Canis comment:

poppopwow
"I watched virtually every minute of Shannon's career at Illinois-you guys don't realize just what you're getting. He's a blur on offense-just outstanding on the break. Very aggressive driver and draws a lot of fouls. Was the best defender on the team-always guarded the other team's best backcourt player. Most of all, tremendous character-goes to the gym at 4:30 in the morning most days. I saw a couple of people here refer to him as 'selfish'-nothing could be further from the truth. An absolutely humble, team player. He actually declined to come in one game because his back-up was playing so well. He might have seemed selfish because he was the focus of the offense but that was his coach's decision. They didn't run any plays for him-just gave him the ball and trusted that he would make the correct decision. He's the kind of player that fans fall in love with, which is why you're going to inherit virtually the entire Illinois fan base, one of the most passionate (annoying?) fan bases of them all. I'm certainly going to watch all of your games."
----------------------------

How about that? I'm stoked!!!

Everybody probably remembers this but he averaged 34 ppg during the Big Ten Tournament and 31 ppg over a 6 game stretch between the Big Ten tournament the first 3 games of the NCAA tournament. He looked like an elite scorer. It kind of ended with a thud against UConn, but it was still a very impressive run.

Yes Castle shut him down he shot 2/12, although Castle had a terrible game too.
Kind of scratching my head Castle goes 4 overall after shooting 26% from 3 but Shannon lasts to 27.
Castle screams Kris Dunn to me and got drafted high because of age and size.

Castle/Dillingham going to be a debate among Spurs fans for years to come.
Lets hope Dillingham blows up and we have 2 unguardable studs in our backcourt.

Lot of guys we were hoping for at 37 off the board, getting rid of Moore maybe not such a bad move.

Really not looking forward to Edey setting crushing screens for Ja and Bane for years to come.
Of our competitors in the West, I think Memphis is the only other team that got significantly better in this draft.

I like him. Could have been a Kyle Anderson replacement as a defensive combo forward off the bench. But definitely not the end of the world.

I prefer Harrison Ingram over him, easily. My Wolves comp for Klintman is Adreian Payne.

Guys still on the board I like: McCullar, Christie, Edwards, Ingram, Djurisic, and Freeman. I would love to see Connelly move back up to grab Christie.

It's a perimeter league and at times the Wolves were anything but that. Would love to see a second unit with Rob, NAW, Shannon, SloMo, and Naz. Get out and let it fly.

But they would be brutal defensively, so they need to score a lot just to break even.

Disagree. SloMo and NAW anchor it. Shannon has the build, athleticism, and tenacity to be solid on defense (plus he's an older player from a physical basketball conference). And the reality is they are guarding mostly bench players in that situation (especially during the regular season), which typically lack the offensive skills of starters. As long as they commit to 4-5 guys rebounding, I'd much rather watch that unit - with five guys capable of handling the ball - than slow-footed bricklayers. But to each their own.

There is no rim protector and Dillingham and Naz can be abused defensively. NAW gets beaten against good players. Shannon will be a rookie and I think he's going to struggle defensively at least early on. SloMo is long and can play some defense, but if he's your best defender, you better be able to outscore the other team. I'm not sure I want Shannon playing right away, he can't pass and we need to integrate Dillingham into the rotation first.

Cam would have been a great fit for the Wolves as a guy who could develop into a volume 3pt shooter, something the team still needs.

McCullar, Ingram, and Freeman could be useful players. Edwards is also an option as an upside lottery ticket.

Spurs just grabbed Ingram.

I'd be more than happy with Keshad or Ulrich.
