Ant should be completely off the table for Ben Simmons.

Edwards was Rosas' guy. I think he got the pick right. But there is no guarantee he develops into the player Simmons is right now. Does Gupta and/or Lore feel the same way?
Ant is better - and is more valuable - than Simmons right now. It's like trading Jerry Rice for Ernest Givins.

I’m sorry if Timberwolves fans think Sixers actually wanted Russell. Russell has never been wanted in any trade involving Simmons. That’s why Minnesota had to pivot to other pieces such as Beasley and picks.
If they wanted Russell. The trade would have been done much sooner cause of the matching salaries
The passage of times makes people forget a lot of the things. But Russell was completely exposed during nets Sixers playoff series in 2019. He is what he is. A volume shooter who can be shut down but elite defender. Which is what happened in 2019.
That’s what playoff basketball does to players. It exposes players. Ben Simmons got exposed and got mental breakdown.
Russell had horrible series in 2019. Sixers organization doesn’t forget that.
Do you have any documentation that Morey ties Russell’s 2021 value to the five playoff games in 2019, when he was the GM of the Rockets, or is this just how you feel?
Also curious if you are going to a lot of other team’s boards to trash their players, or is it just us? This is apparently your fourth post in our new Simmons thread.
No. I’m just explaining the reason for not wanting Russell. We all know how Russell plays. He can be easily stopped as the Sixers did when he was with the nets.
Sexton is a player I’ll rather have as a package to play point guard for sixers over Russell. Sexton doesn’t play much defense either but he’s at least a better shooter.
The Sixers need an iso shooter who can break down defense.
If the choice came down to Russell as the main package or CJ McCollum. CJ plus roco would be the better answer for the Sixers. And that offer will
Always be on the table from Portland.
Kuclas I appreciate your coming here and sharing your thoughts, but unless you can show how you know this lack of interest in Russell your saying it carries no weight. You said that Simmons got exposed so I suppose the Wolves have no interest in him.
Simmons and Russell are both good players whether being "exposed" in the playoffs or not. IMO Russell would fit in very well with the 76ers. That said I hope we are not offering him. I would rather unite the superfriends than divide them.

What if it's Edwards, Prince, Beverley for Simmons and Tyrese Maxey.
We would be $2.3M under the luxury tax with 13 guys.
Russell/McLaughlin
Beasley/Maxey
McDaniels/Bolmaro
Simmons/Vanderbilt
Towns/Reid
That starting and finishing lineup is pretty deadly. Depth is thin, but that's your 10 man rotation

Ben Simmons Thread #2 (“Don’t make me contact Howard” Edition)
If ant was considered for any Simmons deal, the entire thing would be done by now.
The list of players I’d give ant up for would have to be under 25 years old and is extremely short. Simmons isn’t on that list. Obviously that opinion has a right to change when ant has a few more seasons. What I saw as a 19 yr old rookie in the second half of the year was nothing short of phenomenal.
An nba body, top notch athleticism and one of the purest shooting strokes I’ve seen? Yes

Dude. Lol.
I don’t even want to give up Beverly and i especially don’t want to give up ant.
Let Philly stew on this or publicly announce we’re out of the BS sweepstakes. Last thing we need after these last few days is players being distracted whether they’re going to be traded at any moment.

In his appearance on Zach Lowe’s podcast, Jon Krawczinski said that the Simmons very public refusal to play for the Sixers is what the Timberwolves and other teams have been waiting two months for.

That's why I don't want Simmons. I understand not wanting to play for the team again, but don't kick and scream your way out. Just simply tell them you want out. Maybe I still have PTSD from the Butler exit. Plus they think are going to get a haul for him. Why gut a team for a one way player. (Especially one who has mental/confidence issues.)

Is it so crazy? We put together a Top 10 starting lineup in the league. And if Bolmaro hits then you have 4 solid guys coming off the bench (I like Maxey and think he would be an interesting piece to get bac if we were forced to give up Ant for Simmons.
Maybe you can find a way to trade Okogie for a better shooting 3 (If we do get Simmons, whatever package that is accepted, I don't see a world where Okogie, Simmons and Vanderbilt are on the same team. You can't play any of them together, so not sure where the minutes are coming from.

I personally feel that Ant is significantly too much to give up and we look better the way we are than in your trade. The tar and feathering would come due to Ant's popularity regardless of whether the trade is fair or not.

He is just taking the advice of his agent. This is all telegraphed. Give the guy a break.

The team is not trading Ant for Simmons. Don’t waste your finger tips on such nonsense.

Well, like Butler, he did tell them to trade him quietly at first. Morey made token efforts, setting a ridiculously high asking price, to claim he technically was trying to make a trade.
But yeah, I’m with you after Butler, and I worry about the league’s future when star players can bail out on any contract they want. Not be good for Minnesota.

After the visits from kuclas and tomjas, I was curious what a Ben Simmons trade thread looked like over on the PHI board. Overall, I found it not so bad. Sure there were some extremists. A few of the ones I’ll share that made me laugh were like ..
- yeah, if Edwards is going to be Kobe, we should trade Simmons, but I think he’s only going to be Marbury or Baron Davis! (So I guess he wouldn’t give up Ben for a 19-year old Steph or Baron?!?)
- MIN is under pressure now! KAT is going to demand either Edwards is traded for his buddy Simmons, or he’ll demand a trade!
- do you think Klutch will let MIN trade Edwards to PHI?
… but the majority were rational posters, particularly the ones saying, “Isn’t Edwards off the table?”
Overall, I think they are the typical fan group - the road show we see here is just a biased sample. More lively than us, and several good, realistic posters.

I think most posters on this board would be vehemently angry at trading Edwards.
I know I've said it b before (for Zach) and it's an empty threat but I'm done with this franchise if we trade Edwards.

I’m on record as stating if we trade Ant, I’m not only done with the Wolves but the NBA altogether. The only reason I even follow the NBA is because I’ve been a huge homer fan since Pooh was drafted.
At this point, I’d rather trade KAT and build around Ant and I’m a huge fan of Towns.
