The CBA limits Coby White’s extension at $18 mil, and he wants $30 per year. Worse, MIN wouldn’t even have the right to match another team’s offer, because he will be a fully unrestricted free agent. This means we would have to trust Coby would want to be here specifically, and he wouldn’t just choose a different location, especially one that would pay him more.

there is very little money available, the few teams that do will spend it on far better players than Coby White (Myles Turner, Paul George, etc) or will use it to bail out the good teams that are working around the aprons

a player of White's caliber hasn't changed teams for more than MLE money in like five years, and the league-wide money situation is only going to get worse

He played really well the 2nd half of the season. Approaching his prime, lost a year from injury, role wasn't quite defined early on. He is worth a moderately risky contract, and will get paid.

I still believe that TC can turn Bitadze/Suggs into another NAW/Conley story. Goga is exactly low profile high impact bigman that can fit next to our core guys (Ant/Randle/McDaniels/Reid). I mean a performance like this would be exactly what MIN needs from С position: presence under rim on both sides, rebounding and some passing. This is kind of NAWs type of impact, but from bigman position.

Also this trade might create enough room for Clark's next contract AND 2026 FRP. Not sure about DDV next contract tho, but Suggs and Bitadze 2026-27 descending might be a manna from heaven for MIN financial situation.

This is partially correct. Naz and JR cannot play 4/5. Instead they should be evaluated when playing with Rudy as 3/4. That said, we BADLY need a backup 5. If Joan will not be played then he needs to go Iowa immediately and someone will get on the floor must be signed or traded for.

Is Rudy the right C for Ant. Put aside the aging and expected decline, Rudy cannot jump shoot. Rudy can barely even do a layup if there is any opponent within 5 feet of him. Ant wants clean driving lanes and kick out options. Rudy is great in some schemes, but he interferes with our offense. The huge on/off differential is a function of depth at the C. Rudy is elite at rim and paint protection, but his age and limitations are starting to catch up with him. This is the ideal time to move him. Naz is pre prime and playing out of position. He will defend better when he allowed to settle in at the PF. Even if Naz does not, his offense and rebounding hopefully will be good enough to keep around. What we badly need is a move that brings in a starter quality PG and a passable C.

Naz and Rudy were one of our best two-man pairings for Net Rtg last year. I used to believe that Naz had learned how to play with Rudy, but now I think Rudy has just had more time figuring out how to cover for Naz’s failings.

I still believe that Gobert is the best fit “for the team.” As Chris Finch said last week on the Zach Lowe show, we badly needed his defense and rebounding - and his presence underneath. In my mind, we still do. If Rudy isn’t the best fit for Ant, I put the blame squarely on Ant’s shoulders, for being unwilling to learn to throw lobs, and for waving off Gobert’s crushing screens. I have been hoping for two years that Ant would spend time with Mike Conley and focus on turning Gobert into an offensive asset, but instead he has developed more parts to his own game. I can’t complain about the three point shooting, and while he needed the middy personally, the team needed him to start using Rudy.

It’s especially selfish to do this to a Memphis fanbase who loves him, despite all the immature ways he’s hurt their team.
