fundamentals, which could allow him to earn NBA minutes right away."
----------------------------

It looks to me he's just the kind of guy we can use. He's 6'6" 220 with a 6'9 wing span. He shot 36.2 from 3 on 6 attempts per game. He put up 23 pts per game with a 62% TS%. I'll take that any day.

The guy was one of the best players in college ball last year. Any player can be picked apart but one has to acknowledge the positives too...of which there are many.

Great information. Thanks.

Here is list of best available players. Furphy, Christie, Filipowksi or Smith are on top of list

I know how stacked we are with bigs, but I'm getting a vibe that Filipowski will be a good player.

With 15 total spots and really only 14 players (given how much they cost,) I don’t know if we draft more than one more player this year. Especially if you want to sign Morris and Anderson even if you plan to trade one at the deadline.

Is holding a player's draft rights the same as being on the roster?

No. We still have the rights to Spagnolo (may have spelled that wrong,) and he still hasn’t come over and doesn’t count against our roster space. That is why it is called draft and stash.

Then Dillingham is not on our roster.

Read on Twitter

Hard to take anyone seriously when they say we're "rostering" Spagnolo.

Realistically 2-3 of those guys aren't NBA calibre players. And its possible TSJ never amounts to anything either. But we're not the Nets trading for 35 year old Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, so in that sense yeah losing the picks might not hurt as much as people make it out.

Exactly. Trading for a 19 year old player is seldom associated with mortgaging the future.

I’m joking about how KGdaBom is master of retrospect. As if we all needed to be informed of what happened during the draft.

For those that don’t recall, Tyreke Evans was the 2009-10 Rookie of the Year, over Steph Curry.

I like Tim Connelly’s drafting style. If this was investing, this pick and last year’s Leonard Miller and Jaylen Clark were all value investing, buying a stock much cheaper because other factors had pushed its price down below what it should be expected to return. It can be a little riskier, if those issues end up affecting the future return, but any time you can get a potentially good piece at a discount price, you give yourself the chance to profit.

Many have said that the best player from this draft could come from outside the lottery, and that player could be Shannon.

The biggest surprise for me is that TC found a way to raise our ceiling for the coming season (and beyond), I didn't think there was any way he could do that outside of a really good KAT trade.

Dillingham could be really really good, he has Darius Garland type potential.
Looking at tape, Kentucky played a similar offense to what we run and Dillingham did a pretty good job making reads.

He has some truly terrible defensive tape though. Truly terrible. Like D-Lo effort bad.
It's fixable though with coaching.

He will be on our roster, but isn't at this time. Just pointing it out. W4L said currently on our roster.

First round picks are pre negotiated by rule. Length, cost, ect… We traded an unprotected first to acquire him, he is making the team. If you want to argue that at the moment RD is not a wolf but will be soon, then fine, we can play that word game. Bottom line is we need 14 guys, we probably don’t want to be at 15, and we have 3 cap free two way guys.
