Monte just signed with the Suns
That's what the 2030 second round pick wasted?

Agreed. I think he has everything the team would be looking for...except defense.
Corner 3s...something this team always needs from role players playing off the stars...is one of his specialties. 46% for his career, and only one season below 40% (.365 in 2019-20).

Sure, if they knew at the deadline they were going to do the Dillingham deal, they might not have traded for Morris. But there was no way of knowing that. It was an opportunity to try to upgrade the position before injuries derailed his season.

That’s where I’m at. Yes, Connelly “wasted” a 2nd, but that second paid for two possible pathways that could have been disasterous. If Conley got hurt before or during the playoffs, we were doomed. Also, having the Bird rights on Monte before we knew that Conley would sign an extension was pretty important too. I would justify it as paying a 2nd for catastrophe insurance.

Re: 2024 Free Agency
I’m sure we would have offered that, and Morris simply chose PHX over MIN, because of the better opportunity, and a chance to get a bigger contract next year with more exposure.

Re: 2024 Free Agency
So no Morris next year. May want JMcL back at vet minimum. Also with so many vets being FA, I hope we get Hayward in for minimum or what ever we can offer

This means he loses his bird rights, and comes off the bench behind either Booker or Beal. I wonder how many more minutes the Suns promised him to make him do this? TC probably leveled with him that he should not expect many here. JMAC probably the PG3 Finch chose. If Mike goes down we may be ******.

Probably both. Both those guys are natural SGs and we saw how badly Phoenix needed a real PG during the Playoffs.
I've been saying he'd end up in Denver, Phoenix or LAC. It just makes so much more sense for him.

So you think he gets 30 MPG or around that?

Well good luck to the Suns and hoping Morris finds his shot and manages to stay healthy for once.

Probably closer to 25. Which is more in line with his career. But I think he'll have a defined role and a consistent one. Something he was unlikely to get here.

Re: 2024 Free Agency
So, with Morris and KA gone, what can we spend in free agency besides vet minimums?

In Connelly we trust.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in either Lonnie Walker IV or Dario Saric for the veteran minimum, per Darren Wolfson.
If we sign Lonnie Walker I will publicly apologize to Doogie for not believing his rumours for years.

Also GREAT chemistry w/Gobert
