Kevin Love with a huge three to put Cleveland up by one. Then Nikola gets a pretty questionable foul call; Cleveland is challenging.

Nikola Jokić almost hit an absurd buzzer-beater. It's going to overtime.

Re: Postseason Watch
I don't like the play in tournament, I think it trivializes the regular season just like the expanded playoffs in baseball.
Remember the 40-20 Twins losing to a sub-500 Astros team that had no business being there?
Why should fans care about their teams winning in the regular season if an awful sub-35 win team (or 2 this year) gets a shot at the playoffs?
We had a play-in game the last day of the regular season vs the nuggets in the Jimmy Butler season.
That type of scenario where you have two very successful teams fighting over one spot is the only scenario where I could justify any sort of play-in game. The scenario this year where the wolves have a chance to get knocked out from even making the playoffs by a team that they may have 12 or more wins than, is an utter travesty. Especially after all those years of losing.
But the league doesn't care about fair competition, they only want a few more games of tv revenue and an excuse to get the lakers (and looks like nets) on tv a few more times.
The Clippers ate our lunch in november.
If we end up having to beat a suddenly full strength sub 35 win lakers (and the referees) just to MAKE the playoffs after the season we've had, well F the NBA for putting on its clown shoes.
I don't like the play in, but here are my rules:
1. Play in for 8th seed only
2. Any "9th or lower participant" must have at least 38 wins.
Lowest seed "9th and lower participant" plays the next highest seed in 1 game sudden death until a victor emerges (higher seed gets home court).
(so if 11 teams had>38 wins, 11 would play 10, winner plays 9, winner of that plays for the 8th seed).
3. Winner of 9th and lower tournament plays the 8th seed in a best of 3 series, with the 8th place finisher being awarded one victory.
8th place finisher gets 2 home games and only has to win one.
4. Any gap of 5 games or more in regular season win total results in automatic bye for a team. (gap of 5 between 8 and 9, no play in tournament. gap of 5 games between 9 and 10, 10 an lower are eliminated).

Re: Postseason Watch
What would my system have looked like in past years:
'21 West
9 Grizz (38-34) vs 8 Warriors (39-33)
East
8 Wizards (34-38) vs 9 Pacers (34-38) (prorated 38 wins each, charlotte just misses out with 37 at 33-39).
Actual: Spurs made the play in at 33-39 with a 9 win gap between 7 (Lakers) and 10 (Spurs).
Charlotte made the play in at 10 @ 33-39, but only a 3 win gap between 7 (Celtics) and 10.
'20 West
8 Portland (35-39) 9 Mem (35-39), 10 PHX (34-39)
'20 East
No Play in. 9 Cha (23-42) both sub 38 wins prorated and 8 game gap to 8 Orl
Under current rules, Washington and Charlotte would have made the play in that year with pro-rated 82 game win totals of 28 and 29.
Yuck.
''19 West
No play in. 9 Sac (39-43) was 9 games behind 8 (LAC 48-34, SAS 48-34).
Under current rules would have been 7 SAS (48), 8 LAC (48), 9 Sac (39), 10 LAL (37).
Ridiculus, but not as bad as this years win gaps will be.
'19 East
8 Det (41-41), 9 CHA (39-43), 10 MIA (39-43)
'18 West
8 Min (47), 9 Den (46), 10 LAC (42) - This is the type of finish that justifies a play in.
'18 East
8 Was (43), 9 Det (39)
Most years there is at least an 8-9 game, some there is a 10th seed, but they had to earn it.
'15 West
8 NO (45), 9 OKC (45),
PHX (39) and Utah (38) would have made it 10 and 11, but they had a 6 win gap with 9 OKC

Re: Postseason Watch
2 things I think they need to address are:
1. You need to meet a minimum threshold to earn your way into the play in tournament.
2. They need to give teams a way to win their way out of falling into the play in tournament regardless of seeding, and I think a win gap accomplishes that. I'd prefer 3, but I'll take 5.

I couldn't disagree more about it "trivializing the regular season," it makes it way more exciting. If there was not the play-in, there would be zero stakes, at this point in the season. Instead, the chase for the sixth seed is incredibly exciting.

Cavs get the 2 for 1 and Mark hits the mark from deep to go up 117-114 Cleveland.

Man, it sucks that Minnesota couldn't choose the 2021 Draft to jump up in the Draft. Evan Mobley would have been unbelievable, next to Towns.

Minnesota is one game back of Denver and 2.5 games back of Dallas. Because of Minnesota's schedule, there is a world where they can pass both (even if doubtful).

We play Denver once and Dallas twice. That means functionally that 1 game back is 0 if we win and the 2.5 back is .5 back if we win both. Control of our destiny means we win out and we are guaranteed 6. We don’t need any help as long as we win. Are we going to win out, very unlikely (almost impossible,) but it sure is nice to be in the driver seat for once.

The Clippers ate our lunch when we were still finding ourselves. Three games within a 6-game span all within the first 12 games of the season. We are 37-22 (.629) since then, including our own 18-point beatdown of the Clippers in January without Karl-Anthony Towns.
Again I remind people, we would have two games at Target Center. This is important, especially considering both teams would be flying in from Los Angeles in this scenario. We have the advantage.

Re: Postseason Watch
The chase to not have the opportunity to get screwed out of the playoffs by a team you have a dozen more wins than in single elimination games is "exciting".
After one playoff appearance over 17 years.
Winning games should be excitement enough for fans. Without stupid gimmicks.
But I get it, its 2022. War is Peace, 2+2=5.
They need to put some limits on this little gimmick because in a just world the Lakers and Pelicans would be eliminated and we'd be just as excited about trying to improve our seeding.
