^ I noticed that when Washington got #1 they took Perry Jones(makes sense), so we got Irving at #2 :)

I kind of like this draft depending on who declares. Perry Jones, Kyrie Irving, and Kemba Walker look like surefire starters/stars to me (Kyrie Irving looks like a top 5 pg imo, I'm very high on him), then the rest of the top 10 you have guys with high basketball IQ's that look to be solid role players on good teams.

I don't know when it happened but I'd really like Burks for this team. He's the best SG in this draft and apparently has some ball handling ability. I love Irving and Jones as well but I'm not sure where Jones would fit on this team. What about Kanter? Are people worried because he didn't play this season?

Only put up 33 points, 10 rebounds in tonights upset victory over Texas

New write up on Burks at DX.

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Alec-Burks-5819/

So I wonder, with him being the only shooting guard in the draft and seemingly every team in the NBA needing one, does somebody reach to take him early? Seems likely to me.

I think he'll be a top 10 pick and I don't think that's reaching at this point. Guys that can create and get to the FT line are a rare commodity.

I think Cleveland with that Clippers pick is the best bet

Looking more and more like we will get the Memphis pick while the Utah pick will slide to next season.

Guys I like at the moment.

Perry Jones - I just can't go past this guy. I think his offensive ability and athletic body make up for his supposed lack of toughness and hustle. He can score around the basket which is what we sorely need from our bigs at the moment.

Alec Burks - As others have said, he has the ability to create off the dribble that we need at the wing spot. His outside shot is not fantastic but with Johnson/Beasely/Webster/Ridnour we dont need that, we need someone who will put the ball on the floor and take it hard to the rim.
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

I think Perry Jones will bust. He should dominate way more than he does. If he's not doing it now, will he do it later? History tells us no.

I'd still go with either Valanciunas or Kanter...we need a decent 2-way C for the future, after watching the wolves get abused in the paint last night I'm pretty much convinced of this.

Haven't seen Burks play. From the hype, doubt he makes it to the Memphis pick. Which is too bad, it looks like we could use someone like him.

I still think Barnes is my guy for this team.

(1) He's sort of a local product (from Aimes - 4 hrs away) so we know he won't be unhappy playing in the twin cities.

(2) College wings typically don't set the word on fire their freshman years. Look at Mayo, Derozan, Brandon Roy, Joe Johnson, etc.

(3) He is high A+++ character with leadership intangibles.

I don't think Kanter will be a very good defender in the NBA, he's similar to Jefferson, slightly bigger probably and with not so polished low post game.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

I think Kanter could be around Darko-level defense, which is probably just good enough if his offense is also OK. I've only seen one Kanter game though so my opinion can be swayed.

I agree with one of the previous posters...Valanciunas looks like he'd be a great fit next to Love on both ends...and if we rolled out a Randolph/Love/Valanciunas front court on occasion it could be a lot of fun to watch. Need Rubio for a line-up like that, because no one can create their own shot.

Here's my rank for the Wolves

Barnes
Irving
Valanciunas
Jones
Burks

I think Barnes is going to be special.

Interesting. At this point, I can't imagine he would declare for the draft unless he lights it up starting right now. BUT, if he DID come out, he might be available later on, and the Wolves have enough talent at SF that he could develop slowly. If he declares for the draft.

I really like Barnes, Burks, and Kanter. Kanter will probably be the best defensive big in the draft, at least based off everything I've read. I'm just not sure if Barnes can play SG in the NBA. If he's another SF then I'm not sure if we have room for him.

This is what I thought at the beginning of the year too. But with Wes showing he can defend top SG, I think it'd be okay.

And also the fact that he was the #1 recruit out of HS, is the first freshman EVER to be voted on the preseason all american team, and his character is so exceptional. You just don't see highly scouted guys with great work ethic and more than half a brain fail.

He's consistently improved throughout the year and has shown that he doesn't shy away from the big moments. #Winner

yeah i like really like the thought of burks on this team, my dream draft would be taking jonas at 3 and combining an asset with the memphis pick and moving up and taking burks(although i REALLY want vesely on this team but he isn't as much of a need)

if you guys haven't heard of or seen tomas satoransky, he's going to be the next 2nd round ginobilli like steal imo. he's 6'6/6'7 19 year old from czech republic and starting point guard for his team cajasol in the acb in spain and in the eurocup(qualifying for euroleague competition). he will project as a shooting guard who can play spot point minutes in the nba. he's althletic(won the acb dunk competition), has very good handles, rebounds well for a guard, good passer and shooter. he can shoot the 3 ball as he is shooting 40.4% in acb and 52.4% in euro cup competition(3 point line in europe is now close to that in nba). he won't turn 20 until later this year and i doubt he enters the draft this year but we should definitely take him if he does declare, he's gonna be a complete steal.
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Tom ... nsky-5280/ (says he is 6'7.5 with 38' max vert)

there isn't a lot of videos of him but:
