Do you know any JRs? Its an incredibly common nickname to use the first letter of the first name and J for JR. It helps separate the father from the son in the household as well. So you'd have Terrence and Terrence Jr. Often shortened to TJ (which is, in fact, his actual nickname that his friends and teammates call him).

Rowan Alexander "RJ" Barrett Jr.
Timothy John "TJ" McConnell Jr.
Paul Jamaine "PJ" Washington Jr.
Perry "PJ" Dozier Jr.

:banghead:

If Anthony Edwards named his son after him, his name would be Anthony Jr., not Edwards Jr. Otherwise all of his kids would be called Edwards Jr because they would each have his last name, and that would just be confusing with all of the kids he has.

How about George Foreman. Can all of his sons be Jr.

I get that he may go by TJ. But TSJ is just his initials. Essentially the same as listing NAW as NAW as opposed to typing out his full name.

I think either is fine on a message board.

Now we need to get back to real issues. Like if Dilly is the biggest bust since Anthony Bennett. Maybe since Darko Milicic. (Kidding, I’m kidding).

Dilly will not be a bust. I refuse to allow that to happen. That is my word and as such is beyond contestation.

As someone carrying a family name that goes back many generations the way it's handled is generally left to the traditions of said family. For instance in my family the first went by the original name, the second by the middle name, the third by initials, and after that nicknames became prevalent. Adding J after the first initial is a very, very common way to handle the situation, both because it's logical and because you can add J to just about anything and it works.

So while it may seem odd, it is very common..
From a fundamental standpoint it is better for a man to have nothing but be under the protection of Jesus Christ than for him to have everything he could ever want yet be completely without.

We haven't had many Jrs on the Wolves. I like TSJ better, but I guess TJ is fine.

Because you actually believe in him as a player or because there's just so much at stake if he is a bust?

Grammatically, Klomp is wrong on this one. Nicely done, KGdaBom.

It's an all encompassing power of mine to will it into existence. Honestly I do believe in his talent, but I know it's a fine line between stardom and bust. I hope he has managed to keep his confidence through all that has transpired.

Thank you. It's not a big deal either way. My brother Robert has a son name Anthony Robert who my mom called T Bob. Nicknames can come about in all sorts of ways. One of my favorites is my old roommate Paul when people started calling him Paulywog and the Pauly got dropped off and he became simply Wog.
I don't like dropping the last name out when going by initials and Terrence Junior Shannon sounds strange to me. Terrence Shannon Jr sounds right. So my preference, but obviously a lot of Initialed nicknames drop out the last name or transpose the last and Jr.

There's nothing grammatical about it.

He's only Jr. because he shares the same first name as his father, not because he shares the same last name as his father.

No one has argued that it should be TJS. That would be ridiculous.

He's only Jr. because he shares the same first name as his father, not because he shares the same last name as his father.

When you use the word literally to me that means something very specific. His name is literally Terrence Edward Shannon Jr. He is not IMO literally Terence Jr. I guess that's debatable, but to me it is clear.

I've seen it posted here IIRC as TJS or spoken as TJS. That got me annoyed and provoked my comment that he is TSJ not TJ.

Good catch. I wonder if anybody else caught on. One of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies. I hate that crowd. They're all POS hating on him until the prince shows up and then applauding him. What a great cast. Heath Ledger, Rufus Sewell, Mark Addy, Paul Bettany, Alan Tudyk, James Purefoy and Shannyn Sossamon. Laura Fraser was also great as the Blacksmith Kate, but I'd never heard of her.

“For he is like gold, and we are merely iron, and you would come here to watch him rust?” That kinda reminds you of fans booing the home team, no?
