David Robinson was still pretty close to his prime when they drafted Duncan, and Duncan played all 4 years of college (more pro ready).
They were both big-time players at the same time. I don't think either Towns or Garnett is a big time player right now.

Best-case scenario, but it would be a pretty good one...

Obviously not on court.. D Rob was still an All Star a few years after Duncan arrived.
But in terms of mentoring.. maybe.. KG has a very good chance of passing on his enormous passion, grit and will to KAT and Wiggins most of all

If Karl and Andrew both reach their potential.. Wiggins could be something between VC,Kobe and Dominique Wilkins and KAT some mix of Ewing,Duncan and KG.. the T Wolves could have THE both ends of the floor duo of the next decade.

I have to say considering how it looked for you guys a few years back... Nice turnaround.. now you propably have the most exciting young Team in the NBA.

Wiggins,KAT,Rubio,Lavine,Bennet,Payne,Shabazz,Jones is a very nice young(even Rubio is only 24 hard to believe^^)core

have fun!

The Big KAT is going to make the game so much easier for Wiggins, Lavine, and Shabazz.

Spot up jump shots and drives to the hoop all day.

I feel like Karl is down the list as far as "Looking forward to players" on the Wolves.

This is what I feel like we most want to see in order:

1. Wiggins
2. Rubio
3. Lavine
4. Bazz
5. Towns
6. Bjelica

Am I wrong or nah?

Yea, I agree. Towns was a huge investment - there's almost guaranteed to be some studs from that draft. We can't look back and say we took the wrong guy. He at least needs to be a plus defensive presence from the frontcourt. That's really not an option if the Wolves plan to accomplish anything.

Hard for me to get too excited about Towns, simply because he doesn't look like he's going to be great at anything right away. He does look like he can be good at a lot of things, and maybe he'll become great at several things but year one I don't see where he gets an edge. I expect he'll end up as better the Cauley-Stein (hopefully much better), but out of the gate I expect Stein to make some awesome defensive plays which would allow me to overlook the growing pains in the rest of his game. So even though I expect Towns to be the better player, I'd have been more excited year 1 watching Stein play. So this year, not too excited... but hopefully year 2 and 3 he'll be near the top of my list.

I would be fine if he becomes next Marc Gasol: a bigman with great feel for the game, high BB IQ, solid fundamentals. Defensive anchor who can change game even without supreme athleticism

Don't underestimate his defensive impact: http://www.nba.com/timberwolves/video/channels/nba_tv/2015/09/29/20150929-rtc-timberwolves-micd-anthony-towns.nba

The size, the mobility, the defensive IQ, the vocal presence, he's got it all.

I wonder how Cauley-Stein will be when he doesn't have Towns protecting him on the low block. Personally, I credit Cauley-Stein's success more to Towns than the other way around.

Should I be excited KAT is emphatic about the playoffs this year or worried the reality is going to crush his spirit

• Towns said after Wednesday’s practice that he doesn’t just want to reach the playoffs his rookie season, he intends his team will advance out of the first round. Said Mitchell: “Karl hasn’t played an NBA game yet. The reality will set in when you start to play that first game of 82. But that’s the mindset you got to have. Whether that happens this year, we don’t know because we haven’t started to play games, but I want them to start thinking about that. You want that inside your guys.”
