Re: Adelman wants a "very aggressive" off season
Just to be clear, I am not in the "don't want Martin" camp.
I'm in the "don't want to trade anything of value for Martin" camp.
If Barea and Wes Johnson is all it takes, then I'd be happy to add Martin and go after a SF.

Re: Adelman wants a "very aggressive" off season
I'm not sure if it's a great idea, but getting Iggy and Martin is affordable. Assuming we trade Martell, Darko (5.22 mil), Wes (4.28 mil), pick(s) and perhaps Ellington (2.08 mil) in the deals;
Love, Iggy, Martin, Rubio, Pek, Luke, JJ, Lee and Williams would be a $64.2 million payroll for those 9 guys, we'd need to add 4 or 5 more players. The cap next season is rumored to be about $60 million, the tax should start around $72 million. They would still have a $5 million contract to hand to a big to backup Pek. If Kahn includes JJ (4.3 mil) or Williams (4.8 mil) things get easier.
Rubio/JJ/Luke
Martin/Luke/Lee
Iggy/Williams/?
Love/Williams/?
Pek/Love/?
That's a very nice group, I think they'd make the second round of the playoffs fairly easily.

Re: Adelman wants a "very aggressive" off season
I think Martin and Iguodala would be one or the other, but not both.
HOWEVER, I could definitely see a Martin and Ariza possibility. I think the both of them wouldn't cost much more than Iguodala would. They take up ~5m more of the cap than Iguodala does, but you're also filling two starting spots instead of one.
If you had a choice of Iguodala or Martin/Ariza, which would you choose? Which do you think Kahn and Adelman would choose?

I'd be pretty surprised if we went out and got Martin since both Kahn AND Adelman have said that he's overpaid and doesn't fit the team.

Did Adelman say that? I know Kahn has...but now that Martin is an expiring it makes a bit more sense.

Also remember that Kahn's quote came at a time where we were gutting the roster of its bad contracts. Now, we are building a contender, and I think Kahn and Taylor realize that they are going to have to spend money to get a winning product on the floor.
Here's another way to look at things. Martin is an expiring. Ariza has a player option next offseason, and Iguodala has an ETO. If these are guys being targeted, it makes sense because money could be freed up for the mega 2013 free agency period. Right now, we are on the books for 30 million between 7 players. I doubt Wes' team option will be exercised, so thats 25 mil to 6 players. Also included is Darko's 5+ mil deal, which can be reduced to 1.75m if waived or removed completely if amnestied, so thats 21 mil to 5 players.
Thats a lot of flexibility in a major FA crop.

I would love to come out of the offseason with Iggy and Ray Ray.
Oh man, not going to happen but I would love it.
how many teams not named Raptor or Bobcat can offer a starting SG position, next to no competition, and more than the vet minimum?
I'm sure that playing on a contender means quite a bit to Allen at this point.
If we brought in a piece like Iggy or Crash or even Ariza, we'd be able to offer him all that and he'd be a VITAL piece to a playoffbound team that while might not be top dog, is a rather scary team to have to face in a 7 game series for just about any team in the west. That may be more appealing than riding coat-tails on the Heat or Thunder. The guy has a ring with KG/PP.

I'm sure Allen would love to play here after all the "great" things KG has told him about our owner and organization over the years.

JR Smith may be available.

Re: Adelman wants a "very aggressive" off season
If we were able to sign AK47, he could start at 3 and play 4 about half the time (backing up Love and also playing 4 in small lineups with Love at 5). He could also back up both D-Will and Love, if D-Will starts at 3 next season. I think having AK on the court would really help our overall defense. I would love to get AK and Dudley (maybe for #18 and an expiring or something like that), and would consider that a good offseason that doesn't break the bank/destroy cap flexibility. I'd be okay with Allen or Martin, but I would rather get a younger player who can grow with us (like Dudley). I know AK isn't young, but I think he has a few good years left, he's a really strong defender, and I love the lineup flexibility he gives us.
This would give us a core of: Rubio/Dudley/D-Will/Love/Pek + AK-47 as 6th man (filling in at multiple positions and playing starter minutes)... I would love to watch that team next year.

No SGs at all in that lineup. No thanks.

Kirilenko will go to the Nyets or a contender and that line-up just wouldn't work.

You might disagree with me about whether the lineup I posted will work (seems like it would work really well to me... but obviously JMO), but Dudley is definitely a shooting guard. He's played both 2 and 3 at different times in his career, but most recently he's been Phoenix's starting shooting guard (Grant Hill is small forward)... Phoenix's most frequent lineup last season was Nash/Dudley/Hill/Frye/Gortat. Dudley is a career 41% 3-point shooter and a good wing defender... I've always thought of him as more of a 2 than a 3, but he can play either.

Oh, please no. I don't want this guy anywhere close to our roster.

Nor do we want his crazy sister near our fans.

Just because you start games at a position doesn't make it your ideal position. Otherwise, we wouldn't need a SG because we have two in Ridnour and Johnson.

I just wanna say that Mayo has made some very poor choices since his 20 point game.

Consider an offer for Courtney Lee. He’ll probably get about 7 million in FA, which is slightly less than what Aaron Afflalo received last year. I doubt Houston decides to keep both Martin and Lee.

Gay hasn't been particularly great either. He plays a little like Beasley. He makes up his mind that he's going to shoot the ball before he makes a move and ends up going 1 on 3. I wouldn't take that contract if I was the Wolves. I'd rather have Batum who plays in the flow of the offense.
