I don't agree with that logic at all. How many guys have we stuck with for years because of potential? Dont be afraid to trade a guy if someone else clearly values him more.

I think it depends. The team that has a player knows him better than the rest of the league. If you don’t think he’ll reach a high level, you trade him while he has value. If Culver has another disaster year on the offensive end, he’s a negative asset on that contract.

The perfect example is Michael Carter Williams. He won rookie of the year but Hinkie knew he would never be a starter on a winning team, so he moved him and got some great assets back. MCW went on to prove to be nothing but a journeyman.

hmmm what if we're doing a 3 team with hawks, pelicans...our #1+JJ+Reddish to Pelicans. Culver+our #17 plus Pelicans#13 goes to Hawks. We get Jrue Holidays+Hawks#6. We flip #6 to Orlando for Aaron Gordon :D

I think we just might be getting #6 to package with our #1 to ship to philly for Simmons.

I feel like Gupta and Rosas have much more creativity than us.

The only way I see the Wolves doing this would be if they have completely lost confidence in Culver improving his shooting. If Culver becomes even an average shooter this would be a terrible deal.

This. In my opinion, the best way to evaluate prospects is on their improvement from year to year, not on how they play as a rookie. I'd be very much against trading Culver at what very well could be his low point in value, especially not before seeing what he looks like next season.

I think Culver is a lot better than most people - who don't follow the Wolves - think. So many people look at his FT shooting and his slow start and call him a bust. He was actually pretty good the final 30 games (outside of FT shooting) and if he would have just shot 75 percent from the line, I think people would like him a lot more and talk about his final stretch, his work ethic, his passing, his defense.

That being said, his poor free throw shooting scares the hell out of me.

Also, I still think his ceiling is kind of low. I always was against trading Wiggins because I was terrified that he would figure it out with his new team and I would have to watch Wiggins make the all-star team for his second team after Minnesota gave him away. I don't think Culver will ever be that good. He could be a good fourth option on a championship team and a great third option on a Minnesota playoff team. Am I begging for him to be traded? No. Would I like to see Culver/17 traded for Patrick Williams? Sure, he looks like a good fit with a bright future.

Culver will be a lot better next year, but not so good I would tell teams he's untouchable.

Or the Wolves know they are taking Ball or Edwards, leaving no minutes for Culver. For all the Culver can play real minutes at SF, he’s the exact same measurements as LaMelo Ball.

This was my first thought as well. I don’t think Rosas wants two lotto picks on a team he hopes competes for a playoff spot.

I'm not particularly worried about finding Culver minutes since other than Russell, there is no one currently on the Wolves who I would put clearly ahead of Culver on the depth chart. I expect minutes next season to go to the guys who earn them.

ATL: #17, #33, and Minnesota First (2023)
OUT: #6

MIN: Jrue Holiday
OUT: James Johnson, Jarrett Culver, #17, #33, and Minnesota First (2023)

NOP: James Johnson, Jarrett Culver, and #6
OUT: Jrue Holiday

Just a thought, you could swap around a bunch of the pieces to make it more or less valuable for each team.

Culver + #17 for #6? I can get on board with that. Culver + #17 for Holiday, no thank you!

Pelicans: Holiday + Miller FOR Culver + #17 + OKC 1st via Hawks

Hawks: #6 + OKC 1st Owed FOR Holiday + Spellman

Wolves: #17 + Culver + Spellman FOR #6 + Miller

Wolves draft at #1 and #6 or package for Simmons or Booker or ?.

75% from the line is weaksauce shooting by itself. But we are talking what, 47% where he was at? That's a far cry from 75%.

It depends to me on whether it was just a mindblock sort of issue that he could fix or not. I feel they made a mistake giving hin starts at PG early in the season and it was just too much. If he has a smaller role/smaller set of responsibilities in second year maybe he turns it all around with this FT issue. If not...what else can be said? 40%50%60% FT are all unplayable unless you are so good at something else that they can overlook it.

Warriors were interested in Lamarcus Aldridge. He fits their system and win now mode.

Shaping up well for Wolves.

1. Holiday to Hawks.
2. Paul to Bucks, 76ers or New York (Suns is a smoke screen).
3. LMA to Warriors and Spurs being active, start the tear down.
4. Reduced NBA cap (Suns don’t have close to max space without major moves).

If we can get Gobert to say Celtics, and pull off own win-now trade (Simmons?), Wolves are easily in playoff conversation.
