Man, everyone that was on the Miller bandwagon pre-draft saying he was a first round talent is looking pretty smart through 2 games.

I was hoping he’d develop a bit more of a shot, handle, passing, something. My hope was he was a Jerami Grant starter kit. He’s got time but he’s got to start making skill development jumps.
He's got good touch around the rim, is a great cutter, and has good post footwork and body control combined with his length to be able to make a lot of crafty buckets near the rim. Great in transition.
He doesn't have to have those other things, especially not now to be a helpful rotation player.

He's a much better shooter than I initially thought. His mechanics are improved a lot in a short time.
Minott and Brandon Williams look great too. Nobody else is.
Something draft-niks who had Miller high on the board were on about is his pace of development. The guy looks like a different player from one week to the next.
And isn't that amazing? You wonder just how good can he be?

He's completely out of control on way too many drives. Add in that he doesn't seem to have great touch and it's a recipe for a lot of ugly misses.
I disagree, I think he has strong touch.
I haven't seen much evidence of touch in the two summer league games.

I don't know. He's missed some tough contested layups where you question if he should be trying to make buckets but he makes a lot of shots around the rim.

He still has 3 months and some change to put up 1,000 3's a day.

He makes dunks and open layups, but any sort of defensive contest and he misses badly.

I haven't seen that at all.

It seems pretty obvious to me.

Re: 2023 summer league
Keyonte George is good. Not sure if he’ll develop into a starting point or a scorer off the bench, but he looks good. Kessler/George is a nice start for Utah on the return for Rudy (along with 3 more FRPs from us and the Lakers pick they got for our spare parts).

We needed WMJ and Clark to put the clamps on freaking Juzang and George.

Miller showed his rawness in his last rotation stint. The potential is all there. He is weird though.

He doesn't have to have those other things, especially not now to be a helpful rotation player.
In our system he's got to be able to shoot the 3 well enough for the other team to not just leave him wide open in the corner.
I see a Brandon Clarke - esque path for him to being an NBA rotation player as an athletic springy energy big, but he's got a ways to go in both strength and BBIQ to get there.

I think he started to get frustrated, in part in his teammates inability to even make simple passes, and tried to do more than he’s capable of for now. He’s probably mostly in the gleague this year but at the rate he’s developing, I think he’ll be in the rotation next year, especially since I think financially we’ll have to move one of KAT/Rudy by next offseason.

I don't think we've seen him be able to do that in the g league because of the format and the roster. I think he's a willing shooter and a passable catch and shoot 3 point shooter.

How big do these guys look in person? Is Miller a legit 6'10" ?
I bet Walker is a monster at 7'2".
To me, Miller looks like the only guy for us with a legit NBA body. Minott still rather skinny.
I can see why the Jazz liked George even after the rough college stats, he has the length and athleticism to create his own shot against NBA caliber players.
Seems like a very streaky player with both shooting and decision making.
2 things that can be improved though.
You can't fix short or slow.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
